Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Ataşehir & the Finance Centre

Updated 22 October 2026

Short answer: from Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), Ataşehir is on the same side of the Bosphorus, about 25 km away, and the drive takes 25–40 minutes outside the busy hours (45–75 minutes on weekday rush hours). The M4 metro stops at Yenisahra and Kozyatağı, both beside Ataşehir, but the last stretch to a tower or hotel usually needs the M8, a taxi or a long walk. Our private transfer is from €51 per vehicle, and a taxi is about €24–30 (₺1,350–1,650). There is no metro to the Istanbul Finance Centre yet; the M12 is announced for December 2026.

Ataşehir is Istanbul's business district on the Asian side: wide boulevards, office towers, malls and business hotels, with very little of the old city. For anyone flying into Sabiha Gökçen it is one of the easiest destinations, because there is no bridge in the way and one motorway does most of the work. The only awkward part is that "Ataşehir" is large, and the right way to arrive depends on which corner you are going to.

Which Part of Ataşehir Are You Going To?

Most business hotels and offices are in Batı Ataşehir, around the Varyap Meridian towers and Metropol Istanbul. The malls are Palladium, Brandium and Optimum, and the Ülker Sports and Event Hall is also in the district. Two nearby places are easy to get wrong:

Many complexes have separate car entrances or underground forecourts. Whatever you use, send the tower or block name together with the street.

By Metro: The M4, With the M8 for the Last Stretch

The M4 station is part of the airport and runs towards Kadıköy. The trains run from about 06:00 to midnight, and on Friday and Saturday nights they continue every 30 minutes until 05:30 at a double fare of ≈€1.65 (₺92.40). Two stations matter for Ataşehir:

For the other parts of the district, change to the M8 (Bostancı to Parseller) at Kozyatağı. It has stations at Küçükbakkalköy, İçerenköy, Kayışdağı, Mevlana, İMES, MODOKO-KEYAP, Dudullu and Huzur, runs every 7 minutes and takes about 26 minutes end to end. Küçükbakkalköy is about 0.8 km (10 minutes) from Brandium. The M8 also connects with the Marmaray at Bostancı and with the M5 at Dudullu.

A visitor's Istanbulkart is the anonymous card, which costs ≈€3 (₺165) and gives no transfer discount, so the M4 and the M8 are each charged at the full ≈€0.85 (₺46.20). Our Istanbulkart guide explains where to buy and top it up. Stairs and a change at Kozyatağı are fine with a cabin bag, and tiring with two large cases. The full line is described in our Sabiha Gökçen M4 metro guide.

Havabüs to Yenisahra

The Kadıköy coach (line SG-1, which many people still call Havaş) stops at Yenisahra, by the M4 station and opposite the Optimum mall. Havabüs quotes about 45 minutes to Yenisahra. The fare is the same as to Kadıköy: ≈€5.50 (₺300) with an Istanbulkart, or ≈€7 (₺385) with a contactless bank card. Buses leave the airport from about 05:45 (06:30 at weekends) until 01:30, roughly every 45 minutes. Your bags go in the hold, which is the main reason to prefer it to the metro. In the other direction, buses leave Yenisahra about 15 minutes after the Kadıköy departure. Details and timetables are in our Havabüs guide.

Taxi to Ataşehir

The official taxi rank is outside the arrivals exit. The meter should show roughly €24–30 (₺1,350–1,650) to Ataşehir, plus any toll if the driver takes the TEM motorway. There is no night rate, so traffic is what changes the fare. Card payment in taxis becomes mandatory on 16 November 2026, so carry some cash until then. If you are going to a tower with a separate car entrance, show the driver the name on your phone. Our Sabiha Gökçen taxi prices guide covers the tariff and how to avoid disputes.

Private Transfer from €51

Your driver tracks your flight and waits just outside the arrivals exit. Once you have landed, they send the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp, and our drivers speak English. The price starts at €51 per vehicle for a Mercedes Vito (up to 6 passengers), and the exact price for your date and time is shown before you pay. There is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays, the car is private and never shared, and child seats are available on request. For larger groups, book a Sprinter; for a VIP car, a Mercedes V-Class.

The driver joins the O-4 (TEM) at Kurtköy and runs west to the Ataşehir junction, or uses the D-100 for the southern parts of the district, whichever is moving better. There is no Bosphorus crossing, so this is one of the more predictable routes on the Asian side. If you land in the evening, the motorway is usually quiet after the peak.

The Finance Centre: No Metro Yet

At the time of writing, the Istanbul Finance Centre area has no rail station. The closest station on our route, Kozyatağı, is roughly 4.7 km from the centre, so the last part is a taxi. A new driverless metro line, the M12 (Göztepe to Ümraniye), has stations named Yenisahra, Ataşehir and Finans Merkezi, and is announced for December 2026. The date reported in the press is 19 December, but it is not yet on the Metro Istanbul website, so check the official site before you rely on it. Even once it opens, the Finans Merkezi station is about 1.3 km from the centre of the complex, and the Ataşehir station about 0.7 km from Palladium, so the walk, or a short ride, will still be part of the journey.

From the airport, the direct car remains the practical choice for a morning meeting at the Finance Centre: ask for the exact entrance, and the driver can stop at the tower instead of the hotel.

From Istanbul Airport to Ataşehir

If you land at Istanbul Airport (IST), Ataşehir is at the opposite end of the city: roughly 55 km, across the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and then east on the O-2 past Kavacık and Ümraniye. Allow 50–70 minutes off-peak and 80–110 minutes at weekday peaks, when the bridge approach and the Kavacık interchanges slow everything down. Our Istanbul Airport to Ataşehir transfer is from €58 per vehicle, with no extra charge for traffic or flight delays.

With only Ataşehir on your list, flying into SAW saves a good hour each way. Istanbul Airport vs Sabiha Gökçen compares the two airports.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Ataşehir from Sabiha Gökçen Airport?

About 25 km by road. Outside the busy hours the drive takes 25–40 minutes; on weekday rush hours (about 07:00–10:00 and 17:00–20:00) allow 45–75 minutes. Both are on the Asian side, so there is no Bosphorus crossing.

How much is a taxi from Sabiha Gökçen to Ataşehir?

The meter should show about €24–30 (₺1,350–1,650), plus a toll if the driver uses the TEM motorway. There is no night rate. Card payment in taxis becomes mandatory on 16 November 2026, so carry some cash until then.

How much is a private transfer from Sabiha Gökçen to Ataşehir?

From €51 per vehicle for a Mercedes Vito (up to 6 passengers). The exact price for your date and time is shown before you pay, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays.

Is there a metro from Sabiha Gökçen to Ataşehir?

Partly. The M4 runs from the airport and stops at Kozyatağı (about 34 minutes) and Yenisahra (about 36 minutes), both beside Ataşehir. For other parts of the district, change to the M8 at Kozyatağı or finish by taxi. A visitor's Istanbulkart pays the full ≈€0.85 (₺46.20) on each line.

Does the Havabüs stop in Ataşehir?

Yes. The Kadıköy line (SG-1, often called Havaş) stops at Yenisahra, by the M4 station and opposite the Optimum mall, about 45 minutes after leaving the airport. The fare is ≈€5.50 (₺300) with an Istanbulkart.

Is there a metro to the Istanbul Finance Centre, and when does it open?

Not yet. A new metro line, the M12, with stations at Ataşehir and Finans Merkezi, is announced for December 2026; the press reports 19 December, but check the Metro Istanbul website. Even then the station is about 1.3 km from the centre of the complex.

How do I get from Istanbul Airport to Ataşehir?

The only direct public link is the Havaist HVL-6, which runs around the clock and stops at Yenisahra on its way to Kadıköy. By rail it takes about two hours with two changes. A private transfer is from €58 per vehicle; the drive is 50–70 minutes off-peak and 80–110 minutes at weekday peaks, across the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

Should I fly into SAW or IST for Ataşehir?

If Ataşehir is your only destination, Sabiha Gökçen is the better choice: it is much closer and the road has no bridge. Istanbul Airport suits you better if you are also visiting the European side.

How early should I leave Ataşehir for a flight from Sabiha Gökçen?

Book the pickup about 3¾–4 hours before an international flight and about 2¾–3 hours before a domestic one. Leave extra time on weekday mornings and evenings.
