Bodrum Airport (BJV): Transfers, Bus, Taxi and Times to the Resorts
Short answer: Bodrum Airport (BJV) is in Milas, not in Bodrum: the castle is 36.6 km and about 41 minutes away by road, and most peninsula resorts are 33 to 68 minutes. A private transfer costs from €40 per vehicle to Bodrum town and from €45 to Gümüşlük, for up to 6 passengers, with the exact price shown before you pay. The airport coach runs to Bodrum bus station for ₺270 per person, but it meets domestic flights only, and its operator says it does not stop at the international terminal. Taxis are metered, so ask for an estimate before you set off.

Milas-Bodrum Airport serves the whole Bodrum peninsula, from the town and the Gümbet and Bitez beaches to the north-coast bays of Türkbükü and Yalıkavak and the western villages of Turgutreis and Gümüşlük. The airport is run by TAV, has separate international and domestic terminals, and is further from the sea than most visitors expect. Below are the distances, times and options for each resort, how the airport coach really works, and how to choose between Bodrum and Dalaman.

Where the Airport Is and How It Is Laid Out
The official name is Milas-Bodrum Airport. It lies in Milas district, on the main Milas–Bodrum road, about 19 km from Milas town and 36 km from Bodrum. TAV Airports runs it. International and domestic flights use separate terminals, each with its own check-in and arrivals area, and the two buildings are reported to be roughly a kilometre apart. Check which terminal your airline uses before you travel, because the meeting point and the taxi rank depend on it.
International arrivals pass through passport control and baggage reclaim, then reach the arrivals area, where two mobile-network sales points sell SIM cards. The airport lists a 24-hour exchange office on the international side and a bank cash machine on the international arrivals floor, before you leave the secure area. The main bank of cash machines is next to the entrance doors of the domestic terminal. Free Wi-Fi is available in both terminals, with the access code sent by SMS.
Car-hire firms operate at the airport, and its website lists 13 international and Turkish companies with contact numbers. If you hire a car, book ahead for July and August.
Your Options From the Airport
Private Transfer
Our driver tracks your flight and waits just outside the arrivals exit of your terminal. After you land, the driver sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. Drivers speak English. The price is per vehicle, not per person, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. A Mercedes Vito takes up to 6 passengers with luggage, a V-Class VIP suits couples and small groups, and a Sprinter fits a larger party. Child seats are available on request. It is the simplest way to reach a villa or hotel that no coach or dolmuş stops near.
Prices start from €40 to Bodrum town and rise with distance to €45 to Gümüşlük, as in the table above. The Muğla airport transfer page has the booking form.
Airport Coach (Domestic Arrivals Only)
The coach is the cheapest direct link into town, but it needs care. It is listed by the municipal operator MUTTAŞ as line 48-24 and by Havaş. The fares, valid from 18 May 2026, are ₺270 per person to Bodrum bus station (Torba) and ₺220 to Güvercinlik, and Havaş gives the journey time as about 45 minutes. There is no booking and no advance ticket, and you can pay by bank card.
- It is timed to domestic flights. From the airport, the coach meets domestic arrivals, with extra vehicles added when it fills. There is no clock-face timetable.
- International arrivals cannot rely on it. MUTTAŞ states that, on the airport operator's decision, passengers are not set down or picked up at the international terminal stop. If you land on an international flight, treat the coach as not available and choose a taxi or a transfer instead.
- Towards the airport, coaches leave Bodrum two hours before domestic departures. Havaş publishes daily departure times that change with the flight schedule, so check them the day before.
- Where it ends: at Bodrum bus station in Torba, with a stop at Güvercinlik. The bus station is a few kilometres from the harbour, so expect a second leg into the centre.
Taxi
Taxis operate around the clock from ranks at both terminals, and there is no night rate. The airport website lists no taxi price board, so we give no taxi prices here. Taxis are metered. Before you set off, ask the driver for an estimate for your address and check that the meter is switched on. For a long run to Yalıkavak, Turgutreis or Gümüşlük, compare the estimate with a pre-booked transfer, where the price is fixed per vehicle before you travel.
Public Transport Into Town and Along the Peninsula
From the bus station at Torba, ring line 2-81 links to the town centre (Merkez Garaj). At the time of writing it runs every 30 minutes from 07:00 to 23:30, then hourly through the night, every day. The fare is ₺28 with a Muğla Kart or ₺59 with the two-ride card sold to visitors. From Merkez Garaj, dolmuş minibuses leave for Gümbet, Bitez, Türkbükü, Yalıkavak, Turgutreis, Gümüşlük and the other villages. Most start in the town centre rather than at the bus station, so the usual public route to a resort is coach, ring line, then dolmuş. That is three legs with luggage; it works for light bags and for those with time to spare, and the three guides below give the lines and fares for each part of the peninsula.
For Milas, line 4-3 links the airport and Milas bus garage four times a day, Monday to Saturday, for ₺80 or ₺101 depending on the card. The frequent Bodrum–Milas bus passes the airport junction on the main road, not the terminals, so do not use it with luggage. The Havaş shuttle between Didim and Milas-Bodrum Airport was withdrawn from 7 August 2026.

Bodrum or Dalaman? Choosing the Airport
If your hotel is on the Bodrum peninsula, fly to Bodrum. Dalaman is the wrong airport: our Dalaman guide puts Bodrum at about 200 km and almost three hours by road, against 41 minutes from the castle to Milas-Bodrum.
The reverse is also true. For the coast south-east of the peninsula, Dalaman Airport is the closer gateway: by Google, Marmaris is 96.5 km and 95 minutes from Dalaman, Kalkan 121.9 km and 111 minutes, and Kaş 148.9 km and 142 minutes, with Fethiye and Ölüdeniz on the way. From Bodrum Airport, Marmaris is roughly two hours or more by road, and Kalkan and Kaş are further still, so book your flight to Dalaman for Marmaris, Fethiye, Kalkan and Kaş.
Didim is the in-between case. On the map Bodrum Airport is the nearer one, roughly 80 km, while İzmir is about 142 km away, and our Izmir Airport to Didim and Altınkum guide covers the İzmir route in detail. If you would like a Didim quote from Bodrum Airport, message us on WhatsApp before booking. For the whole province, see the Muğla airport transfer page.
Arriving at Night or on a Late Flight
Your transfer driver tracks your flight, so a delayed landing moves the pick-up with it, at no extra charge. The driver waits just outside the arrivals exit and sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp once you have landed. The airport coach follows domestic flights only, and ring line 2-81 runs through the night but only between the bus station and the town centre, so after a late international arrival the practical choices are a taxi from the rank or a pre-booked transfer. Taxis run all night, and there is no night rate on the meter.
Which Option Suits You?
Families, groups and heavy luggage: a private transfer, one price for the whole vehicle, straight to the door of a villa or hotel. Landing on a domestic flight with light bags: the coach to Torba is the budget choice for Bodrum town. Landing on an international flight: the coach is not available, so choose a transfer or a taxi. Staying further out, in Yalıkavak, Türkbükü, Turgutreis or Gümüşlük: the public route needs a change in town and the transfer saves an hour or more.
