Düden Waterfalls From Antalya Airport, Lara and Kaleiçi
Short answer: Lower Düden, where the river falls about 40 metres into the sea, is the easy one: a free public park in Lara, roughly 15 km and 15 to 20 minutes by car from Antalya Airport (AYT). Bus 800 from the airport stops at Düden Parkı after about 29 minutes. A metered taxi costs about €13–14 (₺700–800) to Lara, and a private transfer to the Lara area starts at €35 per vehicle. Upper Düden, in Varsak, is a separate park with a small municipal entry fee; it has no direct airport bus, so most visitors take a taxi or a tram plus a local bus. Ask us for a quote if you want a transfer there.

Antalya has two Düden waterfalls on the same river, and people often plan a trip to one while looking at photos of the other. Lower Düden is the one that drops over a cliff into the Mediterranean; Upper Düden is a separate municipal park inland, in Varsak. This guide explains which is which, how to reach each from the airport, from Lara and from Kaleiçi, and how to fit a visit around an arrival or a departure day.
Lower or Upper Düden: Which One Do You Want?
| Lower Düden (Düden Park) | Upper Düden (Düdenbaşı) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Lara, Muratpaşa district, beside the coast | Varsak, Kepez district, inland |
| What you see | A fall of about 40 m off the cliffs into the sea | The upper falls, in a municipal park |
| Entry | Free public park with no gate | Small municipal entry fee, paid at the gate |
| From the airport | About 15 km, 15 to 20 minutes by car; bus 800 direct | About 16 km, about 17 minutes by car; no direct bus |
| Best for | A short stop, the sea view, a boat trip from Kaleiçi | A longer outing inland, or a pairing with the Kurşunlu Waterfall |
Distances are approximate road distances without traffic; allow more time in summer and at rush hour. Upper Düden is run by the municipality, not by the national parks authority, and sources say a Müzekart or MuseumPass does not apply there.
If you only have an hour, choose Lower Düden: it is close to the airport, needs no ticket and has a direct bus. Choose Upper Düden if you want to see the upper falls and do not mind the extra change of transport.

Bus 800 to Lower Düden
Bus 800 is the only line from the airport that goes straight to a Düden waterfall. It runs between the airport and Meydan, calls at the airport terminals and the two Düden Parkı stops, and reaches Düden Parkı about 29 minutes after leaving Terminal 2. At the time of writing it leaves between 06:45 and 23:45, about every 50 to 60 minutes. Our Antalya Airport bus and tram guide has the full departure list and shows where each line stops.
- Where to board: at Terminal 2, or at the Dış Hatlar Terminal Girişi stop on the access road to Terminal 1. Until 31 October 2026 the bus stops at the domestic terminal and at Terminal 1 itself are out of use because of road works.
- Which stop: the 800 uses Düden Parkı-1 and Düden Parkı-2, one on each side of Barınaklar Bulvarı. Check the direction of travel on the stop sign before you board for the return.
- Paying: tap an Antalyakart or a contactless bank card; there is no cash on the buses. The card reader shows the fare when you tap. Our Antalyakart guide explains the card.
- Luggage: workable with a rucksack, awkward with suitcases on a city bus.
From the stop it is a short walk into the park. The same stops are served by several other city lines, including KL08, which also runs through the Kaleiçi area, so Düden Parkı works as a change point as well.
Taxi or Private Transfer: The Practical Choice With Bags
Lower Düden sits at the near end of the Lara coast road, so the trip from the airport is short. A metered taxi from the rank in front of the arrivals exit runs about €13–14 (₺700–800) to Lara, and the fare to Düden Park should be in that range or a little under. Antalya taxis use the central tariff, with no night rate. Details are in our Antalya Airport taxi prices guide.
A private transfer to the Lara area starts at €35 per vehicle, shown before you pay (see the Antalya Airport to Lara transfer page). Your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit and tracks your flight. After you land, the driver sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. Drivers speak English, and the vehicle is a Mercedes Vito for up to 6 passengers, a VIP Mercedes V-Class or a Sprinter for bigger groups. There is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays, and child seats are available on request.
Upper Düden: Varsak is in Kepez, which is outside the areas on our standard price list, so we do not print a fixed price for it here. Ask us for a quote on WhatsApp before you book and we will give the price per vehicle.
Upper Düden by Tram and Local Bus
There is no direct line from the airport to Upper Düden. The route that the Antalya transport authority's stop lists point to is the AntRay tram T1A from the airport to Doğu Garaj, about 28 minutes, then bus CV17 or CV17A to the Düden Şelalesi-1 or Düden Şelalesi-2 stops. The tram and bus lines are confirmed on the official stop lists; the exact transfer and the bus frequency are best checked in the Antalyakart route planner on the day.
The tram costs ≈€0.75 (₺42) per ride with an Antalyakart or ≈€0.90 (₺50) with a contactless bank card, and the card also works on the bus. Bus MK80 links Upper Düden with the Kurşunlu Waterfall, which is useful if you want to see two waterfalls in one outing.
At the gate you pay a small municipal entry fee. Sources quote slightly different opening times, roughly 08:00 or 09:00 until 18:00 in winter and 19:30 in summer, so look at the sign at the entrance rather than planning around the last hour.
From Lara and Kaleiçi
From Lara
Lower Düden is a few minutes along the coast from Güzeloba and the public Lara beach. Hotels further east, around Kemerağzı and Kundu, are in Aksu district and add some distance. Our Lara and Kundu guide explains which area your hotel is in. From a Lara hotel the simplest way is a short taxi ride, or the city buses LC07A and KL08 that run along the hotel road, which our Lara guide lists as serving Düden Parkı.
From Kaleiçi
Kaleiçi is about 9 km and roughly 15 minutes by road from Lower Düden. A taxi is the quickest way. By bus, KL08 serves Düden Parkı and the Hadrian's Gate area; check the stop in the Antalyakart app. Our Antalya Airport to the city centre guide covers how to reach Kaleiçi itself, including the tram to İsmetpaşa.
By boat from the Kaleiçi harbour
Excursion boats leave the old harbour in Kaleiçi and sail along the cliffs to the foot of the Lower Düden falls, which is a way to see the water landing in the sea. Trips take from about 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the operator, and prices are set by each operator, so ask at the harbour ticket booths. Boats were still running in September 2026. There is no official season, and the sea decides: in rough weather trips are cancelled.
A Düden Stop on Arrival Day or Departure Day
Because Lower Düden is only 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, it fits well around a flight. There are two sensible plans.
- Arrival day, light bags: take bus 800 or a taxi to Düden Park, walk the terraces, then continue to your hotel by taxi. Do this only if you can carry your bags comfortably.
- Arrival or departure day, with suitcases: a private transfer to Lara is the straightforward option. If you want a short stop at the falls on the way, ask us on WhatsApp before booking and we will tell you whether it fits your pickup time. Do not assume a stop is included.
- Departure day: go in the morning, before your hotel check-out time and well ahead of your flight. Plan the way back: the 800 stops at Düden Parkı, and your hotel can call a taxi.
Late arrivals should skip the waterfalls on the first night: the park has no gate, but the paths run beside a cliff and are best seen in daylight. See arriving in Antalya at night for what runs after midnight.
When to Go and Staying Safe
The flow is strongest in winter and spring, after rain. In late summer the volume can drop, so the falls can look thinner than in the photographs.
The viewing terraces at Lower Düden are built right at the cliff edge. Local news reported a fatal fall from the cliffs in May 2026, so stay behind the railings, keep children by the hand and never climb over a barrier for a photo. Wear shoes with grip near the spray.
Planning Around a Longer Antalya Stay
Lower Düden, Lara beach and TerraCity are all in the same part of town, so they combine into a half day. Treat Upper Düden as a separate outing. For the old town and the rest of the city, our city centre guide is the better starting point.
