The official park tariff is ₺85 per person, but foreign visitors may be asked for more, so bring cash.
On this page
Saklıkent is a deep limestone canyon in the hills behind Fethiye, where you wade upstream through cold, fast water between walls that rise high on both sides. It is one of the most popular day trips on this coast, and it combines well with the ruins of Tlos nearby. It is not close to the airport, and public transport back to Fethiye stops early, so the timing matters more than the price. This guide covers the routes from Dalaman and Fethiye, the entry fee, what the walk is like and how to fit in Tlos.

Getting There From Dalaman Airport
There is no direct public transport from Dalaman Airport to Saklıkent. Every route goes through Fethiye, which is about 55 km from the airport, and then continues inland towards Seydikemer. That makes the day long, so most visitors either base themselves in Fethiye for a night first or rent a car. If you land in the morning and want to see the gorge the same day, the private car is the only version that really works.
| Option | Time | Cost (2026) | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Our private transfer to Fethiye | About 55 min | From €44 per vehicle | Families, groups, luggage, late arrivals |
| Airport taxi to Fethiye (list fare) | About 55 min | ≈€54 (₺3,000) per car | Arriving without a booking |

| Dolmuş 5-13, Fethiye to Saklıkent | About 1 hour | ₺228 per person on the two-ride card | Day trip from Fethiye |
Road times are without hold-ups; allow more in July and August. The airport coaches meet domestic flights and have no fixed timetable, so after an international flight you may wait. Our Dalaman Airport to Fethiye and Marmaris guide explains the coaches and the taxi rank.
Our transfer to Fethiye is private, in a Mercedes Vito (up to 6 passengers), a V-Class VIP or a Sprinter for larger groups, with child seats on request. The price is per vehicle and shown before you pay, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. Your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit and, after you land, sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. Our drivers speak English. You can book on our Dalaman Airport Transfer page and compare routes on transfer prices.
We do not have a standard route or a listed price for Saklıkent itself. If you want to be taken straight to the gorge, or want a stop at Tlos on the way, ask us for a quote on WhatsApp before booking. Please do not assume a stop is included.
A taxi to the gorge runs on the Muğla meter: a start of ≈€2.50 (₺150) plus ≈€0.90 (₺50) per km, with no night rate. Agree the price, the waiting time and the return before you leave Fethiye.
Dolmuş 5-13 From Fethiye
The cheap way to the gorge is dolmuş 5-13, run by the Muğla municipal transport company (MUTTAŞ). It leaves from Fethiye's Köyler Garajı, the village dolmuş station, so ask at the bus station or your hotel where to board. The airport coaches end at the main bus station, and you need to make your own way to the dolmuş stop.
- Fare: ₺228 for Fethiye to Saklıkent on the two-ride Muğla Kart, which is the realistic visitor fare. The personal card pays ₺179. Bank cards are accepted on board.
- From Fethiye: about 21 departures a day, from 07:20 to 20:30.
- From Saklıkent: departures from 05:45, with the last weekday return at 17:15.
The 17:15 last return is the point to plan around. If you take a dolmuş from Fethiye at 10:00, you arrive around 11:00 and have time for the walk, lunch and Tlos only if you move briskly. A departure at 16:00 or later from Fethiye is only useful if you have a car or a taxi waiting for the return. Check the MUTTAŞ timetable page for weekend times and for the date you travel, as they can change.
The minibuses are small, with little room for big suitcases, so a day trip with just a daypack is the right use. If you are arriving from the airport with luggage, put the bags down in Fethiye first.
Entry Fee and Opening Hours
Saklıkent is a national park, and the official 2026 tariff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (DKMP) lists the Muğla Category I rate as ₺85 per person and ₺255 per car. The same tariff says that sites run by a contracted operator may charge foreign visitors a different price with permission. That matches what a price check reported in August 2026: ₺85 for an adult, ₺45 for a student or child and ₺250 for foreign visitors, with parking at ₺200, cash only and no MüzeKart. That is a single report, so treat the ₺250 as a figure to budget for rather than a certain price, and ask at the ticket window before you pay. Another 2026 guide mentions separate small charges for the toilets and for parking.
The gate is open every day, about 08:45 to 19:00, according to visitor guides. These are not official hours, and winter hours are usually shorter, so ask your hotel or the operator before you travel in the off season.
Walking the Gorge
The walk is the reason to come. From the entrance you walk into the canyon and then wade upstream in the river between the rock walls. The water is very cold, about 5 °C, and the stones are slippery, with some stretches above knee depth. Plan on getting wet.
- Shoes: wear water shoes with a firm grip. They can be rented at the entrance, according to visitor guides. Flip-flops come off in the current.
- Season: May to October is the best time. In spring the water is higher and colder, so ask at the entrance how far you can go.
- Bring: a towel, a dry change of clothes, a waterproof bag for your phone and some cash.
- Children and weaker swimmers: keep to the shallow sections near the start, and do not go further than the least confident person in the group is comfortable with.
Allow at least two hours at the gorge for the walk, a change of clothes and something to eat. With a dolmuş return at 17:15, it is easy to run out of time.
Adding Tlos
Tlos is an ancient Lycian city on a hill above the valley, with rock tombs in the cliff face and a later fortress on the summit. It is about 37 km from Fethiye and about 14 km from Saklıkent, a detour of roughly 20 minutes between the two. The ministry page lists it as open from 09:00 to 19:30, and admission for foreign visitors was 3 euros in 2026. The 2027 tariff starts on 1 April 2027, so check muze.gov.tr for the new price if you travel after that date. The ministry page showed summer hours on 22 October 2026, and winter hours are usually shorter, so check muze.gov.tr before you go.
Tlos sits on a side road, so the practical way to see it is by car or taxi. The best order is usually Tlos first in the morning, when it is cooler, then the gorge at midday, with the return to Fethiye in the afternoon. A taxi or a driver for the day makes this easy. Ask us on WhatsApp before booking if you want a quote that includes both.
Planning Your Day
- By dolmuş: catch the 5-13 from Fethiye no later than about 10:30. Walk the gorge, eat there and be at the stop for the 17:15 back. Skip Tlos unless you have a taxi.
- By taxi or private driver: Tlos in the morning, the gorge at midday, back in Fethiye by early evening. Agree the waiting time first.
- On arrival day: a flight that lands at midday leaves too little time. Go to your hotel and visit the gorge the next morning.
- Heat and crowds: in July and August the cold water is a relief, but midday is the busiest time. Arriving at opening time helps.
- Roads: there were no site closures in this area at the time of writing. Check the weather and the road before you leave in any case.

Back to Dalaman Airport
From Fethiye allow about 55 minutes for the road to the airport, plus the airport's advice to check in 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. If your flight is the day after the gorge, sleep in Fethiye. If it is the same day, a private car from Fethiye is the safer choice, because the dolmuş back from Saklıkent leaves at 17:15 on weekdays and the airport coaches leave to times that change from day to day. Book the return together with your arrival on our Dalaman Airport Transfer page.
