Taksim is easy to name and awkward to reach. The square has controlled vehicle access, İstiklal Avenue is pedestrian and part of the hotel quarter behind it is closed to cars, so the best drop-off depends on which hotel you chose. This page gives the prices for both airports and explains how the last stretch works.

What the Price Covers
- The whole vehicle, private to your party only.
- A licensed driver who speaks English.
- Flight tracking, so the pickup follows your actual landing time.
- No extra charge for traffic or flight delays.
- All taxes and fees. You pay a card guarantee online and the rest in cash to the driver.
Booking a Taksim Transfer in Four Steps
- Enter the airport, Taksim, the date and time, and your passengers and suitcases on the Istanbul Airport transfer page.
- Choose a vehicle. We only show those that fit your group, each at the price for the whole car.
- Enter the lead passenger's name, e-mail, a phone number with WhatsApp and your flight number. Give the hotel name, not only "Taksim".
- Add extras such as a return transfer, then confirm on the payment page. A confirmation e-mail with your ATT- reference arrives straight away.
On the day, your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit. After you land and collect your bags, they send the exact meeting point and a short video of the way on WhatsApp.
Where the Car Stops: Talimhane, İstiklal, Cihangir and Gümüşsuyu
Taksim covers several different streets, and a car cannot reach all of them.
- The square and Cumhuriyet Caddesi: hotels on the square and along the road towards Elmadağ are the easiest for a car.
- Talimhane: just north-west of the square, where five streets have been closed to traffic since 2004. The driver stops at the nearest open corner and you walk a couple of minutes; reception staff often help with heavy cases.
- İstiklal Avenue: pedestrian, so the car waits on the closest open street.
- Cihangir and Galata: reachable by car, but on steep, narrow, often one-way lanes. Tell us which way your hotel faces.
- Gümüşsuyu and Tarlabaşı Bulvarı: Gümüşsuyu climbs steeply from the Bosphorus; Tarlabaşı Bulvarı on the western edge is wide and busy.
Which Drive to Expect From Each Airport
From Istanbul Airport the road runs south-east through Göktürk and Kemerburgaz, past Hasdal, Kağıthane and Okmeydanı, and reaches Taksim by Tarlabaşı Bulvarı or the Dolapdere side. Allow 45 to 60 minutes when roads are quiet and 75 to 100 minutes on weekday mornings and from late afternoon.
From Sabiha Gökçen you cross the Bosphorus. The usual route is the 15 July Martyrs Bridge on the O-1, leaving at Zincirlikuyu, or the shore road to Dolmabahçe and the climb up Gümüşsuyu. The Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge is the fallback when the inner bridge is jammed. Allow 60 to 90 minutes; the bridge approach decides where you land in that range. Many flights here arrive late at night, and the driver is outside whenever you actually come through.
Prices and booking for each direction are on the route pages: Istanbul Airport to Taksim and Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim.
Which Car for Which Party
- Mercedes Vito (6 passengers, 7 bags): couples, families and groups of up to six with normal luggage.
- Mercedes VIP Vito (4 passengers, 5 bags): a smaller party that wants the more comfortable black interior.
- Mercedes Sprinter (15 passengers, 20 bags) and VIP Sprinter (10 passengers, 16 bags): larger groups.
Count children as passengers and mention buggies or other bulky items in the notes. If you are close to a limit, take the next size up.
Back to the Airport From Taksim
Add the return when you book, or book it separately. Your driver waits at your hotel entrance, or at the nearest open corner if the street is closed to cars, and helps with the bags. The drive takes about 45 minutes to Istanbul Airport and about 50 minutes to Sabiha Gökçen without traffic. For an international flight choose a pickup about 4 to 4½ hours before departure from Istanbul Airport, or 4¼ to 4½ hours from Sabiha Gökçen. For a domestic flight, 3 to 3½ hours (3¼ to 3½ for Sabiha Gökçen). Leave earlier on weekday mornings and evenings. Details are on Taksim to Istanbul Airport and Taksim to Sabiha Gökçen.
When the Metro, Coach or Taxi Makes More Sense
If you travel alone with one bag, public transport costs far less. From Istanbul Airport the M11 reaches Gayrettepe in about 30 minutes, then the M2 reaches Taksim after three stops; trains run from about 06:10 until just after midnight. The Havaist HVL-9 coach takes about 90 minutes and costs ≈€8.50 (₺470) per person. From Sabiha Gökçen the Havabüs SG-2 runs every 30 minutes, takes about 90 minutes and costs ≈€8.50 (₺485). A yellow taxi on the meter is about €39–49 (₺2,150–2,700) from Istanbul Airport and ≈€39–50 (₺2,150–2,800) from Sabiha Gökçen plus any bridge toll, with no night rate, and for one or two people with light bags it is often the cheaper car. The transfer wins with a group, heavy bags, children or a late landing. See Istanbul Airport to Taksim, Sabiha Gökçen to Taksim and the taxi or private transfer comparison.
Changing or Cancelling a Taksim Booking
