Babadağ Paragliding and Cable Car Above Ölüdeniz

Updated 25 October 2026

Short answer: the Babadağ cable car climbs from a base station at 226 m on the main Ölüdeniz road, and the operator quotes about 23 minutes to the top. The 2026 return fare is ₺950 (₺700 for students with a card). The ticket is valid only on the day you buy it, and if wind closes the upper stations it is valid only as far as the 1,200 m station and is not refunded. The operator publishes no opening hours, so check its site on the day. Tandem paragliding from the mountain is sold by private operators with no official price, so book with a licensed one and ask about limits when you reserve. The cable car station is 59.2 km and about 1 hour 16 minutes by road from Dalaman Airport (DLM). Our private transfer to Ölüdeniz is from €66 per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers), shown before you pay.

Babadağ is the mountain behind Ölüdeniz, and the cable car and the paragliding take-offs are the two reasons most people go up it. The cable car is one operator with published fares and rules, while tandem flights are sold by many separate companies. This guide covers the lift, the paragliding basics, the weather rules that catch people out, and how to reach the foot of the mountain from Dalaman Airport. The Cable Car: Stations and Altitudes

Eight-person cabins carry you up the mountain from the base station. Two chairlifts then cover the top, from 1,700 m to 1,800 m and from 1,800 m to the peak, and the same ticket covers both. The operator's pages quote the top as about 1,900 m in one place and 1,960 m in another, so treat the summit as roughly 1,900 to 1,960 m.

StationAltitudeWhat is there, according to the operator
Main Station226 mOn the main Ölüdeniz road: tickets, information and boarding
Station 12001,200 mRestaurant, open-air theatre for concerts, playground, walking path, terrace café and a paragliding take-off
Station 17001,700 mViewing terrace, restaurant and a walking path past a pond and cedars; paragliders also take off here
Station 18001,800 mReached on foot or by the 1,700 to 1,800 m chairlift at no extra charge; a burger restaurant and a take-off
PeakAbout 1,900 mSandwich bar and the "Patara" and "North" take-offs, reached by the 1,800 m chairlift

The stations do not all run all year. According to a Turkish cable-car news site in May 2026, the 1,200 m station runs all year, the 1,700 m station from June to October and the 1,800 m chairlift from July to October. The operator does not list seasons on its ticket page, so check which stations are open for your dates before you pay for a trip to the top.

Fares, Tickets and Parking

It gets colder after sunset and higher up, so take a jacket even in summer.

Wind, Weather and Opening Hours

The operator publishes no timetable. Its site says only that hours may vary with the weather. A Turkish cable-car news site reported roughly 08:00 to between 20:00 and 22:00 in season in May 2026, but that is not an operator figure. Winter hours are usually shorter, so check the official site before you go and again on the morning of your trip.

The rules that matter most are about wind:

The practical advice is to go up in the morning and keep the day flexible. Ask at the ticket office whether the upper stations are open before you buy, and avoid buying a ticket on a day when strong wind is forecast.

Tandem Paragliding From Babadağ

How It Works

Tandem flights take off from the mountain, and the pilot normally brings you down to the landing field on the beach at Ölüdeniz. Take-offs sit between about 1,200 m and the summit at roughly 1,960 m. The field team and the launch marshals choose the one that suits the wind on the day, so you cannot normally pick your own.

Flights generally run for much of the year when the wind allows, but the upper lift stations are seasonal. A press report in June 2026 counted 8,436 tandem flights over the Kurban Bayramı holiday, with flying possible on only seven days because of weather. That shows both how busy the mountain gets and how often the wind decides the day.

Booking and What to Ask

There is no official price list for tandem flights. Operators set their own prices and rules, and they vary with the length of the flight and what is included. We do not name operators here. When you book, ask:

Safety and Licensing

Tandem paragliding carries real risk and depends on wind and on the pilot. A 2021 trade report said that a tandem pilot without the national certificate (the MYK standard) was not allowed to fly commercially from Babadağ, so check the current rules and ask to see the certificate when you book. Follow your pilot's instructions throughout and do not fly if you are unwell or unsure. We don't sell or arrange flights, so choose the operator yourself.

The Ölüdeniz Air Games

The 26th Ölüdeniz International Air Games ran from 21 to 25 October 2026, according to press reports. Athletes took off from Babadağ, the opening was at Belcekız Beach, and a display team flew at Çalış Beach on the last day. Earlier editions were also held in the second half of October, so the festival is usually a five-day event in autumn. The 2027 dates have not been announced at the time of writing.

Getting There From Dalaman Airport

Dalaman Airport is 59.2 km and about 76 minutes by road from the cable car lower station, and about 66 to 68 km from Ölüdeniz itself. There is no direct bus, so public transport means a change in Fethiye.

Our driver waits just outside the arrivals exit and, after you land, sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. Our drivers speak English, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. You can book on our Dalaman Airport Transfer page and compare routes on transfer prices.

The transfer takes you from the airport to an address in Ölüdeniz or Hisarönü. If you want to be dropped at the cable car station, or have questions about the return, ask us on WhatsApp before booking. We do not sell cable car tickets or flights.

Reaching the Cable Car Without a Car

Planning Your Day

Back to Dalaman Airport

Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes for the road from Ölüdeniz, plus the airport's advice to be there 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. Avoid planning a cable car trip or a flight on the day you leave, because wind can change the plan. You can book the return with your arrival on our Dalaman Airport Transfer page.
