Where to Stay Near Dalaman Airport: Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Göcek, Dalyan

Updated 22 October 2026

Short answer: for a small river town with a turtle beach nearby, stay in Dalyan. For marinas, boats and the shortest ride from the airport, choose Göcek. For a base where the local dolmuş lines to Ölüdeniz, Kayaköy, Göcek and Saklıkent start, pick Fethiye. For the lagoon and a beach holiday, pick Ölüdeniz or Hisarönü, and for a longer ride along the coast, Marmaris. Dalaman Airport (DLM) is 24 km from Göcek, about 30 km from Dalyan, 55 km from Fethiye, 66 km from Ölüdeniz and 96 km from Marmaris. A private transfer starts from €42 to Göcek and Dalyan, from €44 to Fethiye, from €53 to Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü, and from €77 to Marmaris, per vehicle.

Dalaman Airport sits at one end of a long coast, and hardly anyone stays beside it. Where you sleep decides whether your first evening starts after 30 minutes or after nearly two hours on the road, and whether the last leg is a coach, a dolmuş or a taxi. This guide compares the resorts visitors usually choose by what matters on arrival day: distance from the airport, how you get there without a car, and what the area is like. We do not recommend hotels or quote room prices; the figures here are for getting to the resort.

Drive times are for a normal day without hold-ups and run longer in July and August. Our prices are starting prices per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers); the exact price depends on the date and pick-up time and is shown before you pay. The airport coaches leave when domestic flights land, not to a timetable, so after an international flight you may have to wait.

Göcek: Marinas and the Shortest Ride

Göcek is the closest resort to the airport, 24 km away, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. It is a base for gulet cruises and yacht charters, and shared day boats to the islands in the bay usually leave in the middle of the morning and come back in the late afternoon in season. Check the price and the departure time with the operator, as they change from year to year.

It suits families who land tired and want to be at the hotel quickly, and anyone whose plans centre on the water. The catch is the last stretch: the airport coaches stop at petrol stations on the main road, not at the marina, so you may need a taxi for the final part. The airport taxi list fare to Göcek is ≈€25 (₺1,400) per car, with no night rate, and our transfer is from €42 per vehicle. Dolmuş 3-50 links Göcek with Fethiye about 20 times a day each way, from 07:10 to 20:15 from Fethiye and from 06:30 to 22:30 from Göcek, according to the MUTTAŞ timetable.

Dalyan: River, Tombs and a Beach by Boat

Dalyan is a small river town beside a reed-fringed channel, with Lycian rock tombs cut into the cliff opposite the quay. It is about 30 km from the airport and the road takes 35 to 40 minutes. Its character is a river town, not a beach resort: the sea is at İztuzu, about 12 km and 20 minutes away by road, so every swim means a river boat or a dolmuş. That suits a slow trip built around boats, the Kaunos site and evenings in town.

There is no direct airport coach. The budget route is the Marmaris coach to Ortaca and then dolmuş 8-8, which was ₺87 on the two-ride Muğla Kart at the time of writing and runs about every 15 minutes in the daytime. Our transfer is from €42 per vehicle, and the airport taxi list fare is ≈€30 (₺1,650) per car.

Our Dalaman Airport to Dalyan guide has the full detail on boats, dolmuş timetables and the night closure.

Sarıgerme: Close to the Airport, Easy by Taxi

Sarıgerme is 18 km from the airport, about 30 minutes by car, and is the sea-front option closest to the airport. There is no direct coach: local minibuses run from Ortaca and, in summer only, from Dalaman town, but most visitors take a taxi. The airport taxi list fare is ≈€20 (₺1,100) per car. We do not show a fixed route price for Sarıgerme on this page, so send us your address and the price for your date is shown before you pay; the transfer prices page lists every route.

Fethiye and Çalış: The Town Base

Fethiye is 55 km from the airport, about 55 minutes by car and about an hour by coach. The Havaş and MUTTAŞ coaches end at the bus station, and from there dolmuş minibuses and taxis go on to the centre and Çalış beach. Fethiye is the place to choose if you plan to see the area without a car, because many of the local dolmuş lines start there. At the time of writing, with the 2-ride Muğla Kart fares:

The airport taxi list fare to Fethiye is ≈€54 (₺3,000) per car, and the coach is ≈€5.50 (₺300) per person. Our transfer is from €44 per vehicle. For a hotel in Çalış, send us the exact address when you book, as the price is shown before you pay.

Ölüdeniz, Hisarönü and Ovacık: The Beach Side

These three sit along dolmuş line 3-40, over the hills behind Fethiye. Ovacık and Hisarönü come first, and Ölüdeniz, with its beach and lagoon, is at the end of the line, about 13 km and 20 to 25 minutes from Fethiye. From the airport it is 63 km to Hisarönü (about 1 hour 5 minutes) and 66 km to Ölüdeniz (about 1 hour 10 minutes). Belcekız, the public beach on the Ölüdeniz seafront, is free; the Blue Lagoon at Kumburnu charged ₺150 per person on foot and ₺750 per car from May 2026, according to local press at the time of writing. The boats to Butterfly Valley leave from Belcekız, and the cliff path from Faralya is closed, so go by boat only. See our Ölüdeniz Blue Lagoon guide and Butterfly Valley guide for the details.

The trade-off is the journey. There is no direct coach, so public transport means the coach to Fethiye and then a dolmuş, about 1 hour 30 minutes or more, with little room for big suitcases when the minibuses fill up in summer. The airport taxi list fare to Hisarönü and Ölüdeniz is ≈€63 (₺3,500) per car, and our transfer is from €53 per vehicle, so with a family and luggage the private option is often the simpler one. A same-day trip from the airport means more than two hours on the road for a few hours at the beach, so stay at least one night.

Marmaris and İçmeler: A Longer Ride

Marmaris is 96 km from the airport, about 1 hour 30 minutes by car or coach, and İçmeler is 103 km, about 1 hour 35 minutes. It is the farthest of the resorts on this page, so it suits you if Marmaris itself is the reason for the trip and you accept a long final leg after the flight. The Havaş or MUTTAŞ coach to Marmaris bus station is ≈€7.50 (₺420) per person, and a local dolmuş runs from there to İçmeler during the day. The airport taxi list fare is ≈€90 (₺5,000) to Marmaris and ≈€94 (₺5,200) to İçmeler, and our transfer to Marmaris is from €77 per vehicle. Compare it with the taxi board, as a pre-booked transfer at current prices often costs no more on the long runs.

Which Area for Which Trip?

Kalkan and Kaş are about 2 hours and 2 hours 30 minutes by road from Dalaman, with no airport coach; our Antalya Airport to Kaş and Kalkan guide covers the other route. If you are staying in Bodrum, Dalaman is the wrong airport: Bodrum is about 200 km and almost three hours away.

The Season Changes the Picture

Dalaman is extremely seasonal. The airport handled about 89,000 passengers in January 2026 and almost 987,000 in August, and from roughly April to October charter flights land in waves, so passport control, the taxi rank and the coaches all fill up at once. Several of the attractions also follow the season: the Dalyan river boats, the night closure at İztuzu from May to September, the upper Babadağ cable car stations (June to October), and the Butterfly Valley boats, which run only on demand and in good sea from November to March. If you travel outside the summer, check opening times before you plan a day around them.

How Our Transfer Fits In

Whichever area you choose, the booking works the same way. Your driver speaks English and waits just outside the arrivals exit; after you land, they send the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. You travel in a private Mercedes Vito (up to 6 passengers), a V-Class VIP or a Sprinter for larger groups, with child seats on request. The price is per vehicle and shown before you pay, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. If you want a stop on the way, ask us on WhatsApp before booking. Compare all routes on our transfer prices page, or book on the Dalaman Airport Transfer page.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best area to stay near Dalaman Airport?

It depends on the trip. Göcek and Dalyan are the closest resorts, about 30 to 40 minutes from the airport. Fethiye is the town base with dolmuş lines to Ölüdeniz, Kayaköy, Göcek and Saklıkent. Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü suit a beach holiday, and Marmaris is the longest ride at about 1 hour 30 minutes.

How far is each resort from Dalaman Airport?

By road, Sarıgerme is about 18 km (about 30 minutes), Göcek 24 km (about 30 minutes), Dalyan about 30 km (35 to 40 minutes), Fethiye 55 km (about 55 minutes), Hisarönü 63 km, Ölüdeniz 66 km (about 1 hour 10 minutes) and Marmaris 96 km (about 1 hour 30 minutes). Allow more time in July and August.

How much is a private transfer to each resort?

Per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers): from €42 to Göcek, from €42 to Dalyan, from €44 to Fethiye, from €53 to Ölüdeniz and Hisarönü, and from €77 to Marmaris. The exact price for your date and pick-up time is shown before you pay.

Is Dalyan a beach resort?

Not really. Dalyan is a river town, and the sea beach at İztuzu is about 12 km and 20 minutes away by road. You reach it by river boat or by dolmuş 8-10. For a hotel right on the sea near the airport, Sarıgerme is the closer choice.

Where should I stay if I have no car?

Fethiye is the easiest base, because the dolmuş lines to Ölüdeniz (3-40), Kayaköy (3-44), Faralya and Kabak (3-42), Göcek (3-50) and Saklıkent (5-13) start there. Check the last return time of each line before you go, as the Saklıkent dolmuş leaves at 17:15 on weekdays at the time of writing.

Is there a direct bus from Dalaman Airport to Ölüdeniz or Dalyan?

No. For Ölüdeniz, take the Havaş or MUTTAŞ coach to Fethiye bus station and change to dolmuş 3-40. For Dalyan, take the Marmaris coach to Ortaca and change to dolmuş 8-8. The coaches leave when domestic flights land and have no fixed timetable.

Which resort is best if I land late at night?

Göcek, Sarıgerme or Dalyan, because the ride is only 30 to 40 minutes. After a late international flight a coach may not be waiting, so the airport taxi rank, which works around the clock, or a pre-booked transfer is the safer choice.

Where does the driver meet me at Dalaman Airport?

Our driver waits just outside the arrivals exit. After you land, the driver sends you the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. Our drivers speak English, and child seats are available on request.
