Dalaman Airport to Hisarönü, Ovacık and Çalış
Short answer: Hisarönü and Ovacık are the two resort villages on the hill road between Fethiye and Ölüdeniz, and Çalış is the beach district on the edge of Fethiye itself. From Dalaman Airport (DLM) they are 58.5 km (about 1 h 15 min), 56.1 km (about 1 h 10 min) and 43.8 km (about 50 min) by road. A private transfer is from €58 to Hisarönü, from €56 to Ovacık and from €50 to Çalış per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers), with the price shown before you pay. On a budget, take the airport coach to Fethiye bus station (≈€5.50 / ₺300 per person), then dolmuş 3-40 for Ovacık and Hisarönü or 3-23 and 3-24 for Çalış. The airport taxi board lists Hisarönü / Ölüdeniz at ≈€63 (₺3,500).

This guide is about the Hisarönü in Fethiye district, just above Ölüdeniz, and not the village of the same name near Marmaris. It covers how far each base is from Dalaman, what each way of getting there costs, how the local dolmuş lines work, and what is close by: the Ölüdeniz road, Kayaköy, the Babadağ cable car and the start of the Lycian Way.

Which Base Suits You
Hisarönü and Ovacık sit next to each other on the road that climbs from Fethiye towards Ölüdeniz. They grew from small villages from about 1990 as places to stay for visitors to Ölüdeniz, where building is restricted, and administratively they are part of the Ölüdeniz neighbourhood. Dolmuşes pass through both all day, so you can reach the beach, Fethiye and Kayaköy without a car. Ovacık comes first when you travel up from Fethiye, then Hisarönü, then the road continues to the beach and lagoon at Ölüdeniz.
Çalış is different. It is a seafront district of Fethiye itself, which is why it is the shortest drive of the three from the airport. Dolmuşes run to it from the centre of Fethiye every few minutes.
If you are still choosing between them, our guide to where to stay near Fethiye and Dalaman compares the main areas, and the Dalaman Airport to Fethiye and Marmaris guide has the full list of coaches and fares from the airport.
Option 1: Airport Coach and Dolmuş
The Havaş and MUTTAŞ airport coach runs to Fethiye bus station (otogar) on line 48-25. The fare is ≈€5.50 (₺300) per person. Seats cannot be reserved, and departures from the airport follow the arrival of domestic flights rather than a printed timetable, so after an international flight you may wait for the next coach. The route is about 55 km.
From the bus station you change to a local dolmuş. Dolmuş 3-40 has a stop beside the bus station; for Çalış see below.
Dolmuş 3-40 for Ovacık and Hisarönü
Dolmuş 3-40 runs from Fethiye through Ovacık and Hisarönü to Ölüdeniz. It has a stop beside the bus station, then stops at Ovacık, at the Hisarönü junction and on to the Ölüdeniz park, Kumburnu, the seafront and the cable car.
- First departure: 06:50.
- Frequency: about every 7 to 8 minutes until 19:00, then every 10 to 25 minutes.
- Last departures: from Fethiye at 00:00 and from Ölüdeniz at 00:35.
- Fare: ≈€2 (₺115) from Fethiye to Ölüdeniz on the 2-ride Muğla Kart, which is the realistic visitor fare; Hisarönü to Ölüdeniz is ₺70 on the same card. The fare to Hisarönü or Ovacık from Fethiye is a little lower than to Ölüdeniz, so ask the driver. Bank cards are accepted on board.
The minibuses fill up in summer and have limited room for large suitcases. That is the main reason families with bags use a private transfer for the airport leg.
Dolmuş 3-23 and 3-24 for Çalış
Two lines serve Çalış from the centre of Fethiye, and both charge the same flat fare of ₺59 on the 2-ride card (₺42 on a personal card). Line 3-23 follows the seafront; line 3-24 goes via Günlükbaşı.
- 3-23 (Fethiye to Çalış seafront): a route of about 10 km. On weekdays it runs every 7 to 12 minutes from 06:54; on Saturdays it runs from 07:05 to 23:40, every 10 to 20 minutes in the evening.
- 3-24 (via Günlükbaşı): every 8 to 15 minutes in the daytime, from 07:00 until about 21:40 on weekdays or 23:40 on Saturdays.
Neither line has a stop called otogar, so ask where to board when you leave the coach. Another option for Çalış is to stay on the airport coach a little earlier: its stop list on the way into Fethiye includes two stops in Günlükbaşı, the district on the Çalış side. The stop names are in Turkish, so tell the driver before you board that you are going to Çalış and ask to be let off at the nearest one. Check the Sunday timetables on the MUTTAŞ site for the day you travel. In season, boats are also used between Çalış and Fethiye; ask at the quay for the day's times and fare.
Option 2: Taxi From the Airport Rank
The Dalaman Airport Taxi Cooperative publishes fixed prices per car. At the time of writing the board shows ≈€54 (₺3,000) to Fethiye and ≈€63 (₺3,500) to Hisarönü / Ölüdeniz. There is no separate row for Ovacık or Çalış, so agree the fare and your exact address with the driver before you set off. The board prices have no night rate. Muğla's metered tariff is a ₺150 start, ₺50 per km and a ₺250 minimum.
Option 3: Private Transfer
Our transfer is private only: a Mercedes Vito for up to 6 passengers, a V-Class VIP, or a Sprinter for larger groups, with child seats on request. The price is per vehicle and shown before you pay, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. Our drivers speak English. Our driver waits just outside the arrivals exit and, after you land, sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp.
It is the easiest way to reach Hisarönü, Ovacık or Çalış after an international flight, as there is no coach to wait for and no change in Fethiye. If you want a stop on the way, or your hotel is on a narrow lane, ask us on WhatsApp before booking. You can compare routes on transfer prices or book on the Dalaman Airport Transfer page.
What Is Close By
Ölüdeniz and the Babadağ Cable Car
Ölüdeniz is the end of the 3-40 line. For the Blue Lagoon fees, the free public beach and the boat to Butterfly Valley, see our Ölüdeniz Blue Lagoon guide. The Babadağ cable car starts on the main Ölüdeniz road, and 3-40 has a stop named after it. On the operator's own site in October 2026 a return ticket was ₺950, with a student fare of ₺700, and the ticket is valid on the day of purchase only. The lower station is 59.2 km and about 1 h 15 min from DLM by road. Our Babadağ paragliding and cable car guide covers the stations, the weather rules and tandem flights.
Kayaköy
Dolmuş 3-44 runs from Fethiye through Ovacık and Hisarönü to Kayaköy, the empty hillside village of roofless stone houses. From Hisarönü the fare is ₺70 on the 2-ride card, and from Fethiye ₺115. Buses leave Fethiye about hourly from 06:45 to 17:00, and the last departures from Kayaköy run until 20:00. The site is open daily from 08:30 to 18:00 on the ministry page, with the ticket office closing at 17:30; those are summer hours, and winter hours are usually shorter, so check muze.gov.tr before you go. There is a waymarked footpath of 5 to 6 km (2 to 3 hours) between Kayaköy and Ölüdeniz. It is a link path rather than a stage of the Lycian Way. See our Kayaköy guide for the details.
The Start of the Lycian Way
The Lycian Way is a waymarked long-distance trail, researched, designed and waymarked by Kate Clow in 1999. The Culture Routes Society, the trail's official site, describes it as running from Fethiye to Antalya, about 760 km and roughly 35 days, and gives Ölüdeniz as the start. Trekking guides place the traditional trailhead at Ovacık, where the road leaves the town towards Ölüdeniz, marked by a large yellow sign. Take dolmuş 3-40; the trekking guide says to get off just south of the Ovacık and Hisarönü roundabout. The first stage from Ovacık to Faralya is about 12.8 km with roughly 765 m of climbing, according to a trekking guide. The Culture Routes Society recommends February to May or September to November for walking it.
Getting Back to Dalaman Airport
The same coach line runs from Fethiye bus station back to the airport, and on the way it also stops at the Çalış junction on the bypass road. Sample departures from the bus station were 03:45, 07:30, 13:00, 18:00 and 20:30 on Sunday 25 October, and 06:30, 07:30, 13:30, 17:00 and 18:30 on Monday 26 October, so the times differ from day to day. Check the MUTTAŞ page for your date, and leave extra time if you are catching an early flight, as the dolmuş to the bus station also needs time.
For an early morning or late flight, a pre-booked private transfer is simpler: give us your hotel address and flight time when you book. The price is per vehicle and shown before you pay.
