Spelling matters on the way in

Maps, road signs and official addresses use Yapracık. Searching for Yapacık may not find it, which is why the driver asks for the street and a phone number rather than relying on the name. If you were given the address verbally, check how it is written before you book. The same applies to the area known as Yaşamkent, because some homes marketed under that name are officially in Yapracık.

Where the neighbourhood sits

Yapracık is a former village beyond Bağlıca, just off the Eskişehir road. Its houses climb the southern slope of Meşe Dağı, a hill of 1,242 metres, and from the higher ground you look out over Ankara, with Çayyolu spread out below. Since 2007 the population has grown from under 600 to more than 7,000 as housing estates replaced fields, so you will see a mix of older village houses and newer blocks. There are picnic areas on the slopes too.

The drive from Esenboğa

You cross the capital from the north-east to the south-west, about 50 minutes without traffic, and finish on the Eskişehir road before turning up the hill. The last stretch matters: the streets get steeper and narrower as you climb, so the larger the vehicle, the more careful the approach. If you are staying high on the slope, tell us the street and the house or block number so the driver does not have to circle.

The view and the climb

The higher the address, the better the outlook over the city, and the longer the final approach. Houses near the main road are easy to reach; those on the upper slopes are on tighter streets where a larger vehicle needs extra care, so a Vito is usually the better choice than a Sprinter unless the group demands it.

Winter on the hill

The higher streets on Meşe Dağı can be icy after snow, and the road up may be slower than the drive across the city. If snow is forecast, keep your phone on and message us on WhatsApp if you worry about the last part; allowing a little extra time is the safest approach.

Bus or private transfer

By public transport it is a long trip with at least one change in the city centre: the airport coach to Kızılay, then the metro or a city bus, and still a ride up the hill. With bags, a group or a late flight, that is unrealistic. A taxi is possible, but you must explain the spelling and the hillside address to a driver who may not know it. A booked car goes straight to your door. If you are looking at the Etimesgut area more widely, see our pages for Etimesgut and Yaşamkent.

Meeting your driver

After landing you receive a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video, and the driver is waiting just outside the arrivals exit. Drivers speak English. A Mercedes Vito takes up to six passengers with luggage, and there is no extra charge for flight delays.

📍 Yapacık (Yapracık): Etimesgut's hillside edge

Yapacık, officially spelled Yapracık, is a former village on the south-western edge of Etimesgut, beyond Bağlıca and just off the Eskişehir road. Its houses climb the southern slope of Meşe Dağı, a 1,242-metre hill, and the higher ground looks out over Ankara, with the whole of Çayyolu spread out below.

Its land began to gain value in the 1970s, and since 2007 the population has grown from under 600 to more than 7,000 as housing estates spread over former fields. Part of the Yaşamkent development actually lies inside its boundary. The neighbourhood also has picnic areas, and finds here point to prehistoric settlement.

🔁 Going home: Yapacık back to Ankara Esenboğa Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Yapacık the drive back takes about 55 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4¼–4¾ hours before departure, and about 3¼–3¾ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:15 and 13:45.

Traffic: Ankara traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings, especially on the city-centre side of the airport road; leave earlier at those times.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is it Yapacık or Yapracık?

The official spelling on maps and signs is Yapracık. Searching for Yapacık may not return the neighbourhood, so send the street address when you book.

About 50 minutes without traffic, across the city from the north-east to the south-west, plus a little extra for the climb up the hill.

Is Yapracık the same as Yaşamkent?

Not exactly. Part of the Yaşamkent development lies inside Yapracık, so check the mahalle on your address.

Can the car reach houses high on the slope?

In most cases yes. Tell us the street and house or block number so the driver knows how far up to go.

What about winter weather?

The higher streets on the slopes of Meşe Dağı can be icy after snow. Allow a little extra time and message us on WhatsApp if you are worried.

Is there a direct bus from the airport?

No. You would ride the airport coach to Kızılay, change to the metro or a city bus, and still need a local ride up the hill.
