Yapracık has grown from fewer than 600 people in 2007 to over 7,000 as estates spread over former fields, and old village lanes sit beside new blocks. Not every street is easy for a stranger to find.
- Send the exact street and house or block number; the mahalle name alone is not enough.
- Check the spelling: Yapracık is the official form, and Yapacık may not show on a map.
- If you live in a home marketed as Yaşamkent, confirm which side of the boundary it is on, since part of that development is officially in Yapracık.
- Share a WhatsApp location pin if the entrance is off the main street. Drivers speak English.
Snow and ice
The higher streets on the slopes can be icy after snow, particularly early in the morning. If winter weather is forecast, choose an earlier pickup than you normally would and keep your luggage near the door, so the car does not wait on a slippery street. For flights in snowy weather you should also check the airline's updates before leaving.
Packing for the pickup
On a hillside street the driver may not be able to stop for long, so have bags at the door and everyone ready when the car arrives. If the road is shared with neighbours' cars, ask them to leave a space, and send us a photo or a pin of the house if the number is hard to see. A short message on WhatsApp when you are leaving the house helps the driver time the arrival.
What to expect at the terminal
The driver takes you to the departures entrance on the international or domestic side, depending on your flight, and helps with the bags. The booking guarantee is paid online and the rest is paid in cash to the driver. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup.
Why not go by coach
To catch an airport coach you would have to cross the city first, to Kızılay or AŞTİ, which is a long ride before the airport leg even starts. A taxi hailed on a hillside is unlikely to be waiting when you need it, and you would need to describe the address. A booked car is waiting at the agreed time. 📍 Yapacık (Yapracık): Etimesgut's hillside edge
Yapacık, officially spelled Yapracık, is a former village on the south-western edge of Etimesgut, beyond Bağlıca and just off the Eskişehir road. Its houses climb the southern slope of Meşe Dağı, a 1,242-metre hill, and the higher ground looks out over Ankara, with the whole of Çayyolu spread out below.
Its land began to gain value in the 1970s, and since 2007 the population has grown from under 600 to more than 7,000 as housing estates spread over former fields. Part of the Yaşamkent development actually lies inside its boundary. The neighbourhood also has picnic areas, and finds here point to prehistoric settlement.
- Spelling: maps, signs and official addresses use Yapracık; a search for 'Yapacık' may not find it.
- Yaşamkent overlap: some homes known as Yaşamkent are officially in Yapracık, so check the mahalle on the address.
- Winter: the higher streets on the slopes of Meşe Dağı can be icy after snow, so allow a little extra time then.
🛫 Yapacık to Ankara Esenboğa Airport: when to leave for your flight
The drive takes about 55 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Yapacık plan a pickup about 4¼–4¾ hours before an international flight and 3¼–3¾ hours before a domestic flight. Always follow your own airline’s advice.
Example: for an international flight at 14:00, book your pickup for between about 09:15 and 09:45.
