Dalaman Airport to Kalkan and Kaş

Updated 25 October 2026

Short answer: Kalkan is 121.9 km and about 1 hour 50 minutes from Dalaman Airport (DLM), and Kaş is 148.9 km and about 2 hours 20 minutes (Google figures). A private transfer costs from €122 to Kalkan and from €149 to Kaş per vehicle, with the exact price for your date shown before you pay. The airport taxi cooperative lists ₺6,500 for Kalkan and ₺8,000 for Kaş at the time of writing. There is no airport coach to either town: the cheapest route is the Havaş / MUTTAŞ coach to Fethiye bus station (≈€5.50 / ₺300), then a regional minibus. For Kalkan, Dalaman is clearly the closer airport; Kaş works from either Dalaman or Antalya.

Kalkan and Kaş sit at the far end of the Lycian coast, in Antalya province but much nearer to Dalaman than to Antalya's own airport. This guide compares the transfer, the taxi and the bus route, and then covers what to see on the way: Patara, Kaputaş, the ferry to Meis and Saklıkent Gorge.

Dalaman or Antalya for Kalkan and Kaş?

For Kalkan, Dalaman is the better airport by a wide margin. The drive is 121.9 km, while our Antalya Airport to Kaş and Kalkan guide puts Kaş about 195 km from Antalya and Kalkan around 25 km further, which is roughly 100 km more than from Dalaman. That guide allows about 3 to 3 hours 30 minutes to Kaş and a little longer to Kalkan, against about 1 hour 50 minutes from Dalaman.

For Kaş the gap is smaller: 148.9 km from Dalaman against about 195 km from Antalya. Both airports work, so choose by flight price and schedule. Antalya is the nearer airport for Olympos, Çıralı and Adrasan, and Dalaman is nearer for Fethiye, Ölüdeniz and Kalkan. By Google's figures Kaş is a further 27 km and about half an hour beyond Kalkan.

If you are still choosing a base, our Dalaman Airport guide shows the other resorts and journey times from the same airport.

Option 1: Private Transfer

Our driver tracks your flight and waits just outside the arrivals exit. After you land, the driver sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. Drivers speak English. The price is per vehicle, not per person, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. A Mercedes Vito takes up to 6 passengers with luggage, a V-Class VIP suits couples and small groups, and a Sprinter fits a larger party. Child seats are available on request.

The transfer to Kalkan starts from €122 per vehicle and the transfer to Kaş from €149. You can book on our Dalaman Airport Transfer page and compare other routes on transfer prices.

The last stretch matters in Kalkan. Many villas and hotels sit on steep, narrow streets above the town, and a driver who has the address and a contact number can usually get much closer than a stop in the centre. Send us the name of the villa or hotel when you book. In Kaş the harbour area has tight streets too, so a pin or a phone number for your host helps.

The price is for the transfer itself. We do not list a fixed price for Patara or for a stop at a beach on the way. If you want one, ask us on WhatsApp before booking, and please do not assume a stop is included.

Option 2: Airport Taxi

Taxis wait at the airport around the clock, with no night rate. The Dalaman Airport Taxi Cooperative publishes a price list by destination. At the time of writing it shows ₺6,500 to Kalkan, ₺8,000 to Kaş and ₺6,500 to Patara. These are list prices for the whole car, not per person, and they can change, so confirm the amount with the driver before you set off and ask how you can pay. A taxi suits a traveller who has not booked, but over this distance it is worth comparing the list with a booked transfer, which shows its price in advance.

Option 3: Coach to Fethiye, Then a Minibus

There is no direct public transport from the airport to Kalkan or Kaş, and no airport coach runs there. The route goes through Fethiye, and it takes two steps.

  1. Airport to Fethiye bus station. The Havaş / MUTTAŞ coach (line 48-25) takes about an hour and costs ≈€5.50 (₺300) per person. There are no reservations, and departures from the airport follow domestic landings. After an international flight you may therefore wait for the next coach. Our Dalaman Airport to Fethiye and Marmaris guide explains the coaches and the taxi rank in more detail.
  2. Fethiye to Kalkan or Kaş. Regular minibuses run along the coast from Fethiye bus station. Kalkan and Kaş are in Antalya province, and at the time of writing the Muğla municipal dolmuş network, which includes the airport coach, does not run to either town. Times and fares for this leg are set by the operators and change with the season, so check at the station and buy your ticket there.

With two legs, the airport wait and the change in Fethiye, this is a route for daytime arrivals with light luggage. It is a poor fit for a villa on a Kalkan hillside, for children, or for a late landing. If your flight arrives in the evening, a booked transfer or the airport taxi is the safer plan.

What to See Around Kalkan and Kaş

Kalkan is known for its villas and rooftop restaurants on a steep hillside above the sea; Kaş is a harbour town popular with divers and sailors. Both are good bases for the places below.

Patara: Ruins and a Very Long Beach

Patara is run by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and lies at Gelemiş in the Kaş district. It was the capital of the Lycian League and is traditionally the birthplace of St Nicholas. The ministry's page lists a Roman entrance arch dating to 100 AD, a theatre rebuilt after the earthquake of 147 AD, Hadrian's granary and a bouleuterion. The ancient city sits beside a beach of about 18 km, with dunes, and it is a nesting site for loggerhead turtles. The Lycian Way passes close by.

Xanthos, another Lycian site nearby, charged foreign visitors 3 euros in 2026.

Kaputaş Beach

Kaputaş is a small beach between Kalkan and Kaş, below the coast road. You reach it down many steps from the road, so wear proper shoes and carry less. It is very crowded in peak periods, and in May 2026 the press reported it at ninth place in the "Europe's Best Beaches 2026" list by European Best Destinations, the only Turkish beach on that list. The beach is run by Kaş Municipality. Check on arrival what the entry and sunbeds cost, because charges here have changed over the years. If you travel by transfer and want to stop, ask us on WhatsApp before booking.

The Ferry from Kaş to Meis (Kastellorizo)

Kaş is the departure port for day trips to Meis, the Greek island of Kastellorizo, which lies about 3 km off the coast. Foot passengers only: the boat does not take cars.

Saklıkent Gorge on the Way

Saklıkent is a deep canyon where you wade upstream between high rock walls, about 94 km and 1 hour 35 to 50 minutes from Dalaman Airport. By public transport you go through Fethiye and take dolmuş 5-13, which is a day trip rather than a stop on the way to Kalkan. If you travel by car, it can be fitted into the journey; ask us on WhatsApp before booking, and please do not assume a stop is included. Our Saklıkent Gorge guide has the fee, the walk and the timings.

Getting Back to the Airport

Work backwards from your flight, and allow for the 1 hour 50 minutes from Kalkan or 2 hours 20 minutes from Kaş, plus a buffer in summer. You can book the return together with your arrival on our Dalaman Airport Transfer page. If you go by public transport, the coach from Fethiye bus station to the airport leaves at set times listed on the MUTTAŞ page for line 48-25, and you need the minibus to Fethiye to connect with it, so leave a generous margin. For an early flight a booked car is the safer option.
