Galataport Cruise Ship Schedule: Which Ships Are in Istanbul and When
Short answer: Galataport doesn't publish a public cruise calendar; its website only shows the ships in port today. Below you'll find every listed call for the next three months, checked against two cruise schedule sites, CruiseTimetables and CruiseDig. Most ships that call at Galataport are on turnaround days, when one cruise ends and the next one starts in Istanbul. Galataport is Istanbul's cruise port, on the Karaköy–Tophane waterfront on the European side. Its main season runs from spring to autumn, but this winter weekly cruises starting and ending in Istanbul keep it busy all year. This page lists which ships are due and when, and shows the weekly pattern of the lines based here. It also explains how to get between the ship and Istanbul Airport (IST), Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) or your hotel on the day.
Cruise ships at Galataport: the next three months
The tables show the date, the ship, the cruise line, the time in port and the type of call. A turnaround means passengers disembark and embark in Istanbul: one cruise ends and the next begins. A port call means the ship visits for the day, or overnight, and its passengers go ashore to see the city. Times are local and can change at short notice, so always confirm them with your cruise line.

The weekly rhythm: which day your ship turns around
A few lines use Istanbul as their home port and run the same weekly cruise from it. If you're sailing with one of them, your embarkation and disembarkation day is almost always the same weekday. The pattern below comes from the lines' listed calls; check your own booking for the exact date.
| Ship | Cruise line | Day of the week | Period | Usual time in port | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aroya | Aroya Cruises | Saturday (a few calls on other days) | Oct 2026 – Sep 2027, with no Istanbul calls from 7 to 26 Feb 2027 | 06:00–17:00 until March; 10:00–22:00 from April 2027 | Turnaround |
| MSC Orchestra | MSC Cruises | Wednesday | 4 Nov 2026 – 6 Jan 2027 and 17 Mar – 21 Apr 2027 | 09:00–20:00 | Turnaround |
| MSC Lirica | MSC Cruises | Wednesday | 13 Jan – 10 Mar 2027 | 09:00–20:00 | Turnaround |
| Costa Pacifica | Costa Cruises | Sunday (once on Monday 17 May) | 18 Apr – 31 Oct 2027 | 07:00 to 17:30 or 18:00 | Turnaround |
| MSC Splendida | MSC Cruises | Every 9 days, so the weekday changes | 27 Apr – 2 Nov 2027 | 10:00–23:00 | Turnaround |
| Viking ships | Viking Cruises | No fixed weekday, roughly once a month | All year | Overnight: one cruise ends on the first day, the next starts on the second; times not published | Turnaround |
So in winter, from November 2026 to March 2027, expect Aroya on Saturdays and an MSC ship on Wednesdays. From late April 2027, Costa Pacifica adds Sunday turnarounds and MSC Splendida comes in every nine days. MSC Orchestra returns to its Wednesday cruises from 27 October 2027.

Euro amounts at €1 = ₺55.6.
Aroya's calls are listed by CruiseTimetables only, which links to Aroya's own booking site. Some schedule sites also show MSC Sinfonia on Wednesdays this winter, but the winter ship announced for Istanbul is MSC Orchestra, so we leave Sinfonia out.
The season at a glance: the busiest months in 2027
Spring and autumn are the busiest seasons, and the weekly winter cruises keep a steady base from November to March. These are the calls listed for each month of 2027 as of 16 October 2026. Late-2027 programmes are not complete yet, so the totals for those months are likely to grow.
| Month (2027) | Listed calls | Of which turnarounds or cruises starting or ending in Istanbul |
|---|---|---|
| January | 12 | 12 |
| February | 6 | 6 |
| March | 12 | 12 |
| April | 16 | 14 |
| May | 27 | 20 |
| June | 20 | 15 |
| July | 24 | 16 |
| August | 21 | 16 |
| September | 18 | 14 |
| October | 31 | 19 |
| November | 13 | 5 |
| December | 9 | 8 |
October 2027 has the most listed calls, followed by May, July and August. February is the quietest month. The gap between the two columns is mostly port calls, plus a few calls with no confirmed type.
Days with three or more ships
The port can handle up to 3 ships and 15,000 passengers a day, according to Galataport. As of 16 October 2026, 16 days up to the end of 2027 list three or more ships in port on the same day, for example Wednesday 4 November 2026 and several Saturdays and Sundays in summer 2027. On days like these, expect queues at luggage collection and passport control, a long taxi queue and heavy traffic around Karaköy and Tophane. Book your transfer early and leave more time than usual.
Disembarking in Istanbul: from the ship to the airport
On a turnaround day the ship usually docks early in the morning. The docking time in the schedule is not the time you walk off: your cruise line gives each cabin a disembarkation time or group, usually spread across the morning. You then collect your luggage and clear passport control in the underground terminal before you leave. This part takes longer when several ships are in port.
- Drive to the airport: about 45–60 minutes to Istanbul Airport outside rush hour, and 45–75 minutes to Sabiha Gökçen, because the drive crosses the Bosphorus.
- Your flight: with a morning disembarkation, a flight from IST after about 14:00 leaves a comfortable margin (our estimate, not a cruise-line rule).
- Luggage: cruise suitcases for two quickly fill a standard taxi, and the tram and metro mean stairs and several changes. If your flight is in the evening, Easy Point left luggage at the Block D entrance has lockers by the hour.
- Viking guests: Viking's turnarounds are overnight, so check whether your cruise ends on the first or the second day.
With a private transfer, your driver waits at the meeting point just outside the cruise terminal. Once you disembark, the driver contacts you on WhatsApp with the exact meeting point and a short video showing the way, then helps with your luggage. A Mercedes Vito for up to 6 passengers costs from €44 per vehicle to Istanbul Airport and from €52 per vehicle to Sabiha Gökçen; the exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay. There is no extra charge for traffic or if disembarkation runs late. A yellow taxi to IST costs roughly €40–50 (₺2,200–2,800) on the meter.

Embarking in Istanbul: getting to the ship on time
Check your cruise line's check-in window before you travel. Many lines give you a check-in time or slot, and it is not the same as the ship's departure time. Then work backwards from it.
- Fly in the day before if you can. A delayed flight on the day can put your embarkation at risk. A night in Karaköy or Galata puts you a short walk or ride from the port.
- Flying in on the day? Leave a wide margin between landing and check-in. Passport control and baggage claim at IST can take a while, and the drive is about 45–60 minutes outside rush hour.
- Busy days: if two or three ships are in port, the security check at the terminal entrance and passport control take longer. Don't plan to arrive at the last minute.
Coming from Istanbul Airport, your driver tracks your flight and meets you just outside the arrivals exit; once you land, they contact you on WhatsApp with the exact meeting point. You go straight to Galataport and are dropped off at the terminal drop-off point closest to the passenger entrance in Block D. A Mercedes Vito for up to 6 passengers costs from €44 per vehicle from IST and from €57 per vehicle from Sabiha Gökçen; the exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay. A taxi from SAW costs roughly €38–45 (₺2,100–2,500) on the meter, plus the bridge toll.
See Istanbul Airport to Galataport transfers and Sabiha Gökçen to Galataport transfers. Our guide from Istanbul Airport to Galataport compares every option, and the Galataport cruise port guide covers the terminal entrance, the checks and left luggage.
A port-call day: a few hours in Istanbul
If your ship is visiting for the day, you don't need an airport transfer. Most port-call ships arrive in the morning or early afternoon, and many stay overnight, which gives you an evening in the city too.
- The old city: the T1 tram stop Tophane is about 6 minutes' walk from the Block D terminal entrance, and the tram reaches Sultanahmet in 5 stops, about 10 minutes.
- On foot: Galata Tower is about 1 km uphill from the port, and the Karaköy ferry pier is 8–13 minutes' walk away.
- Back on board: plan to return well before your ship's all-aboard time, not its departure time. Traffic in the city centre can be slow, especially in the late afternoon.
If you'd rather see the city with your own driver, we also run private Istanbul tours. Tell us your ship and your all-aboard time when you ask.
How to check which ships are in port today
Galataport's own website shows only the ships in port today, at the top of each page. For other days, these cruise schedule sites list calls months and years ahead:
- CruiseTimetables: every cruise that calls at Istanbul, with times and whether passengers embark or disembark.
- CruiseDig: arrivals and departures with approximate passenger numbers. It does not list Aroya.
- CruiseMapper: a monthly calendar, including some small ships the others miss.
- Galataport port operations (in Turkish): today's ships.
The sites sometimes disagree on a date or a time, and itineraries change because of weather or operational reasons. For your own cruise, your cruise line's documents and app are the final word.

Frequently asked questions
Which cruise ships are in Istanbul today?
Galataport's website shows the ships in port today at the top of each page. For the coming weeks, see the tables on this page or a cruise schedule site such as CruiseTimetables, CruiseDig or CruiseMapper, and confirm times with your cruise line.
How many cruise ships can dock at Galataport at once?
According to Galataport, the port can handle up to 3 ships and 15,000 passengers a day. Days with three ships in port bring longer queues at passport control and heavier traffic around Karaköy and Tophane.
Is Istanbul a turnaround port?
Yes. Most ships that call at Galataport are on turnaround days, when one cruise ends and the next begins in Istanbul. In winter 2026–27, Aroya turns around on Saturdays and MSC Orchestra or MSC Lirica on Wednesdays; from late April 2027, Costa Pacifica adds Sunday turnarounds.
Are there cruise ships in Istanbul in winter?
Yes. In winter 2026–27 there are weekly cruises from Istanbul: Aroya on most Saturdays and an MSC ship on Wednesdays, plus Viking turnarounds about once a month. February is the quietest month, with no Aroya calls from 7 to 26 February 2027.
What is the busiest month for cruise ships in Istanbul?
Of the calls listed as of 16 October 2026, October 2027 has the most, followed by May, July and August 2027. Late-2027 programmes are not complete yet, so these numbers can still change.
How early should I leave for my cruise at Galataport?
Work backwards from your cruise line's check-in time, not the ship's departure time. From Istanbul Airport, allow about 45–60 minutes for the drive outside rush hour, plus extra time on busy days. If you're flying in, arriving the day before is the safest plan.
How do I get from Galataport to Istanbul Airport after my cruise?
By taxi or a pre-booked private transfer, about 45–60 minutes outside rush hour. A transfer costs from €44 per vehicle for a Mercedes Vito with up to 6 passengers; your driver waits just outside the cruise terminal and contacts you on WhatsApp with the exact meeting point once you disembark. Public transport works but needs several changes.
What time should my flight be after a cruise ends in Istanbul?
There is no official rule, but with a morning disembarkation, a flight from Istanbul Airport after about 14:00 leaves a comfortable margin (our estimate). Count your disembarkation time, passport control, the 45–60 minute drive and check-in at IST.
Where is the cruise port in Istanbul?
Istanbul's cruise ships dock at Galataport, on the Karaköy–Tophane waterfront on the European side. The passenger terminal is underground, with its entrance in Block D, a few minutes' walk from the Tophane and Karaköy tram stops.
Ending or starting your cruise in Istanbul?
Tell us your ship and your disembarkation or check-in time, and your driver will be there. A Mercedes Vito for up to 6 passengers costs from €44 per vehicle between Galataport and Istanbul Airport; the exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay. No extra charge for traffic or ship delays.
