How to get from Istanbul Airport to JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus

Four options cover almost every traveller. What separates them is the last part of the trip, in Karaköy itself, where the nearest metro is up a steep hill and the streets near the water are narrow.

Private transfer to JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus

When you book, add your flight number; we watch the flight and adjust the pickup if it lands early or late. After you land, your driver sends a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video. Airport rules in Türkiye don't permit drivers to wait inside the terminal, so you're met just outside the arrivals exit and walked to the car.

The usual route comes down the O-2 ring road and Piyalepaşa Bulvarı, then along Tersane Caddesi and Necatibey Caddesi, reaching Kemankeş Caddesi by way of Tophane İskele Caddesi. Kemankeş Caddesi is a one-way street with pavements on both sides, and your driver stops as close to the hotel entrance as the street allows.

Vehicles and VIP transfer

Mercedes Vito for up to six passengers, Mercedes Sprinter for up to 15. The VIP transfer uses the black VIP Vito or VIP Sprinter with custom-designed interiors. Child and booster seats are available on request.

What a taxi costs

The yellow taxi tariff is ₺71.94 at the start plus ₺47.92 per km, with no night rate. To the hotel that means about ₺2,200 on the usual route, or up to ₺2,500 if the driver uses the tolled Northern Marmara Motorway; tolls and slow-traffic time are paid on top. The deadline for card terminals linked to the meter is now 16 November 2026, so have cash ready. More in our taxi price guide.

Public transport: tram, funicular and Havaist

There's no Havaist stop in Karaköy, but the hotel is a flat walk from two tram stops and a funicular station:

The M11 doesn't run overnight, so after a late landing a car is the realistic choice.

From Sabiha Gökçen by ferry

Landing at Sabiha Gökçen instead? Take the M4 to Kadıköy (about 52 minutes), walk about 300 m to the pier and board the boat to Karaköy. The crossing takes about 20 minutes, with boats every 20 minutes by day and every 30 minutes from 21:00 to 01:00, and the hotel is about 440 to 640 m from the pier, depending on where the boat docks. Our Istanbul Airport to Galataport guide covers the area in more detail.

About the hotel

JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus opened in February 2020 as the first JW Marriott in Istanbul. It occupies the restored Veli Alemdar Han, a former caravanserai for shipping merchants, beside Galataport; the cruise terminal entrance is about 920 m away on foot.

Searches for JW Marriott Istanbul often show the JW Marriott Istanbul Marmara Sea first. That is a different hotel, in Ataköy, so make sure your booking names the Bosphorus hotel in Karaköy.

Airports Transfer Turkey is an independent transfer company and is not affiliated with JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus.

🔁 Going home: JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus back to Istanbul Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus the drive back takes about 50 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4½ hours before departure, and about 3–3½ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:30 and 14:00.

Traffic: Istanbul traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings (about 07:00–10:00) and evenings (about 17:00–20:00), and on the bridges between the Asian and European sides; leave earlier at those times.
