The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul is in Süzer Plaza, a tower in Elmadağ on the slope between Taksim and the Bosphorus at Dolmabahçe. From Istanbul Airport (IST) it is about 42 km by road: around 45 minutes when the roads are clear and up to 90 minutes in heavy traffic. The usual route runs through two city tunnels, and the second one comes out close to the hotel.

Book a private transfer and the whole trip is a single step. Your driver tracks your flight, sends you a WhatsApp message after you land and meets you just outside the arrivals exit. One price covers the whole vehicle and you see it in full before paying; the car then goes straight to Süzer Plaza.

How to get from Istanbul Airport to The Ritz-Carlton

The hotel is a short walk downhill from Taksim, so public transport is a realistic choice. The catch is the walk at the end, and how much you are carrying.

Fares as of October 2026. Both the metro and the coach end at Taksim, which sits above the hotel, so the last stretch is on foot and downhill.

Your private transfer to Süzer Plaza

Add your flight number and the hotel when you book. We follow the flight, so if it lands early or late your pickup moves with it. After you land, your driver sends a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video of the way there, and waits just outside the arrivals exit. Airport rules in Türkiye don't let drivers wait inside the terminal.

The usual route follows the airport road and the O-2 ring road to Hasdal, then the Piyalepaşa–Kağıthane and Bomonti–Dolmabahçe tunnels, which bring you out a short distance from the hotel. Süzer Plaza stands between two one-way streets, Askerocağı Caddesi and Dolmabahçe Gazhane Caddesi, and your driver takes you to the hotel entrance.

Choosing a vehicle

A Mercedes Vito takes up to six passengers, and a Mercedes Sprinter up to 15. For a VIP transfer, book the black VIP Vito or VIP Sprinter, both with custom-designed interiors. Child seats and booster seats are available on request.

Metro and Havaist: up to Taksim, then downhill

Both public routes from the airport finish at Taksim, roughly 45–50 m higher than the hotel, so the final walk is all downhill.

  1. Metro: take the M11 from the station under the terminal to Gayrettepe (about 30 minutes), then the M2 towards Yenikapı for three stops: Şişli-Mecidiyeköy, Osmanbey and Taksim. Leave by the north exit on the Gezi Park side (Cumhuriyet Caddesi) and walk about 550 m, roughly seven minutes, down Askerocağı Caddesi to Süzer Plaza. Allow an hour to an hour and a quarter in all.
  2. Havaist HVL-9: go down to floor -2 and board HVL-9 to Taksim at platform 16. It costs ₺470 with an Istanbulkart, the Havaist app or an online ticket, or ₺590 with a contactless bank card; cash isn't accepted. Ride to the end of the line at Taksim and walk about 700 m, around ten minutes, downhill to the hotel. Some trips also stop at Beşiktaş, but that stop is no closer. Don't board HVL-11, which goes to Sabiha Gökçen.

The M11 doesn't run overnight, while HVL-9 has night departures from the airport at 00:30, 01:15, 02:15 and 04:30. Our Istanbul Airport to Taksim guide covers both routes step by step.

Taxi to The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul

Yellow taxis from the airport run on the meter: ₺71.94 to start, then ₺47.92 per km, with a ₺230 minimum and no night rate. For the roughly 42 km to Süzer Plaza that comes to about ₺2,100, rising to about ₺2,600 if the driver uses the longer northern motorway. Tolls and slow-traffic time are added to the meter.

The rule requiring card terminals linked to the meter now takes effect on 16 November 2026, so until then keep some cash for the fare. Current rates and tips are in our taxi prices guide.

About the hotel and Süzer Plaza

The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul opened in October 2001 in Süzer Plaza, a 34-floor tower at Askerocağı Caddesi 6. The hotel describes its setting as the Dolmabahçe area, overlooking the Bosphorus; the gate of Dolmabahçe Palace is about 1 km away on foot. The nearest bus stop, Dolmabahçe Gazhane Caddesi, is about 190 m from the building, and the Taşkışla station of the Maçka cable car is around 600 m away.

Beşiktaş's stadium is only about 250 m from the hotel. On home-match days Havaist reroutes HVL-9, so check its notices if you plan to arrive by coach that day.

🔁 Going home: Ritz-Carlton Istanbul back to Istanbul Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Ritz-Carlton Istanbul the drive back takes about 40 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4¼ hours before departure, and about 3–3¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:45 and 14:00.

Traffic: Istanbul traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings (about 07:00–10:00) and evenings (about 17:00–20:00), and on the bridges between the Asian and European sides; leave earlier at those times.
