Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul (often typed as Swissotel Bosphorus) stands on the hillside in Maçka, above Dolmabahçe and the Beşiktaş shore. It is about 43 km from Istanbul Airport (IST): around 45 minutes when the roads are clear and up to an hour and a half at busy times, without crossing the Bosphorus.
No metro station is close to the hotel, so the last stretch, about 1.6 km on foot, is the awkward part of any public route. A private transfer avoids it. Your driver tracks your flight, messages you on WhatsApp after you land, meets you just outside the arrivals exit and drives you up to the hotel's entrance, for one price per vehicle that you see before you pay.

Istanbul Airport to Swissôtel: comparing the options
The hotel is about 1.6 km on foot from the nearest metro station and sits well above the shore, so every public route needs an extra leg at the end.

The last stretch: Maçka hill and the hotel driveway
The hotel's official address is Acısu Sokağı 19, in the Vişnezade quarter of Maçka. Cars reach it along the stone-paved Acısu Sokağı, from Bayıldım Caddesi or Süleyman Seba Caddesi, and finish at a one-way turning circle in front of the entrance. That is where your driver drops you, with no luggage to carry up the hill.
The hotel stands roughly 45 m above sea level, against about 10 m at Kabataş, so any walk from the shore is uphill: about 1.3 km from the Havaist stop at Beşiktaş Meydan and about 1.2 km from Beşiktaş pier. Beşiktaş's stadium is around 300 m away, so allow a little extra time on home-match days.
Swissôtel The Bosphorus opened in 1991, after building work began in 1989. The hotel says it is right next to Dolmabahçe Palace and that its historic gardens were once part of the palace grounds.
Booking your private transfer to Swissôtel
Book with your flight number and the hotel name. We track the flight, so a delay or an early landing simply shifts the pickup. After you land, your driver sends you a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video, then waits just outside the arrivals exit. Airport rules in Türkiye don't allow drivers to wait inside the terminal.
The usual route takes the airport road and the O-2 ring road to Hasdal, then the Piyalepaşa–Kağıthane and Bomonti–Dolmabahçe tunnels and Bayıldım Caddesi up to the hotel.
Vehicles and VIP transfers
Travel in a Mercedes Vito with up to six people, or a Mercedes Sprinter with up to 15. The black VIP Vito and VIP Sprinter, with custom-designed interiors, are our VIP transfer vehicles. Child and booster seats are available on request.

Metro, bus 30A, cable car and Havaist
If you travel light, these are the realistic public routes to the hotel:
- Metro and bus 30A: take the M11 from under the terminal to Gayrettepe (about 30 minutes), then the M2 towards Yenikapı for two stops to Osmanbey. From Osmanbey, city bus 30A runs via Pangaltı, Nişantaşı, Maçka Demokrasi Parkı and Maçka to the Vişnezade stop, five stops in all, about 230 m from the hotel. On weekdays, 30A departures run every 6–10 minutes between about 06:10 and 23:50.
- Cable car (daytime only): ride the M2 on to Taksim, walk about 670 m to the Taşkışla station of the TF1 cable car, cross to Maçka in three and a half minutes and walk about 570 m to the hotel. The cable car runs from 08:00 to 19:00.
- Havaist HVL-9: from floor -2, platform 16, for ₺470 with an Istanbulkart, the Havaist app or an online ticket, or ₺590 with a contactless bank card; no cash. Don't board HVL-11, which goes to Sabiha Gökçen. Neither HVL-9 stop is close: Beşiktaş Meydan, served by only some trips, is about 1.3 km uphill, and Taksim about 1.7 km away, so most people finish with a short taxi from Taksim.
The M11 doesn't run overnight; HVL-9 does, with departures at 00:30, 01:15, 02:15 and 04:30. See the M11 metro guide and our Beşiktaş and Şişli guide for more detail.
Taxi from Istanbul Airport to Swissôtel
A yellow taxi costs ₺71.94 to start and ₺47.92 per km, with a ₺230 minimum. There is no night rate, a point the hotel's own website also makes. For the 43 km to Maçka the meter shows about ₺2,100, or up to about ₺2,600 if the driver takes the longer northern motorway, plus any tolls and slow-traffic time.
Card terminals linked to taxi meters become compulsory on 16 November 2026, after the deadline was extended, so carry cash until then. Our taxi prices guide has the full tariff.

🔁 Going home: Swissotel The Bosphorus back to Istanbul Airport
You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
From Swissotel The Bosphorus the drive back takes about 40 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4¼ hours before departure, and about 3–3¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:45 and 14:00.
Traffic: Istanbul traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings (about 07:00–10:00) and evenings (about 17:00–20:00), and on the bridges between the Asian and European sides; leave earlier at those times.
