Flying out of Istanbul Airport (IST) after a stay at Shangri-La Bosphorus? The airport is about 43 km north of the hotel, roughly 45 minutes by car when the roads are clear. Weekday evenings in Beşiktaş are another matter, so build in a margin.

Your pickup at Shangri-La Bosphorus
Give us your flight time when you book and we'll suggest when to be collected. Your driver comes along the hotel's own access lane and waits at the entrance, so there's no need to walk out to the main road with your bags. Once the luggage is loaded, you head up through Beşiktaş towards the airport motorway, and you're dropped at the departures level, close to your airline's check-in area.

Leaving Beşiktaş: when traffic bites
The first few kilometres decide how long the trip takes. Cars leave Beşiktaş up Barbaros Bulvarı and join Büyükdere Caddesi before reaching the ring road, and both are slow on weekday mornings (roughly 07:00 to 10:00) and evenings (roughly 17:00 to 20:00). Beşiktaş home-match days bring extra traffic to the area as well. If your flight falls in one of those windows, ask for an earlier pickup.
Taxi, Havaist and metro from the hotel
A metered yellow taxi to the airport costs about ₺2,200–2,700 (₺71.94 to start, ₺47.92 per km, no night rate), with tolls and slow-traffic time on top. The card-terminal rule has been postponed to 16 November 2026, so have cash ready until then. More in our taxi price guide.
On public transport, the simplest choice is Havaist HVL-9 from Beşiktaş Meydan, about 550 m from the hotel on the flat, but only some departures call there; check the timetable for that stop or board at Taksim. 🛫 Shangri-La Bosphorus to Istanbul Airport: when to leave for your flight
The drive takes about 45 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Shangri-La Bosphorus plan a pickup about 4–4½ hours before an international flight and 3–3½ hours before a domestic flight. Always follow your own airline’s advice.
Example: for an international flight at 14:00, book your pickup for between about 09:30 and 10:00.
- Pickup: you choose the pickup time when you book; your driver waits at your hotel entrance or at your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
- Drop-off: the departures level (upper floor) of the terminal, at the entrance nearest your airline’s check-in area.
- Traffic: Istanbul traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings (about 07:00–10:00) and evenings (about 17:00–20:00), and on the bridges between the Asian and European sides; leave earlier at those times.
- At the airport: At Istanbul Airport there is a security check at the terminal entrance, before check-in, and the walk to the furthest gates can be long.
