Prices are "from" prices per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers) and are shown before you pay. "Usually" means the hours come from secondary sources, so check the mall's own site before you go; restaurant and café areas may stay open later or close earlier than the shops, and holiday hours can differ.
The Malls One by One
Zorlu Center, Beşiktaş
Zorlu Center sits between Levazım and Zincirlikuyu, on the Vadi Caddesi side of Beşiktaş. It is an upscale mall that also houses Zorlu PSM, a large performing arts centre, and it opened in 2013. The mall's own FAQ says it is open from 10:00 to 22:00 every day, that Levazım and Zincirlikuyu are within walking distance, and that a tunnel links it to the metro and Metrobüs. The car park holds 2,000 cars and valet parking is offered at the Zincirlikuyu and Levazım entrances.
İstinyePark, Sarıyer
İstinyePark has both enclosed and open-air sections and is known for its luxury brands. The official site lists 10:00 to 22:00 seven days a week, covered parking for 2,000 vehicles and the first three hours free. There is no metro at the door. The official site names İETT bus lines to Beşiktaş, Taksim and Mecidiyeköy. By rail, İTÜ-Ayazağa on the M2 is the closest station, but the walk is long, so plan a bus or a short taxi ride for the last stretch.
Kanyon, Levent
Kanyon opened in 2006 and is an open-air design by Tabanlıoğlu, Jerde and Arup. It is the easiest mall to reach by metro from the airport, because the M2 stops at Levent, a few minutes' walk away. Secondary sources list about 160 stores, a tax refund desk on the ground floor and parking for around 2,300 cars. Hours are usually 10:00 to 22:00; check kanyon.com.tr.
Emaar Square Mall, Üsküdar
Emaar Square is the main mall on the Asian side and is a better fit for Sabiha Gökçen than for Istanbul Airport. By road it is roughly half the distance from SAW compared with IST, according to routing data. Press guides send visitors by the M4 to Göztepe or Ünalan, then a walk of about 20 minutes or a short taxi ride. It also has an aquarium inside; prices change, so check the mall's site. Hours are usually 10:00 to 22:00.
Mall of İstanbul, Başakşehir
Mall of İstanbul opened in 2014 and lists 470 stores. Besides the shops it has MOİPARK, an indoor amusement park, and the MOİ Sahne stage. Hours are 10:00 to 22:00 from Sunday to Thursday and 10:00 to 22:30 on Friday and Saturday, and holidays may differ. The site lists parking for 4,000 vehicles, baby-care rooms and two prayer rooms. The M9 metro is directly linked to the Masko–Mall of İstanbul stop. Since the M11 was extended to Halkalı in June 2026, you can ride the M11 to Olimpiyatköy and change to the M9 for three stops to Masko. It is the mall closest to Istanbul Airport by road, about 32 km, against about 66 km from SAW.
Vadistanbul, Sarıyer
Vadistanbul is a 760 m open-air boulevard with more than 270 stores, according to istanbul.com, and a cinema and children's areas. Its own site describes the "Havaray" funicular from Seyrantepe metro station, running from 07:15 to 23:05 on weekdays and weekends, and buses 50F, 50D, 50H, 62H and K3. Parking has three free hours. Rail from the airport needs several changes (M11, M2 to Sanayi Mahallesi, a shuttle to Seyrantepe, then the funicular), so a car is much easier here.
Cevahir and Akasya
İstanbul Cevahir in Şişli opened in 2005 and has more than 200 brands on six floors, with three free hours of parking. Use the M2 to Şişli-Mecidiyeköy and take the "Şişli" exit. Akasya is on the Asian side, a short walk from Ünalan on the M4, and is closer to SAW than to IST. Hours for both are usually 10:00 to 22:00. The Nişantaşı shopping streets are a separate day out; see our Istanbul Airport to Nişantaşı guide.
Getting There From Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen
The malls fall into two groups. Zorlu, Kanyon, Cevahir, İstinyePark and Vadistanbul are on the European side. Routing data puts Zorlu, Kanyon, İstinyePark and Vadistanbul at about 35 to 42 km from IST in free-flowing traffic, and Zorlu and Kanyon are about as far from SAW. Mall of İstanbul is the closest to IST, and Emaar Square and Akasya are closest to SAW. Weekday rush hours and weekends add a lot to any of these drives.
- Metro from IST: take the M11 to Gayrettepe (about 30 minutes), then the M2. Levent (Kanyon) is one stop north and Şişli-Mecidiyeköy (Cevahir) one stop south. Allow about 40 to 55 minutes in total. The visitor fare is about €1.70 (₺94) in total. See our M11 metro guide and the Istanbulkart guide.
- From SAW: the M4 runs to Kadıköy in about 52 minutes for ≈€0.85 (₺46.20) with an Istanbulkart, and passes the stations used for Emaar Square and Akasya; see the SAW M4 guide. The Havabüs SG-2 to Taksim stops at Levent, which suits Kanyon (Havabüs guide).
- Taxi: the meter has no night rate and tolls are extra. A taxi from IST to Beşiktaş or Şişli usually costs ≈€33–47 (₺1,850–2,600), and SAW to Üsküdar ≈€32–43 (₺1,800–2,400). See Istanbul Airport taxi prices.
- Private transfer: your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit. After you land, they send the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp, and the drivers speak English. There is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays, and child seats are available on request. Shopping bags and suitcases ride in the same vehicle, which is the main advantage over the metro when you arrive loaded.
Route pages with the full price: Beşiktaş, Şişli, Sarıyer, Başakşehir and Üsküdar from IST, and Şişli, Sarıyer, Başakşehir and Üsküdar from SAW. For a full comparison see transfer prices. Tax-Free Shopping: How the VAT Refund Works
The rules below apply to foreign passport holders who do not live in Türkiye, and to Turkish and TRNC citizens who live abroad.
- Minimum spend: 1,000 lira per invoice, excluding VAT, since 1 February 2024 (Resmî Gazete, 18 January 2024). Some operator sites still show the old 100 lira figure. The minimum applies per invoice, so several items on one invoice add up.
- Time limit: the goods must leave Türkiye within three months of the invoice date.
- At the shop: ask for a tax-free form with your passport and keep the invoice. Zorlu Center has a Tax Free Zone on the Square Floor, open 10:00 to 22:00 on mall days. Cevahir points you to the info desk on the third floor, and secondary sources place the Kanyon tax-refund desk on its ground floor. Florentia Village, the outlet next to the airport, also offers tax-free forms.
At Istanbul Airport
- Checked luggage: after check-in and before passport control, take the bag with the goods to the customs approval point. Turkish Airlines passengers use counters G3-4-5; other airlines use K25-26-27.
- Hand luggage: the customs point is on the right-hand corner after passport control.
- Refund: collect it at the Global Exchange points to the left and right behind the information desk after passport control. Have the goods, forms, invoices, boarding pass and passport ready.
At Sabiha Gökçen, the Planet kiosk is in departures, on the left side after passport control, and the operator lists it as open 24 hours. Planet lists a cash fee at its Istanbul Airport refund points but none at the SAW kiosk; read its terms before you pick cash. Arrive earlier than usual, and keep the goods easy to reach until customs has checked them.
Planning a Shopping Day
- Pick one district per day. Zorlu, Kanyon, Cevahir and the Nişantaşı streets are close together in Beşiktaş and Şişli; İstinyePark and Vadistanbul are both in Sarıyer; Emaar Square and Akasya share the Asian side.
- Shop early in the trip, claim late. Keep the invoices together in one folder, because the refund is claimed on departure.
- Family needs: Zorlu Center lists free wheelchairs and a children's playground, Mall of İstanbul has baby-care rooms and prayer rooms, and Cevahir lists pushchairs and a baby-care room.
- Near the airport: Florentia Village is an outlet centre a few minutes from Istanbul Airport, one M11 stop away at İhsaniye. See our Florentia Village guide and the airport to Florentia transfer.

Yes. Zorlu Center and İstinyePark state that they are open every day from 10:00 to 22:00, and Mall of İstanbul is open seven days a week. Restaurant areas may keep different hours, and religious holidays can change the schedule, so check the mall's site.
What is the minimum spend for tax-free shopping in Turkey?
1,000 lira per invoice, excluding VAT, since 1 February 2024. Older operator pages still quote 100 lira, which is out of date. The goods must leave Türkiye within three months of the invoice date.
Where do I claim the tax refund at Istanbul Airport?
Get customs approval first: for checked luggage, before passport control after check-in (Turkish Airlines counters G3-4-5, other airlines K25-26-27); for hand luggage, at the customs point on the right-hand corner after passport control. Then collect the refund at the Global Exchange points behind the information desk after passport control.
Which mall is closest to Istanbul Airport?
Mall of İstanbul in Başakşehir is the closest large mall, about 32 km by road, with a transfer from €44 per vehicle. Florentia Village, an outlet centre, is only a few minutes from the airport and one M11 stop away.
Which mall is closest to Sabiha Gökçen Airport?
Emaar Square and Akasya on the Asian side. Emaar Square is roughly 29 km by road from SAW, and our Üsküdar transfer from SAW starts at €53 per vehicle.
Can I reach the malls by metro from the airport?
