Çırağan Palace Kempinski sits on the European shore of the Bosphorus, between Beşiktaş and Ortaköy, about 44 km from Istanbul Airport (IST). The drive takes around 45 minutes on a clear road and up to an hour and a half at rush hour. It stays on the European side the whole way, so there is no bridge to cross.

With a private transfer your driver tracks your flight, messages you on WhatsApp after you land and waits just outside the arrivals exit. The price is per vehicle and you see it in full before paying; after that it is a straight ride to the palace, with no changes and no queues.

How to get from Istanbul Airport to Çırağan Palace

There are four realistic ways to make the trip. They differ less in distance than in how many times you change and what you do with your suitcases.

OptionTimeCostChangesBest for
Private transfer45–90 minOne price per vehicle, see the table aboveNoneFamilies, groups, late arrivals, plenty of luggage
Taxi45–90 minAbout ₺2,200–2,700 on the meterNoneOne or two people who don't mind the taxi queue
Havaist bus + city bus1½–2 hours₺470 coach fare + one Istanbulkart rideOneLight travellers on a budget
Metro, funicular and busAbout 1½ hoursA few Istanbulkart ridesThreeBackpack only, daytime arrivals

Fares as of October 2026. A taxi or a pre-booked car is the only option that delivers you to the hotel door; every public route ends with a city bus or a walk along Çırağan Caddesi.

Private transfer to Çırağan Palace: how it works

Book online with your flight number and the hotel name. We follow the flight in real time, so an early or late landing simply moves your pickup. Once you've landed, your driver sends you a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video of how to find it. Airport rules in Türkiye don't allow drivers to wait inside the terminal, so the meeting point is just outside the arrivals exit, where your driver takes your bags and walks you to the car.

The route runs south from the airport into the city, down to the Bosphorus at Beşiktaş and along Çırağan Caddesi to the palace. The hotel is on this main shore road, not on a side street, so the car can take you right to the entrance.

Vehicles, including VIP transfers

Choose a Mercedes Vito for up to six people, or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger groups and a lot of luggage. For a VIP transfer, the black VIP Vito and VIP Sprinter have custom-designed interiors. Child seats and booster seats are available; just ask for them when you book.

Taxi from Istanbul Airport to Çırağan Palace

Yellow taxis run on the meter: ₺71.94 to start and ₺47.92 per km, with no night rate. For the roughly 44 km to the hotel that comes to about ₺2,200, and up to ₺2,700 if the driver takes the longer northern motorway. Motorway tolls and time spent crawling in heavy traffic are added on top. Make sure the meter is running when you set off, and check that your luggage fits before you get in.

A new rule requires every taxi to have a card terminal linked to the meter, but the deadline has been extended to 16 November 2026, so until then carry some cash. Our Istanbul Airport taxi guide has the current tariff and tips.

Havaist and public transport to Çırağan Palace

There is no direct bus or metro to the hotel, but both of these work if you travel light:

  1. Havaist HVL-9: go down to floor -2 of the terminal and board HVL-9 to Taksim at platform 16 (₺470 with an Istanbulkart, the Havaist app or an online ticket; cash isn't accepted). Some departures stop at Beşiktaş Meydan, about 13 minutes' flat walk from the hotel along Çırağan Caddesi; on Beşiktaş home-match days none do. If yours goes straight to Taksim, take city bus DT1 or 40/40T from Taksim and get off at Yahya Efendi, about 100 m from the hotel.
  2. Metro, funicular and bus: take the M11 from under the terminal to Gayrettepe (about 30 minutes), change to the M2 for three stops to Taksim, ride the F1 funicular down to Kabataş, then city bus 22 or 22B four stops to Yahya Efendi. Allow about an hour and a half.

The M11 doesn't run through the night. HVL-9 does, with departures at 00:30, 01:15, 02:15 and 04:30, but at that hour you would still need a taxi from Taksim. See our Havaist guide and M11 metro guide for timetables.

Arriving at Çırağan Palace Kempinski

The hotel is at Çırağan Caddesi 32, on the three-lane road that follows the Bosphorus from Beşiktaş to Ortaköy. Cars turn off the road into the hotel grounds, so there's no need to stop in traffic or carry bags across the street. Beşiktaş and Ortaköy ferry piers are each about a 13-minute walk away, and the nearest bus stop, Yahya Efendi, is about 100 m from the gate.

The palace was built for Sultan Abdülaziz between 1863 and 1867 and gutted by fire in 1910, which left only its outer walls standing. After restoration, the modern hotel wing opened in 1990 and the palace building itself in 1992.

🔁 Going home: Çırağan Palace Kempinski back to Istanbul Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Çırağan Palace Kempinski the drive back takes about 45 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4½ hours before departure, and about 3–3½ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:30 and 14:00.

Traffic: Istanbul traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings (about 07:00–10:00) and evenings (about 17:00–20:00), and on the bridges between the Asian and European sides; leave earlier at those times.
