Golden City Hotel Istanbul stands on Tersane Caddesi in Azapkapı, at the Golden Horn end of Karaköy, about 42 km from Istanbul Airport (IST). With no traffic the drive takes around 45 minutes; at busier times allow 55 to 85. The road stays on the European side, so there is no Bosphorus bridge or tunnel to cross.

By metro: M11 and M2 to Haliç
This is the hotel's strongest point for budget travellers. The rail route has one change, no funicular and a flat walk at the end:
- Follow the Metro signs to the M11 station under the terminal and ride to Gayrettepe, about 30 minutes.
- At Gayrettepe, change to the M2 towards Yenikapı and stay on for five stops: Şişli-Mecidiyeköy, Osmanbey, Taksim, Şişhane and Haliç, about 10 minutes.
- Haliç is the station on the metro bridge over the Golden Horn. Leave by the Beyoğlu (Azapkapı) end and walk about 300 m on the level to Tersane Caddesi 111, four or five minutes.
With an Istanbulkart the two rides cost about ₺94 per person, and the whole trip takes 60 to 75 minutes. Plan to board the M11 by about 23:30 from Sunday to Thursday, because the last M2 from Gayrettepe towards Yenikapı leaves at 00:12; the M11 doesn't run overnight. Havaist coach and taxi
No Havaist coach passes the hotel. The practical one is HVL-9 to Taksim: go down to floor -2 of the terminal and board at platform 16. It costs ₺470 with an Istanbulkart, the Havaist app or an online ticket, or ₺590 with a contactless bank card; cash isn't accepted. The ride takes about 90 minutes. From the stop on the Gezi Park side of Taksim Square, walk across to the M2 and ride two stops, Şişhane and Haliç, then walk the same 300 m. Don't board HVL-11, which goes to Sabiha Gökçen. Yellow taxis run on the meter: ₺71.94 to start and ₺47.92 per km, with a ₺230 minimum and no night rate. To Golden City that comes to about ₺2,100, or nearer ₺2,400 if the driver takes the longer Northern Marmara Motorway, which is tolled. Tolls and time spent in slow traffic are added to the meter. The rule requiring a card terminal in every taxi has been extended to 16 November 2026, so carry cash until then.

The usual route follows the airport road and the O-2 motorway, comes down past Hasdal to Piyalepaşa and reaches Tersane Caddesi from Refik Saydam Caddesi. Tersane Caddesi is an ordinary one-way main road, not a pedestrian lane or a cobbled hill, so the car comes along the street to the hotel's front.
Vehicles for two to fifteen people

Where Golden City Hotel is
The hotel is at Tersane Caddesi 111 in Azapkapı, between Karaköy and the metro bridge across the Golden Horn. The hotel describes its location as the middle of Karaköy; on foot, the Karaköy ferry pier is about 460 m away, the lower Tünel funicular station about 420 m and the T1 Karaköy tram stop about 620 m, all on the flat. The nearest bus stop, Perşembe Pazarı, is about 80 m from the door.
