Where to Stay in Antalya: Areas Compared by Airport Distance
Short answer: for the old town on foot, stay in Kaleiçi. For beach hotels close to the airport, choose Lara and Kundu (15–25 minutes) or Konyaaltı (about 25–40 minutes). For golf and large all-inclusive resorts, Belek is 30–40 minutes from Antalya Airport (AYT). Side, Kemer and Alanya are one to two and a half hours away, and Kaş and Kalkan about three hours or more. A private transfer is from €35 per vehicle to Lara and €35 to Konyaaltı, from €40 to Belek, €45 to Side, €50 to Kemer, €80 to Alanya, €160 to Kaş and €55 to the centre and Kaleiçi.

The Turkish Riviera around Antalya is not one place. The airport sits in the city, and the resort areas run away from it in both directions along the coast, so the hotel you pick decides whether the ride is 15 minutes or three hours. This guide compares the areas visitors usually book by what matters on arrival day: drive time from the airport, whether a car reaches the door and what the transfer costs. We do not recommend hotels or quote room prices; the figures here are for getting there.
Antalya Areas at a Glance

| Kaleiçi and the city centre | Old town, sights on foot, tram links | 20–30 min | from €55 |
| Lara and Kundu | Beach resorts close to the airport | 15–25 min | from €35 |
| Konyaaltı | Long city beach, bus and Havaş links | about 25–40 min | from €35 |

Drive times are for normal traffic and run to the top of the range in the summer rush, when many charter flights land together. Transfer prices are starting prices per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers); the exact price depends on your date, pick-up time and hotel and is shown before you pay.
Kaleiçi and the City Centre: The Old Town on Foot
Kaleiçi is the old town, a maze of narrow lanes with Hadrian's Gate as the usual way in. It is the best choice for a first visit built around walking. The airport is only about 16 km away, and the AntRay tram reaches İsmetpaşa, the stop for the old town, in about 31 minutes. From there the gate is a walk of roughly 5–10 minutes. Trams run until just after midnight.
The catch is access. Cars cannot drive freely through Kaleiçi: the lanes are largely pedestrianised and the rules for hotel access can change, so a taxi or transfer normally stops at the closest point it can reach, often near Hadrian's Gate, and you walk the last stretch on cobbles. That suits a backpack better than several large suitcases. Ask your hotel for its exact drop-off point before you travel, and send it to your driver on WhatsApp after you land. Our full guide is Antalya Airport to the City Centre and Kaleiçi, and the price is on the city centre route page.
Lara and Kundu: Beach Resorts Close to the Airport
Lara and Kundu are the nearest beach-resort zone to the airport, 12–21 km away and 15–25 minutes by car. They are also the most confusing on a voucher. The public Lara beach is in Güzeloba, but many of the large resorts sold as "Lara" stand in Kemerağzı or at the east end of Kundu, in the separate Aksu district. The further east your hotel is, the longer the ride, so check the area on your booking.
There is no direct public transport to this stretch. The tram does not come this way, Havaş runs only to Konyaaltı, and the buses that work need a change, so a taxi or transfer is the practical choice. Lower Düden Waterfall is close by, and the Land of Legends theme park in Kadriye is about 18–21 minutes from Kundu. See Antalya Airport to Lara and Kundu, the Lara route page and Düden Waterfalls From Antalya Airport.
Konyaaltı: The Long Beach West of the Centre
Konyaaltı is the long beach on the far side of the city, about 25–40 minutes from the airport by car. It is the one beach area with direct public links: the Havaş coach goes there from the domestic terminal in about 45 minutes for ≈€4 (₺230) per person, and city bus 400 also runs to Konyaaltı, though only about every 90 minutes. The Antalya Aquarium is in Konyaaltı, on the opposite side of the city from the Lara strip. Our transfer starts from €35 per vehicle. Read Antalya Airport to Konyaaltı and the Konyaaltı route page.
Belek: Golf and Big All-Inclusive Resorts
Belek is the closest major resort area to the airport, 30–35 km to the east and 30–40 minutes by car. It is known for golf courses and large all-inclusive beach hotels spread along a long stretch of coast rather than around a town centre. Go Türkiye counts eleven golf clubs and seventeen 18-hole championship courses around Belek, so golfers often choose the hotel by the course. The strip has three zones: Kadriye in the west (nearest the airport and the Land of Legends), central Belek and Boğazkent at the east end, which is the longest ride and priced from €55.
No bus runs from the airport to the resorts. The public route is the tram to Meydan and then bus BA22, which takes about 1.5 hours or more and still leaves a walk or taxi, so almost everyone arrives by car. Mention golf bags when you book so the right vehicle is sent. See Antalya Airport to Belek, the Belek route page and Antalya Airport to the Land of Legends.
Side and Manavgat: Old Town and Long Beaches
Side is about 65–75 km east of the airport, and the drive takes 60–75 minutes on the coastal highway. Most visitors stay not in the old town itself but in the resort areas around it, such as Kumköy, Kızılot and Çolaklı, or in Manavgat, the town inland known for its river and waterfall. The ancient peninsula is largely pedestrianised, so a car stops at the edge and you walk to hotels inside. By public transport the trip means several changes and takes three hours or more. Read Antalya Airport to Side and Manavgat or see the Side route page.
Kemer and Tekirova: Mountains Beside the Sea
Kemer is one of the most popular resort areas on the Turkish Riviera, about 55–60 km south-west of the airport. The road first crosses the city and then follows the coast, with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. Allow 50–75 minutes to Kemer and more to Tekirova. Beldibi and Göynük are the first villages on the way and a little closer, Kemer town has the marina, shops and beaches with many hotels within walking distance of the centre, and Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova are further south with large resort hotels. The bus route goes via Antalya's bus station and takes 2–3 hours. See Antalya Airport to Kemer, and the route pages for Kemer, Beldibi and Tekirova.
Alanya: A Long Ride for a Long Stay
Alanya is the furthest of the big Riviera resorts, about 125 km east of the airport. Allow 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, depending on traffic and on whether your hotel is in central Alanya or in resorts such as Konaklı, Avsallar or Mahmutlar. Many holiday flights land late at night, which makes this the route where a driver who tracks your flight matters most. If your airline flies to Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP), it is much closer to Alanya, but it has far fewer flights. See Antalya Airport to Alanya and the Alanya route page.
Kaş, Kalkan and Olympos: The Lycian Coast
The coast south-west of Kemer is the wilder, quieter side of the Riviera, and the distances add up. Olympos, Çıralı and Adrasan lie in quiet valleys and bays about 90–110 km from the airport, 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes by car, with a transfer from €80. Kaş is a lively harbour town popular with divers and sailors, about 195 km away and about 3 to 3 hours 30 minutes by car; Kalkan is known for villas and rooftop restaurants on a steep hillside, and sits roughly 25 km further. Many villas there sit on narrow streets above the town.
For Kalkan and Fethiye in particular, it is worth comparing flights to Dalaman Airport, which is closer; see our Dalaman Airport guide. For Olympos, Çıralı and Adrasan, Antalya is clearly the closer airport. Details are in Antalya Airport to the Lycian Coast, with route pages for Kaş, Kalkan and Çıralı.
Taxi Meter or Private Transfer?
Taxis wait outside arrivals around the clock, and the meter runs at ≈€0.70 (₺40) to start plus ≈€0.90 (₺50) per km in the central zone, with no night rate. The figures below are meter estimates for the whole car (a taxi carries up to 4 passengers), not a published fare list. Our price is per vehicle, for up to 6 passengers, and shown before you pay.
| Area | Taxi meter (estimate) | Our transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Lara | ≈€13–14 (₺700–800) | from €35 |
| City centre and Kaleiçi | ≈€15–16 (₺850–900) | from €55 |
| Konyaaltı | ≈€20–22 (₺1,100–1,200) | from €35 |
| Belek | ≈€30–31 (₺1,650–1,750) | from €40 |
| Kemer | ≈€54–56 (₺3,000–3,100) | from €50 |
| Side | ≈€59–61 (₺3,300–3,400) | from €45 |
| Alanya | ≈€115 (₺6,300–6,400) | from €80 |
| Kaş | ≈€175–180 (₺9,850–10,050) | from €160 |
At the time of writing, a single traveller going to Lara, Konyaaltı or the centre often pays less on the meter. From Kemer onwards the meter is higher than our price, and a family of five or six needs two taxis. Taxi figures are estimates and change with the tariff, traffic and your exact address. Our Antalya Airport taxi prices guide explains the tariff and card payment.
Which Area for Which Trip?
- First visit, sights on foot: Kaleiçi or the city centre, with the tram as a cheap way in and out.
- Short flight-and-beach break: Lara, Kundu or Konyaaltı, where the ride is shortest.
- Golf or a big family resort: Belek, with golf bags and child seats arranged when you book.
- A week or more by the sea: Side, Kemer or Alanya, where the ride is long but a single car takes you to the door.
- Quiet coast, villas, boats: Çıralı, Kaş or Kalkan, if you accept a drive of two to three hours or more.
- Without a car in your stay: the city centre and Konyaaltı have the best public links. The resorts mostly need a taxi or a coach to reach the sights. See our Antalya Airport bus and tram guide.
Arriving Late and Where the Car Stops
Many holiday flights land in the evening or after midnight. The last tram leaves the airport at 00:05, and no bus runs along the Lara hotel road after about midnight, so late arrivals to the resorts usually take a taxi or a pre-booked transfer. Two places also limit where a car can go: the lanes of Kaleiçi and the old town of Side, where you are dropped at the edge and walk. Give your driver the exact hotel name and area as they appear on your voucher, because several resort areas have similar names. More in Arriving in Antalya at night and the Antalya Airport arrival guide.
How Our Transfer Fits In
Whichever area you choose, the booking works the same way. Your driver speaks English and waits just outside the arrivals exit. After you land, they send the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. You travel in a private Mercedes Vito (up to 6 passengers), a V-Class VIP or a Sprinter for larger groups, with child seats on request. The price is per vehicle and shown before you pay, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays. Compare all routes on our transfer prices page.

Frequently asked questions
Which area of Antalya is best for a first visit?
Kaleiçi or the city centre if you want to walk to the old town and use the tram. Lara, Kundu and Konyaaltı are the closest beach areas to the airport, and Belek suits golf and large all-inclusive resorts. The further you go along the coast, the longer the ride from the airport.
How far is each area from Antalya Airport?
By car in normal traffic: Lara and Kundu 15–25 minutes, the city centre and Kaleiçi 20–30 minutes, Konyaaltı about 25–40 minutes, Belek 30–40 minutes, Kemer 50–75 minutes, Side 60–75 minutes, Alanya 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, and Kaş about 3 to 3 hours 30 minutes. Allow more in the summer rush.
How much is a private transfer to each area?
Per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers): Lara from €35, Konyaaltı from €35, Belek from €40, Side from €45, Kemer from €50, Alanya from €80, Kaş from €160 and the centre and Kaleiçi from €55. The exact price is shown before you pay.
Can a car drive into Kaleiçi or Side old town?
Not freely. The lanes of Kaleiçi and the ancient peninsula of Side are largely pedestrianised, so a taxi or transfer stops at the closest point it can reach and you walk the last stretch. Ask your hotel for its drop-off point before you travel.
Is Lara the same as Kundu?
No. Lara (Güzeloba) is in the Muratpaşa district, while Kemerağzı and Kundu are in the Aksu district, further east along the same coast road. Many hotels sold as Lara stand in Kemerağzı or Kundu, so give your driver the hotel name and area.
Which areas have public transport from the airport?
The AntRay tram runs from the airport to the city centre and İsmetpaşa for Kaleiçi. The Havaş coach and city bus 400 go to Konyaaltı. The resorts, from Lara and Belek to Side, Kemer, Alanya and Kaş, have no direct line from the airport, so most visitors take a taxi or transfer.
Should I fly into Antalya or Dalaman for Kalkan?
Dalaman Airport is closer to Kalkan and Fethiye, so it is worth comparing flights. For Olympos, Çıralı, Adrasan and the rest of the Antalya coast, Antalya is the closer airport. Alanya also has the smaller Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP), with far fewer flights.
What if my flight lands late at night?
Taxis wait outside arrivals around the clock, and a pre-booked driver tracks your flight and waits just outside the arrivals exit, with no extra charge for flight delays. After you land, the driver sends the exact meeting point and a short video on WhatsApp. The last tram leaves the airport at 00:05, so resort arrivals after midnight need a taxi or transfer.
