Flying home from Ödemiş or Birgi means leaving the valley with the airport still ninety minutes ahead. Down the valley with time in hand
The road goes west on the D-310 and then north on the D-550 to Gaziemir. Without traffic the drive takes about an hour and a half, and the busiest stretch is the approach through Torbalı. For an international flight allow three hours at the airport on top of the drive, which puts the pickup about four and a half hours before departure; for a domestic flight, about an hour later.
Leaving from Birgi
Birgi's lanes are narrow, cobbled and in places closed to cars, so a van cannot reach every guesthouse door. When we agree your pickup, we will suggest a meeting point at the edge of the village, where the driver can stop. Send a pin, and have your bags ready. If you carry heavy cases, ask your host about help for the last stretch, since the stone paving is hard going.
From the town centre
Ödemiş itself has ordinary streets, so pickup from a hotel in the centre is simple. The driver contacts you on WhatsApp and speaks English, which helps if the hotel's reception is unsure of the address.
After a stay in the mountains
If you have been on the Bozdağ plateau, the road down to the valley can be affected by snow in winter and takes extra time. Tell us your hotel and the day, and we will plan the pickup with a margin. Is the train realistic?
Regional TCDD trains between Ödemiş and İzmir are listed as calling at the airport station, though there are only a few departures a day, so a missed one can cost hours. Check the current times at tcddtasimacilik.gov.tr. Buses to İzmir Otogar leave more often but you still need a connection to the airport. Valley mornings can be cool even in warm months, and the road alternates between fast stretches and villages. Keep your passports and boarding passes in a pocket rather than a suitcase, since the drive passes through Torbalı, the last big town before the airport. 🛫 Ödemiş to İzmir Airport: when to leave for your flight
