Leaving Çeşme for a flight from Adnan Menderes Airport means setting aside real time for the road. Your driver collects you from your hotel or villa at the hour you choose, handles the suitcases and takes the motorway back towards İzmir, dropping you at the departures entrance with a safe margin before check-in.

Working backwards from your flight

Start with the check-in time at ADB, then subtract the drive, which usually takes between an hour and ten minutes and an hour and a half. Add a cushion on top. On a summer Sunday afternoon, when many holidaymakers are heading back to İzmir at the same time, the O-32 can slow down a lot. We suggest a bigger margin whenever your flight falls on a Sunday evening, a public holiday or the last weekend of a school break.

For a morning flight, the motorway is usually clear and the main risk is simply starting too late. Fix the pickup time when you book, and the driver arrives accordingly.

Pickups around Çeşme, Ilıca and Alaçatı

Hotels cluster in Ilıca, in the town centre by the marina, and in beach areas like Dalyan, Boyalık and Çiftlikköy. Most can be reached by ordinary roads, so the driver pulls up at the entrance. The centre around the castle and the ferry port is compact, and its one-way streets are crowded in summer; if your guesthouse sits in a pedestrian lane, walk to the nearest street the driver names on WhatsApp.

If you are leaving from Alaçatı, say so when booking. It lies on the motorway route, so the trip is a little shorter than from the far end of Çeşme.

Checking out and last-minute swims

Long drives and long mornings do not mix well. If you plan a final swim, set the pickup for after it rather than hoping to squeeze it in, and keep your passports and boarding passes in hand luggage.

Havaş coach or private transfer back to the airport

Havaş lists a coach from Çeşme Otogar through Alaçatı and Urla to the airport, taking about 120 minutes, so it is a slower trip than the arrival direction suggests. It suits solo travellers on a budget with plenty of time. It begins at the bus station, so you first have to get to Çeşme Otogar with your bags. Check havas.net for current departures.

The private option collects you at the door and goes directly. It also lets the whole group travel together, however many bags you have.

Arriving at the right terminal

ADB has separate international and domestic terminal buildings. Confirm yours before the pickup, and the driver stops at its departures entrance. Our drivers speak English and can send a video message on WhatsApp if you need to explain where you are standing. You can read more about the options in our İzmir Airport to Çeşme and Kuşadası guide.

Villas and groups

Many holidaymakers around Çeşme stay in rented villas and holiday complexes with unmarked entrances. For these pickups, send a map pin or a host's number in the booking notes; the driver then calls on arrival and you meet at the gate. A party larger than a family of six can book a Sprinter for the same run, so everyone arrives at the terminal together.

🛫 Çeşme to İzmir Airport: when to leave for your flight

The drive takes about 65 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Çeşme plan a pickup about 4½–5 hours before an international flight and 3½–4 hours before a domestic flight. Always follow your own airline’s advice.

Example: for an international flight at 14:00, book your pickup for between about 09:00 and 09:30.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How early should I leave Çeşme for my flight?

Take your airline's check-in time, add roughly an hour and a half for the drive, and then add extra on Sundays, holidays and summer evenings. We can suggest a pickup time when you book.

Can the driver collect me from a hotel in Ilıca?

Yes. Ilıca hotels are on ordinary roads and the driver pulls up at the entrance. Give us the hotel name when you book.

How long does the Havaş coach take back to the airport?

Havaş lists about 120 minutes from Çeşme Otogar via Alaçatı and Urla. Check havas.net for the current timetable.

Which terminal will I be dropped at?

At the departures entrance of the building your flight uses. İzmir Airport has separate international and domestic terminals, so check your ticket.

What if traffic is heavy on the motorway?

There is no extra charge for traffic. Your driver adjusts the route if needed, and a generous pickup time removes most of the risk.

Can I cancel?

Yes, with no fee if you cancel up to a day before the pickup.
