Izmir Airport (ADB) Taxi Prices 2026: Fares, Tariff and Tips

Updated 18 October 2026

Short answer: taxis in Izmir run on the meter: ≈€0.70 (₺40) to start plus ≈€0.95 (₺54) per km, with a minimum fare of ≈€4 (₺210) and no night rate (tariff in force since 1 May 2026). Alsancak is about 19–20 km from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), so expect roughly €19–24 (₺1,050–1,350) on the meter in normal traffic, and about €17–22 (₺950–1,250) to Konak. For out-of-town destinations the airport taxi office also publishes list prices, for example ≈€97 (₺5,400) to Çeşme. A private transfer to Alsancak or Konak costs from €35 per vehicle for up to 6 passengers.

Taxis wait outside both arrivals exits at Izmir Airport around the clock, so a taxi is the simplest way into the city if you haven't booked anything. The catch is that the airport has no list price for city districts, only the meter, and the coast is a long way off. This guide gives the 2026 tariff, estimated meter fares to 15 destinations from Gaziemir to Çeşme, the airport's list prices, how to pay, and when the İZBAN train, a Havaş bus or a private transfer is the better choice.

Izmir taxi tariff (since 1 May 2026)

Charge2026 tariff
Start (opening fee)≈€0.70 (₺40)
Per kilometre≈€0.95 (₺54)
Waiting time, e.g. in slow traffic≈€0.05 (₺4) a minute
Minimum fare≈€4 (₺210)
Night rateNone
Airport pickupsSame meter tariff; out-of-town trips can also be paid at the airport list price (see below)

The tariff comes from a decision of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality council and took effect on 1 May 2026; the city's drivers' chamber announced it on 30 April, so some reports give that date. We found no further increase pending up to 18 October 2026. Waiting is charged by the hour, which works out at ≈€0.05 (₺4) a minute. Izmir's tariff has changed several times this year, so if you travel much later, check the figures against the current meter.

Where to find taxis at Izmir Airport

Izmir Airport has two separate buildings, the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. Taxis wait on the arrivals level at the exits of both, and the airport lists them as running around the clock. Follow the "Taksi" signs and take the car at the front of the queue. The rank is run by the Airport Taxi Drivers Association, which you can call on +90 232 274 20 75 if no car is waiting.

If you fly in from abroad with a connection in Istanbul or another Turkish airport, you land at the Domestic Terminal but are sent to International Arrivals for baggage and customs. The taxis at either exit will take you, but if you have arranged a driver, tell them which terminal your flight uses. The Havaş buses and the ESHOT night buses leave from the same exits; the İZBAN station is a short walk from both.

How the estimates are made: the ≈€0.70 (₺40) start fee plus ≈€0.95 (₺54) per km over the usual road, with a range that allows for detours and about 15 minutes of slow traffic. These are our own estimates, not official fares. Distances are rounded road distances without traffic. The Çeşme and Izmir–Aydın motorways are toll roads, and tolls are not in the meter estimates for Urla, Selçuk, Kuşadası, Alaçatı and Çeşme. Three more districts follow the same method: Narlıdere ≈€22–29 (₺1,250–1,600), Balçova ≈€18–23 (₺1,000–1,300) and Mavişehir ≈€31–37 (₺1,750–2,050). Transfer prices are per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers), not per person; the exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay.

Meter or airport list price?

The airport taxi office's price list (dated 1 May 2026) covers out-of-town destinations only; Alsancak, Konak, Karşıyaka, Bornova and Buca are not on it, so for the city the meter is all there is. The list itself says the meter must be switched on for every trip and that you may pay either the amount on the meter or the list price. That choice is yours, and it matters on the coast. To Kuşadası the list price is well below what the meter normally reaches. To Çeşme, Alaçatı and Selçuk the two are close. Ask the driver for the list price before you set off, and check the meter as well.

The list does not say whether motorway tolls are included, so ask before you leave the rank. Other list prices from the airport:

Paying for your taxi

Card: national rules require every taxi to use a payment device linked to the meter that takes bank cards, and the deadline for this was moved to 16 November 2026. Whether the taxis at the airport take cards today we could not confirm, so ask before you get in and carry enough Turkish lira for the fare, with a margin for traffic. Either way, pay the amount on the meter (or the list price you agreed) and ask for a receipt: it helps if you need to sort anything out later.

Taxi apps in Izmir

Uber works in Izmir as a way to call licensed yellow taxis, and its city page lists taxis in Izmir, Bornova, Bayraklı, Kemalpaşa and Menemen. It does not say whether a car can be called to the airport, so check in the app. Other taxi apps exist, but we could not confirm which ones cover Izmir at the moment, so we don't recommend one. App taxis come from the city, so at the airport the rank outside arrivals is usually quicker.

Tips for a smooth taxi ride

Luggage and groups: taxi or one Vito?

A standard taxi is a saloon car that takes up to 4 passengers and usually 2–3 suitcases, so luggage space often runs out before the seats do. A family of five or six with bags usually needs two taxis and pays two meter fares. One Mercedes Vito takes up to 6 passengers with luggage, from €35 per vehicle to Alsancak or Konak; the price is for the whole vehicle, not per person, and the exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay.

Taxi, train, bus or private transfer?

For one or two people with light luggage going to the city, a taxi from the rank needs no planning and, in normal traffic, usually costs less than a private transfer. In other cases it pays to compare:

You can see the prices for every district on our Izmir Airport Transfer page, and the full price list on transfer prices.

Going back to the airport by taxi

From a hotel, the easiest way is to ask reception to call a taxi. The meter works the same way in both directions, so expect fares close to those in the table. On a clear road the drive from Alsancak takes about 25–30 minutes, but rush hour can make it much longer, so leave a generous margin. Tell the driver whether you fly from the domestic or the international terminal. For check-in times and every other way to the airport, see Getting to Izmir Airport.

Rather book ahead? Our driver collects you from your hotel, home or office at the agreed time and takes you to departures; see, for example, Alsancak to Izmir Airport or Konak to Izmir Airport.
