What you are heading into: Buca

Buca is İzmir's most populous district, and it feels like a city of its own. It is mostly homes, schools and local shops rather than resorts, so very few visitors book a hotel here. Most guests are going to relatives, renting a flat, or visiting the Dokuz Eylül University campus at Tınaztepe, which has been built up from 1997 onward. İzmir Tınaztepe University is in the same area.

The old centre keeps a good number of restored nineteenth-century Levantine mansions, and the city's hippodrome is in the Şirinyer quarter. If you have a small guesthouse booked near the centre or Şirinyer, tell us the exact name and we will put it in your booking notes for the driver.

The road from ADB to Buca

The route leaves the airport on Akçay Caddesi and then reaches the district by Koşu Yolu or İsmail Sivri Bulvarı, depending on which is moving better. The İzmir Ring Road (O-30) runs along Buca's southern edge, so the driver can use it when the avenues clog up. Off-peak the trip takes about 25 minutes, and in the morning and evening rush it can stretch to 30–45 minutes. Delays on the road never cost you anything extra.

Late flights

Evening arrivals are the easiest: the avenues are quiet and the ride is often shorter than the figure above. If your flight is delayed, we track it, so the driver adjusts without you calling anyone.

The last few hundred metres in Buca

Central Buca and the Levantine quarter have narrow, hilly streets and a lot of parked cars. Hotels and apartment blocks can normally be reached by car, but a few lanes are one-car-wide and the driver may have to stop at the nearest corner. Drop a map pin or a phone number for your host in the booking notes and the driver will call before the final turn.

The Tınaztepe campus has gated entrances. If you are being dropped for a student dormitory or a university visit, check with the office which gate admits visitors, because the driver cannot decide that on the spot.

Train, bus or private transfer to Buca?

There is a public option, and it is honest to say it works for some travellers. İZBAN commuter trains call at Koşu and İnkılap stations, only a few stops from the airport station, and at Şirinyer, and ESHOT buses then run from those stations into central Buca. The Buca Metro line is still under construction, and no Havaş coach serves the district. The only ESHOT bus linking the airport with Şirinyer, line 206, runs at night only.

Our vehicles are private, never shared, so you leave the arrivals exit with your own driver and no stops for other passengers.

A note for families and returning residents

Many people landing for Buca are coming home or visiting family, often with gifts and bulging suitcases. Tell us the number of bags when you book. Up to six passengers with luggage fit one vehicle, and a Sprinter can carry a larger family group in a single trip.

🔁 Going home: Buca back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Buca the drive back takes about 25 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 3¾ hours before departure, and about 2¾ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 14:15 and 14:15.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the ride from İzmir Airport to Buca?

Around 25 minutes when the roads are clear and 30 to 45 minutes in the morning and evening rush. Your driver picks the best of the avenues and the ring road on the day.

Where does the driver meet me at Adnan Menderes Airport?

Just outside the arrivals exit of the terminal you land at. After you land, the driver writes to you on WhatsApp with the exact spot and a short video of the way.

Can the driver take me into the old streets of Buca?

Usually yes. A few lanes are too narrow, and then the driver stops at the nearest point and you walk the last stretch. Share your address or a map pin when booking.

Is there a cheaper way from the airport to Buca?

Yes: İZBAN trains to Koşu, İnkılap or Şirinyer, then an ESHOT bus into Buca. It saves money but needs a change and is awkward with heavy luggage.

Do I pay extra if my flight is late or traffic is heavy?

No. There is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays, because we track your flight and plan the pickup around it.

Is the fare per passenger or per car?

Per vehicle, not per person. The exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay.
