The İzmir Airport to Alaçatı transfer is about an hour on the Çeşme motorway. Your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit, messages you on WhatsApp after landing with the exact point and a short video, and takes you straight out to the peninsula.

Out along the O-32 to the peninsula

The car leaves Gaziemir by the İzmir Ring Road (O-30) and joins the O-32 İzmir–Çeşme Motorway, a toll road, which it leaves at the Alaçatı junction. In normal traffic the drive takes 60 to 80 minutes. On summer weekends and holiday peaks the motorway fills up, and the last kilometres into town can be slower than all the rest, so a flight landing on a Saturday in August should not count on the shortest time.

Reaching a stone-house hotel

Alaçatı is a protected urban area of two-storey stone houses and narrow streets, and Kemalpaşa Street is crowded with walkers on summer evenings. A car cannot always reach the front door, so the driver stops at the nearest accessible point and you walk the last stretch, often with a hotel porter. Port Alaçatı and the windsurf beach lie south of the town, with their own roads and easier access.

Please send the exact name of your hotel before you fly, not just the word Alaçatı, because the old town, the marina and the beach are different places.

Coach or private car to Alaçatı?

The Havaş coach from Adnan Menderes to Çeşme stops at Alaçatı Terminali, opposite the market place, with about 75 minutes of journey time and roughly ten departures a day listed on 18 and 19 October 2026. Timetables change by season, so check havas.net. The terminal is a walk or short taxi from most hotels.

A booked car skips that last step, waits for you if your plane is late, and carries as many bags as the vehicle allows. Families with strollers and groups sharing a villa usually find it easier.

Wind, windsurfers and festival weeks

The shallow bay south of the town is one of the main windsurf centres in the country and hosts international events, and the Alaçatı Herb Festival takes place every April. In those weeks hotels fill early, traffic into the old town thickens and the stopping point may sit further from your door. Mention windsurf or kite bags in the booking notes so the driver brings the right vehicle.

Off-season and late arrivals

Outside the summer months, when the motorway is empty, the drive can come close to the one-hour mark. Boutique hotels often have small reception teams, so if your flight lands late in the evening, tell the hotel your expected arrival time. Your driver tracks the flight and moves with it, which means you do not need to phone anyone from the baggage hall.

Groups sharing a villa should ask for a Mercedes Sprinter, and couples with two suitcases are comfortable in a Mercedes Vito.

Rainy winter days quieten the town further, and some restaurants close for the season, so check that your hotel serves dinner on the night you land. A quick message to the hotel about your arrival time is worth sending in any month.

🔁 Going home: Alaçatı back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Alaçatı the drive back takes about 60 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4¼–4¾ hours before departure, and about 3¼–3¾ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:15 and 13:45.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
