From ADB to the Urla junction

The car leaves the airport on Akçay Caddesi, picks up the İzmir ring road and then heads west on the Çeşme motorway, leaving it at the Urla junction. Expect about 40 to 55 minutes in normal conditions. On summer Friday evenings and at the start of holiday weekends, the motorway fills with people heading for Çeşme and Alaçatı, and the same ride can stretch noticeably.

Why people stop in Urla

Urla is about 35 km west of the centre of İzmir. It stands on the site of the ancient Ionian city of Klazomenai, where a 6th-century BC olive oil press is regarded as the oldest attested olive oil production facility. Olive groves cover much of the district, and the wineries along the Urla wine road belong to the İzmir Vineyard Route. At İskele, the town's harbour, you look across to Karantina Island, a former quarantine station established in 1865.

Finding the right gate on the wine road

Boutique hotels and guesthouses are found in the town centre, on the İskele waterfront and along the wine road, and several wineries rent rooms. Those estates are reached by narrow rural roads that appear unnamed on some maps, so give us the exact name of your winery or pension. İskele is busy with restaurant tables on summer evenings, and the driver may need to stop a short walk from your door.

Your driver after landing

The driver meets you just outside the arrivals exit of your terminal. A WhatsApp message arrives once you have landed, with the exact meeting point and a brief video, and the driver speaks English. If your plane is late, your flight tracking means the pickup moves with it, and there is no extra charge for the wait.

Havaş bus, taxi or private transfer to Urla

Public transport is better here than on many routes. The Havaş coach from the airport to Çeşme stops at Urla İlçe Terminali; Havaş lists about an hour for that leg, and around ten departures a day were listed for 18 and 19 October 2026. Timetables change with the season, so check havas.net. The coach drops you at the terminal in town, not at a winery or an İskele hotel, so you may still need a taxi for the last part. The slower alternative is İZBAN and the metro to Fahrettin Altay, then ESHOT line 984 to Urla or the express 684.

A private car skips all of that: it goes from the arrivals exit to your door, is priced per vehicle and shows the exact price for your date and pickup time before you pay. For a longer look at the options, see our guide to İzmir airport, the city, Çeşme and Kuşadası.

🔁 Going home: Urla back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Urla the drive back takes about 35 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4¼ hours before departure, and about 3–3¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:45 and 14:00.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
