Alsancak is where most visitors want to sleep in İzmir: the Kordon seafront, the café and bar streets and the old railway station are all within a short walk. The İzmir Airport to Alsancak transfer takes about half an hour. Your driver is just outside the arrivals exit, sends the exact point and a short video on WhatsApp after you land, and takes you to your hotel.
✅ What's Included
From Gaziemir up to the bay
The usual route heads north along Akçay Caddesi, Yeşillik Caddesi and Eşrefpaşa Caddesi, then switches to Şair Eşref or Cumhuriyet Bulvarı for the final approach. The toll-free İzmir Ring Road (O-30) is the alternative when the city streets are slow. Off-peak the run takes 25 to 35 minutes; on weekday rush hours it becomes 45 to 60, and it is longer again while the İzmir International Fair fills Kültürpark in early September.
Where the car actually stops in Alsancak
Kıbrıs Şehitleri Caddesi, the busy shopping and café street, is mostly pedestrian, so cars stop at the end of a side street or on Cumhuriyet Bulvarı rather than at your door. The streets inside are narrow and lined with parked cars, and the Kordon promenade itself is for walking; the driver uses the parallel road for a short, safe stop.
Most guests sleep in small hotels, apart-hotels and hostels in the grid between the Kordon and Kıbrıs Şehitleri, or in the larger hotels along Cumhuriyet and Gaziosmanpaşa boulevards. Send us the hotel name and street and keep the luggage light enough to roll for a minute or two.
İZBAN, Havaş or a car to Alsancak?
This is one of the few destinations where the train is genuinely good. İZBAN runs from Adnan Menderes Havalimanı station to Alsancak station without a change; the station building, finished in 1858, is described as the oldest in Turkey. Havaş also serves the area, with a stop called Alsancak Efes Oteli and about half an hour of journey time, but it listed only five departures a day, all between 01:30 and 11:30, when we checked in October 2026, so look at havas.net before relying on it. ESHOT 202 to Cumhuriyet Meydanı runs at night only.
A booked car makes sense if you have heavy bags, land in the evening, travel with children or simply do not want to walk from the station to a hotel in unfamiliar streets.
What Alsancak feels like on the first evening
Alsancak is the seafront nightlife and shopping quarter; if you want Konak Square, Kemeraltı bazaar and Basmane, look at the separate Konak transfer page. Restored low-rise buildings in the side streets are full of restaurants and bars, so expect noise at weekends and ask for a quieter room at the back when you book your hotel.
- Ferries to other parts of the bay leave from the Alsancak pier.
- Late-night arrivals are fine; the driver tracks your flight.
Planning your first hours in Alsancak
Check-in times at small hotels differ, so if your flight lands in the morning, ask whether your bag can be left with reception. The Kordon is the natural first walk, and Kıbrıs Şehitleri Caddesi is where you will find cafés and shops when you are hungry. Kültürpark, home of the International Fair, lies a short way inland, and the old railway station is worth a look because it dates from 1858.
Passengers who have just finished a cruise at Alsancak Port, or who board one there tomorrow, can use this page to plan the airport leg as well.
🔁 Going home: Alsancak back to İzmir Airport
You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
From Alsancak the drive back takes about 30 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 3¾–4 hours before departure, and about 2¾–3 hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 14:00 and 14:15.
Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the İzmir Airport to Alsancak transfer?
Roughly 25 to 35 minutes outside rush hour, 45 to 60 on weekday peaks, and longer during the September fair.
Can the car stop right in front of my Alsancak hotel?
Often it can, but Kıbrıs Şehitleri Caddesi is mostly pedestrian, so some hotels are reached from the end of the street. Give us the hotel name and the driver will tell you the exact stopping point on WhatsApp.
Is the İZBAN train to Alsancak a good alternative?
Yes, it runs direct from the airport station to Alsancak station and suits light luggage and daytime arrivals. Early trains start around 05:20 and the airport station sits in front of the domestic terminal.
Is ADB airport transfer cheaper by taxi or booked car for this route?
A taxi has a meter and the final amount depends on traffic. A booked car shows the price for your date and pickup time before you pay.
Where will I meet the driver?
Just outside the arrivals exit of your terminal. After landing you receive a WhatsApp message with the exact spot and a short video.
Can I cancel?
Yes, without charge until the day before your pickup time (24 hours ahead). Only the booking guarantee is paid online; you hand the rest to the driver in cash.
