Heading out of Buca for a flight from Adnan Menderes Airport? The district sits close to the airport, which makes the timing easy to plan. Your driver collects you at your door at the hour you pick, loads the bags and drives you to the departures entrance of the correct terminal, with time left for check-in.
✅ What's Included
Choosing your pickup time in Buca
Because Buca is one of the closest big districts to ADB, you do not need a huge buffer for the road itself; the real question is how crowded the avenues are when you set off. In the early afternoon the trip is a short drive of about 25 minutes. On weekday mornings and around the evening rush it can take 30 to 45 minutes, so for those hours we suggest leaving earlier than the clock first suggests.
For an international flight, plan to be at the airport comfortably ahead of check-in closing, and then add the drive on top. A pickup at the time you choose means you do not have to guess when a taxi will turn up on your street.
Getting out of the neighbourhood
Many pickups in Buca start in the old centre or the Levantine quarter, where the streets are narrow and climb in places. Cars park on both sides, so a van cannot always reach your door. If that is the case, the driver calls you and waits at the closest wide street; a short walk with your suitcase is all it takes. Tell us in the booking notes if anyone in your group needs the vehicle as close as possible.
Students leaving from the Tınaztepe campus should note the gated entrances. Choose a meeting point just outside the gate, or ask the security desk which entrance is open to visitors.
Which terminal at ADB?
The airport has separate international and domestic terminal buildings next to each other. Look at your ticket or airline app and tell the driver which one you need; if you are not sure, message us before the pickup. The driver drops you at the departures entrance of that building, and you walk straight into check-in.
Early flights and public transport
If your flight leaves at dawn, public transport is a poor match. The night-only ESHOT line 206 runs from the Şirinyer interchange to the airport with a few departures between half past midnight and half past four; check ESHOT before relying on it. İZBAN trains stop at Şirinyer, Koşu and İnkılap, but you still need a bus or taxi to reach those stations from many parts of Buca.
- Share the building number or landmark so the driver finds you at first attempt.
- Keep your passports and boarding passes in hand luggage, not in the boot.
- Mention child seats or extra bags when you book.
Our drivers speak English, and you can also ask for directions or timing by video message on WhatsApp.
Students, families and heavy bags
Buca has a large student population around the Dokuz Eylül campus, and the weeks when terms start and end bring a crowd of big cases. If you share a flat and fly together, one vehicle can take up to six passengers with luggage, which often costs less per head than separate taxis. For a larger group a Sprinter works. Put the heaviest case at the door first and let the driver load it.
🛫 Buca to İzmir Airport: when to leave for your flight
The drive takes about 25 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Buca plan a pickup about 3¾ hours before an international flight and 2¾ hours before a domestic flight. Always follow your own airline’s advice.
Example: for an international flight at 14:00, book your pickup for between about 10:15 and 10:15.
- Pickup: you choose the pickup time when you book; your driver waits at your hotel entrance or at your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
- Drop-off: the departures floor of the terminal your flight leaves from: İzmir Airport has two separate buildings side by side, the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal.
- Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
- At the airport: Check on your ticket or in your airline’s app which terminal your flight leaves from and tell your driver, so you are dropped at the right building.
