You leave the airport area and join the İzmir–Aydın Motorway southwards, leave it at the Belevi junction and finish on the D-550 into Selçuk. Allow roughly 50 to 65 minutes. The stretch near Ephesus slows down on days when cruise excursions arrive in numbers, and summer weekends are heavier than mid-week.
Many visitors link Selçuk to a wider Aegean trip, so decide early whether you want one base or two. What waits in Selçuk
Selçuk is a small, walkable town about 2 km from the ruins of Ephesus, which have held UNESCO World Heritage status since 2015. The Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre draw the crowds, while the remains of the Temple of Artemis, once counted among the Seven Wonders, lie close to town. In town itself you find Ayasuluk Hill with its castle, the Basilica of St John, the İsa Bey Mosque from 1375 and the Ephesus Archaeological Museum. The House of the Virgin Mary is a pilgrimage site some 7 km out.
Where to sleep and where the car stops
Small hotels and guesthouses cluster around Ayasuluk Hill and the railway station. Boutique stays are up in the hill village of Şirince, about 8 km away, whose centre is cobbled and mostly pedestrian, so the car stops at the edge of the village. Large beach hotels sit at Pamucak on the coast. If you are going straight to the ruins, say which entrance you want, because the Upper (Magnesia) Gate and the Lower Gate are about 2 km apart.
Meeting after you land at Adnan Menderes
The driver waits just outside the arrivals exit of your terminal. Once you are through passport control and baggage claim, a WhatsApp message gives the exact point together with a short video, so you can find the car at once. Late arrivals are common on the Ephesus run; because the flight is tracked, a delay costs you nothing extra.
Train, coach or private transfer to Selçuk
Public transport does reach Selçuk. The İZBAN network lists a Selçuk station on its southern branch, but which trains run through varies through the day, so check izban.com.tr. The Havaş coach to Kuşadası also stops in Selçuk, in front of the State Hospital, and regional trains are listed along the same corridor. With a hotel off the main road, a late landing or a family in tow, a private car saves the extra change and the walk from the stop.
