Çiğli lies at the opposite end of the city from Adnan Menderes Airport, so this ADB airport transfer crosses the whole urban area. Your driver stands just outside the arrivals exit, tracks your flight, and then picks the city streets or the ring road, whichever is moving better, to get you to the north-western edge of İzmir.

Who travels to Çiğli, and why
Çiğli covers the north-western part of the metropolitan area, around the mouth of the Gediz River. It is not a classic holiday district, and hotels are few: a handful of business hotels serve the İzmir Atatürk Organised Industrial Zone and the university area. Visitors usually come for work at a factory or supplier, for İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University, founded in 2010, or for the wetlands, where the İzmir Bird Paradise has recorded 205 bird species. The İzmir Wildlife Park at Sasalı opened in 2008.
Two ways across the city
This is one of the longer runs across the city, and the driver has a real choice to make. One option goes through the city via Akçay Caddesi, Yeşildere Caddesi, Altınyol and Anadolu Caddesi. The other is the toll-free İzmir Ring Road (O-30), passing the Bornova viaduct and the Bayraklı tunnels, which is longer in distance but often steadier. Off-peak, expect roughly 35 to 50 minutes. In the rush hours the trip can reach an hour and twenty minutes, particularly in the late afternoon when the ring road fills.
That is why we track your flight and keep the pickup flexible: a plane that lands at 17:30 meets very different traffic from one at 22:30.
If you are going to Sasalı or the delta
The Bird Paradise and the wildlife park are on rural roads at the edge of the Gediz delta, each with its own entrance and car park. Tell us which one you are visiting so the driver can head for the right gate. Check opening hours and parking rules with them before you travel.
At the industrial zone gates
The streets in the industrial zone are wide, but company gates can need security clearance. If you are visiting a firm, give us the company name and a contact number, and ask them to notify the gatehouse of your arrival. Without it, the driver may be asked to wait outside while your host arranges a pass.
İZBAN train or private transfer?
For once the train is a serious rival. İZBAN runs direct from Adnan Menderes Havalimanı station to Çiğli station, with stops at Ata Sanayi, Ulukent, Egekent and Egekent 2 on the way. At Çiğli you change to the T3 tram, which opened in January 2024, for the university and the industrial zone. The Havaş city line does not help, as it ends in neighbouring Mavişehir, and no direct bus goes to Sasalı or the Bird Paradise.
- Train and tram: good for one person with a rucksack and no schedule pressure.
- Private transfer: better with suitcases, samples or equipment, a small team, or any arrival after the trains thin out at night.

Arriving with a business purpose
Many people on this route arrive for meetings, so punctuality matters. Share your host's number in the booking notes, and the driver can update them on your progress by phone.
🔁 Going home: Çiğli back to İzmir Airport
You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
From Çiğli the drive back takes about 40 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4¼ hours before departure, and about 3–3¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:45 and 14:00.
Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
