Catching a flight from İzmir Adnan Menderes after your Bodrum holiday means a long road, so the start time matters more than the car. Your driver collects you from your hotel or villa at the hour agreed, stays on the road home for around three hours, and delivers you to the departures entrance of the right ADB terminal.
✅ What's Included
Setting the pickup time for a long drive
Bodrum to ADB is about three hours in normal conditions and longer in peak summer. Add the airline's check-in period, then a margin of at least an hour for the Milas–Bodrum road. For a 15:00 international flight, an 08:30 pickup is sensible. For an early-morning flight many guests leave the night before or set off in the small hours, and a driver who knows the route can make that part simple.
Collecting you around the peninsula
The Bodrum peninsula is a collection of towns and bays, not a single address. Pickup from boutique hotels near the harbour usually happens on the nearest road where a car can stop, since the lanes by the castle are narrow and partly pedestrianised. Resorts in Gümbet, Bitez or Torba normally have a driveway, which is easier with big suitcases. Give the hotel name and a map pin, and the driver will confirm the exact meeting spot on WhatsApp.
The night before you go
- Pack liquids and chargers in hand luggage, not in the boot.
- Check the ADB terminal on your ticket: international and domestic flights use separate buildings.
- Have a light breakfast before leaving; the planned stop is a short one.
The drive out: D-330, Milas and Lake Bafa
From Bodrum the car climbs over the D-330 to Milas, passes beside Lake Bafa, then runs through Söke to join the motorway towards İzmir. The slow part is usually the first hour, when holiday traffic crowds the Milas road in July and August, so do not count on the faster motorway minutes to rescue a late start.
Making the long ride comfortable
Three hours in a car can pass quickly with a few preparations. Charge phones before you leave, because long stretches of the route are quiet countryside. Children usually sleep through the middle section, and a stop at a roadside café around Söke lets everyone stretch. Tell the driver if anyone gets travel sick, so the pace through the bends of the D-330 can stay gentle.
The last stretch to check-in
The driver pulls up at the departures entrance of your terminal, with check-in desks just inside. International and domestic flights are handled in separate buildings, so a wrong guess costs time. Drivers speak English, and a short WhatsApp message to the office is enough if your airline moves your gate or terminal at the last minute.
Coach, taxi or transfer to go home?
Intercity coaches run from Bodrum to İzmir Otogar, but they end at the Otogar, not the airport, so you would still need a taxi or a city connection onward, and ESHOT's airport buses only run at night. For a dawn departure the realistic choices are a taxi or a transfer. A private booking gives you a pickup time agreed in advance, instead of one you have to negotiate at the kerb.
🛫 Bodrum to İzmir Airport: when to leave for your flight
The drive takes about 175 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Bodrum plan a pickup about 6¾–8¼ hours before an international flight and 5¾–7¼ hours before a domestic flight. Always follow your own airline’s advice.
Example: for an international flight at 14:00, book your pickup for between about 05:45 and 07:15.
- Pickup: you choose the pickup time when you book; your driver waits at your hotel entrance or at your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
- Drop-off: the departures floor of the terminal your flight leaves from: İzmir Airport has two separate buildings side by side, the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal.
- Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
- At the airport: Check on your ticket or in your airline’s app which terminal your flight leaves from and tell your driver, so you are dropped at the right building.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How long before my flight should the Bodrum pickup be?
Allow about three hours of driving, your airline's check-in period, and a margin of an hour or more in July and August. Tell us your flight time and we can suggest a pickup time.
Can the driver pick me up from a villa or a small hotel in the old town?
Yes. In narrow streets the car waits on the nearest road a vehicle can use, and the driver will send the exact spot on WhatsApp.
Is it possible to travel overnight for an early flight?
Yes, you can choose any pickup time, including the middle of the night. Just give the flight number and the pickup address.
Which terminal at İzmir Airport will you drop me at?
The one your flight departs from. Check your ticket, since international and domestic flights use different buildings.
