Akbük is a holiday-home resort on its own bay in Didim district, around two hours from İzmir Airport (ADB). That is a long ride after a flight, so a private transfer with the driver already tracking your landing makes sense. The driver waits just outside the arrivals exit and messages you on WhatsApp once you have landed.

A bay of its own

Akbük Bay is an arm of the Gulf of Mandalya, about 23 km east of Didim town, with a shoreline of some 11 km. Until 1991 the village belonged to Milas district in Muğla; it then became a separate municipality in Didim district until 2012, when it turned into a neighbourhood. About 7,600 people live there all year, rising to tens of thousands in summer, mostly Turkish holiday-home owners. If you are looking at Akbük in Muğla, that is a different place, so check your booking says Didim.

A long road, planned properly

The driver takes the İzmir–Aydın Motorway (O-31) to the Germencik junction, follows the D-525 past Söke towards Milas, and turns onto the local road to the bay. Allow roughly one hour fifty to two hours twenty, longer on summer weekends. Söke is a natural place for a comfort stop, and you only have to mention it on WhatsApp. If you travel with children, ask for a stop early rather than late.

Bodrum or İzmir?

Be aware that Milas–Bodrum Airport is a much shorter drive, about 60 km. İzmir often has more or cheaper international flights, which is why people accept the longer transfer. If your flight prices are close, compare the total time.

Reaching the estate

Many housing estates along the bay have gated entrances, so give the estate name. Hotels and holiday complexes are fewer, and the driver can pull up at their reception.

Public transport, honestly

No direct service links the airport and Akbük. You could take an intercity coach or a regional train towards Söke and then a local minibus, which is a lot of changes with luggage. The private transfer has one price per vehicle, shown before you pay, and removes the changes.

If you land late

A late-evening arrival followed by two hours in a car can mean reaching your estate after midnight. The International Terminal building has the TAV Airport Hotel with 81 rooms, which some travellers use to sleep first and travel in the morning; check availability with the hotel directly. If you go that way, tell us and we will look at moving the pickup. Either way, buy water and a snack at the airport before the long ride.

Estate details

Most of Akbük is estates and apartments strung along the bay, so put the estate name and block in the booking.

Akbük in two seasons

With a population that swings from about 7,600 residents to tens of thousands, the village feels very different in May and in August. Expect a quiet place outside the summer months, and a busier local road in peak season, when the transfer may take longer. Both are good reasons to confirm your arrival time with your host before you fly, and to send the estate name and block with your booking.

🔁 Going home: Akbük back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Akbük the drive back takes about 105 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 5¼–6¼ hours before departure, and about 4¼–5¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 11:45 and 12:45.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
