Landing at Adnan Menderes and heading for Altınkum, the marina or an apartment in Didim town? Your private car waits just outside the arrivals exit, and the driver tracks your flight and messages you on WhatsApp after landing with the exact meeting point. The road south takes roughly two hours, and the whole vehicle is yours, not a seat on a shared coach.
✅ What's Included
Why travellers fly into İzmir for Didim
Didim is a seaside district on the Aegean coast of Aydın province, best known for the Temple of Apollo at Didyma, once the seat of a famous oracle, and for the long sandy sweep of Altınkum beach. Until 1997 the town carried the name Yenihisar, and you will still see it on older maps and some hotel listings. Bodrum's airport at Milas is closer on paper, but İzmir often has more international flights to choose from, so many holidaymakers land at ADB and drive south.
The road from Adnan Menderes to Didim
Your driver heads south on the İzmir–Aydın motorway, leaves it at the Germencik junction and continues on the D-525 past Söke towards Milas, before turning off on the Didim road. Expect somewhere between just under two hours and about two hours twenty minutes. The extra time usually appears on summer weekends and holiday changeovers, when the coast road fills up, and it carries no extra charge on your side.
Worth knowing before you set off
- Break the journey with a short comfort stop near Söke if you are travelling with children or after a long flight; just ask the driver.
- Day trips to Miletus, Priene and Lake Bafa all lie close to Didim, so keep a little space in the car for souvenirs.
- If your flight lands late, the driver still waits; delays are tracked and cost nothing extra.
Families, groups and luggage
A standard Mercedes Vito takes up to six passengers with seven bags, which suits most families coming for a beach week. Larger parties can ask about a Sprinter, and anyone wanting more comfort on the two-hour leg can choose a VIP Mercedes V-Class. Tell us about pushchairs or sports bags in advance and we will pick the right vehicle.
Finding your driver at the ADB arrivals exit
İzmir's airport has two separate buildings, one for international and one for domestic flights, each with its own arrivals exit. Walk out of the exit of the terminal you landed at and wait just outside. Once you have landed, the driver sends a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video of the way, and the drivers speak English if you need to call.
Arriving at your door in Didim
Altınkum's beachfront streets get busy and are partly one-way in summer, so the final few hundred metres can be slower than the motorway. The marina has its own entrance and car park, and hotels or apartment blocks set back from the sea are easier. Send the accommodation name and a map pin when you book and the driver will plan the last stretch in advance.
Taxi or transfer, and the public-transport route
There is no direct airport bus to Didim. The cheaper-looking route is a regional train to Söke or a coach from İzmir Otogar, followed by a local minibus, which means two or three changes with suitcases. A taxi from the rank works if you are happy to agree a price for a two-hour ride on the spot. A private transfer from İzmir Airport to Didim gives you one vehicle, a price you see before paying, and no waiting around for connections.
🔁 Going home: Didim back to İzmir Airport
You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
From Didim the drive back takes about 105 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 5¼–6¼ hours before departure, and about 4¼–5¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 11:45 and 12:45.
Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from İzmir Airport to Didim?
Plan on about two hours, and allow up to two hours twenty minutes on busy summer weekends. A comfort stop adds a few minutes.
Is there a direct bus from İzmir Airport to Didim?
No. Public transport means a regional train or coach to Söke or İzmir Otogar and then a local minibus, so a private transfer is much simpler with luggage.
Would Bodrum's airport be closer to Didim?
Milas–Bodrum Airport can be closer on the map, but the choice of flights and fares often favours İzmir. Compare both before you book your flights.
Where do I meet the driver at Adnan Menderes Airport?
Walk out of the arrivals exit of whichever terminal you used and the driver will be standing just outside. A WhatsApp message with the precise spot and a short video reaches you once you have landed.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
The driver tracks your flight and adjusts the pickup. There is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays.
Can I be dropped at Altınkum beach or the marina?
Yes. Tell us the exact hotel, apartment or marina when you book and the driver will take you to the nearest point a car can reach.
