Kemalpaşa is not on any tourist circuit, and there is no rail link, so a private car from Adnan Menderes airport is the simple way in. Your driver follows your flight, waits outside the arrivals exit and drives east on the motorway to the town centre or a factory gate. When you land, WhatsApp brings the exact meeting point and a short video.

East out of Gaziemir on the O-5

From ADB the car heads north through Gaziemir, joins the İzmir Ring Road (O-30) and then turns east onto the İstanbul–İzmir Motorway (O-5), a toll road. It passes the Belkahve Tunnel and leaves at the Kemalpaşa connector. A non-motorway alternative via Bornova and Belkahve exists but is slower. Expect between 40 and 60 minutes, which suits a district that is about 29 km from Konak but a fair distance from the airport. Traffic on the ring road and on the industrial-zone roads builds at shift changes, and your driver watches for that.

What Kemalpaşa is known for

This is a working district. Industry drives the economy, centred on the large KOSBİ organised industrial zone opened in 1990, and across Turkey the name is tied to cherries: the phrase Kemalpaşa kirazı is a well-known label. History is here too. As Nymphaion, the area was a favoured winter residence of the 13th-century Nicaean emperors, and John III Vatatzes built a palace here. The late Hittite–Luwian Karabel relief lies about 6 km from the town. Until the early Republic, the town was known as Nif.

Business travellers and factory visits

Many people who fly into İzmir for Kemalpaşa are going to a plant, a supplier or a trade meeting rather than a holiday. Factories in KOSBİ and the other industrial zones have security gates, so passengers are dropped at reception, not at the production hall. Send us the company name, the gate or reception if you know it, and a contact number for the host. If a visitor list has to be filled in at the gate, the driver waits while you check in.

Staying in the town

Hotels are few. Business visitors often sleep in Bornova or central İzmir, then drive out in the morning, and that is also a sensible choice if you want restaurants and evening life. The town centre itself has ordinary streets, so a drop-off at an apartment or small hotel is straightforward. If you do stay in Kemalpaşa, mention the name of the building when you book.

Why not use public transport?

There is no direct option from the airport. Buses and minibuses connect Kemalpaşa with Bornova and the Pınarbaşı and Otogar area, but the line numbers should be checked locally. A Kemalpaşa metro line exists only as a plan. To reach those buses you first have to travel from the airport to Bornova or the bus station, so with luggage the effort is high.

Cherries, ruins and a day out

If your visit allows some free time, the Karabel relief is the main reminder of the district's long history, and the cherries give it a local identity across Turkey. We can also arrange the return to the airport from Kemalpaşa when your plans are fixed, so you do not need to think about it on the day.

🔁 Going home: Kemalpaşa back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Kemalpaşa the drive back takes about 45 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 4–4½ hours before departure, and about 3–3½ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 13:30 and 14:00.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take from İzmir Airport to Kemalpaşa?

Typically 40 to 60 minutes by motorway. The ring road and the industrial-zone roads are busiest at shift changes.

Is there a train or metro to Kemalpaşa?

No. There is no rail link, and a Kemalpaşa metro line is only at the planning stage.

Can you take me to a factory in the organised industrial zone?

Yes. Give us the company name and the gate or reception, because security gates mean passengers are dropped at reception.

Are there hotels in Kemalpaşa?

Only a few. Many business visitors choose Bornova or central İzmir and travel out.

Which toll road does the transfer use?

The route normally follows the O-5 motorway, a toll road, after the ring road. The driver handles it.
