The ride goes the opposite way to a typical arrival: from the Gediz plain down the Çanakkale road, through the northern suburbs and along the ring road to Gaziemir. A trip that takes 45 minutes on a quiet morning becomes a good deal longer when Karşıyaka and Bayraklı fill up on weekdays, so treat an hour as the normal case and an hour and a half as the safe one.
Setting the pickup time
For an international flight, add about three hours at the airport to the drive, then a margin you would be glad of if a lorry breaks down on the ring road. For a domestic flight, two hours is the usual cushion. Because the drive passes through İzmir anyway, some guests ask to collect a colleague in Karşıyaka or to stop for paperwork on the way. That is possible if arranged in advance, because the driver then plans the order and the timing.
