From Bornova the airport lies across the city, and the way there depends on the hour you set off. Your driver collects you at the dormitory, hotel or hospital gate you name, at the time you choose, and leaves you at the departures entrance of the right Adnan Menderes terminal.

Picking a pickup time in Bornova
The trip takes 25 to 40 minutes off-peak and 50 to 65 minutes at weekday rush hours, whether by the city route through Altınyol and Yeşildere Caddesi or by the toll-free İzmir Ring Road (O-30). The airport has an International Terminal and a Domestic Terminal in separate buildings. Check your ticket and tell us which applies; the driver then uses the matching departures entrance.
Metro, night bus or car?
The public route runs the other way round: İzmir Metro M1 from Bornova, Ege Üniversitesi or Evka 3 to Halkapınar or Hilal, then İZBAN to Adnan Menderes Havalimanı station. It is cheap, but you change trains with your luggage. ESHOT line 204 runs from Bornova Metro to the airport, via the Otogar, only at night, with a few departures between about 01:00 and 06:00, which suits a very early flight but nothing else. There is no daytime Havaş coach from Bornova.
One last look at the old core
In the nineteenth century European and Levantine families built summer houses in Bornova, and several of the mansions still carry their former owners' names. If your flight is in the afternoon, a morning walk through the old core is possible before the car arrives, provided you keep to the plan: the narrow lanes are slow for a vehicle, so the driver will wait on a wider street nearby. Coming from hospital or campus instead? Say so in the booking, because the pickup entrance matters more than the neighbourhood.

The drive takes about 30 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Bornova plan a pickup about 3¾–4 hours before an international flight and 2¾–3 hours before a domestic flight.
