The way home from Kuşadası starts by heading inland: over the hills to Selçuk, and only then north on the motorway to Izmir. That first stretch is the road the excursion coaches take to Ephesus, so on a cruise day the slowest part of the trip is the first twenty minutes, not the last. Setting the Pickup: Flight Time Minus 4½–5¼ Hours
Most airlines want you at the airport 3 hours before an international flight and 2 before a domestic one. Add the drive and a margin: a pickup 4½–5¼ hours before an international departure and 3½–4¼ hours before a domestic one. Take the earlier end on cruise days, summer weekends and public holidays, when the Selçuk road is slow.

Before the First Coach
Havaş leaves Kuşadası bus terminal at 03:00 and 07:00, then every two hours from 09:00 to 23:00, calling at Selçuk on the way. On the listed 90 minutes, the 03:00 reaches the airport at about 04:30 and the 07:00 at about 08:30, in time for an international flight from about 11:30. There is no train from Kuşadası. For an earlier flight, it is the 03:00 coach and a long wait, a taxi that reception books the evening before, or our car at the time you choose.

From €70 for the whole Mercedes Vito (6 passengers, 7 suitcases), one way. The VIP Vito (a Mercedes V-Class) takes 4 and 5; a Sprinter 15 and 20. Taxi
Our taxi guide estimates the meter at ≈€82–92 (₺4,550–5,100) for the car, using Izmir's tariff of ≈€0.70 (₺40) to start and ≈€0.95 (₺54) per km, with no night rate, plus the ≈€0.95 (₺53) car toll on the İzmir–Aydın motorway. The airport's own list price, ≈€68 (₺3,800), applies to rides from the airport rank; we know of no list for the way back. Agree the fare and the toll first, and carry lira: card payment in taxis becomes mandatory only from 16 November 2026.
Havaş Coach
≈€11 (₺600) per person from Kuşadası bus terminal, about 90 minutes. The terminal may be a taxi ride from your hotel. Buy online at havas.net and keep your passport handy, as ID details are recorded; the allowance is 30 kg.
Which One Fits You
- The coach is enough for one traveller or a couple with light bags, staying near the bus terminal, on a daytime flight that matches a departure.
- A taxi works if reception orders one, though from Kuşadası the meter usually reads above our Vito price.
- The car wins for families, an early flight, a cruise-day departure, extra bags from the bazaar, or friends leaving the same ship together in one Sprinter.
Harbour, Ladies Beach or the Southern Resorts: Your Pickup
Be in the lobby a few minutes early with your luggage; the driver comes to the hotel entrance at the booked time and contacts you on WhatsApp on arrival. Kuşadası has a few awkward corners:
- Around the port and Kaleiçi: narrow, busy streets, and some old-town lanes are pedestrian. The car waits round the corner, and the driver sends the spot on WhatsApp.
- Above Ladies Beach: a dense resort strip with steep access roads, which our vehicles manage without trouble. The exact hotel name matters here.
- South towards Yavansu and Long Beach, and along the northern coast: resort hotels are spread out, so the full name saves time on the day. Davutlar has its own route page.

The bazaar near the Caravanserai often adds a bag: count your cases the evening before and tell us on WhatsApp if the number has grown. Child seats cost five euros per seat: a child safety seat up to 3 years old, a booster seat above.
Straight From the Ship at Ege Port
If your cruise ends in Kuşadası and you fly the same day, the ship sets the timing. Check the latest disembarkation time in your cruise documents and work forwards: leaving the ship, a drive of about 75 minutes, and about 3 hours at the airport before an international flight. Put the disembarkation time, the ship's name and the pier or area where you will stand in the booking notes.
Over the Hills to Selçuk, Then North to Izmir
The car takes the D-515 inland to Selçuk, about 20 km and 20 minutes, then the D-550 to the Belevi junction and the İzmir–Aydın motorway north to the airport in Gaziemir. Ege Port was Türkiye's busiest cruise port in 2025, and on busy days the Ephesus road fills with coaches, so the section you leave on is the one to pad. At the Izmir end, the ring road and the roads into the airport are heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings.
Izmir Airport has two separate buildings: flights abroad leave from International, flights within Turkey from Domestic, whatever the airline. Tell the driver which one.
