Çeşme sits at the far tip of its peninsula, and every hotel on it shares one road back to Izmir. On a summer Sunday half the coast seems to leave at once, so the airport that felt close on arrival day can feel a long way off on the way home. Below: your pickup time, what each option costs, and where the car stops.
Your Pickup Time, Counted Back From the Flight
TAV, the airport operator, asks for at least 3 hours before an international flight and 2 before a domestic one. Add the drive and a margin for the motorway: from Çeşme or Alaçatı, a pickup 4½–5 hours before an international departure and 3½–4 hours before a domestic one. On summer Sundays, around public holidays and on the last weekend of a school break, take the earlier end.

Night and Dawn Departures
No coach leaves the peninsula for the airport between the 22:00 Havaş and the 03:00 one from Çeşme bus station (03:20 from Alaçatı). The 06:00 arrives at about 08:00, which suits a domestic flight from about 10:00 or an international one from about 11:00. Çeşme Seyahat's coaches go to the Otogar, not the airport. Earlier than that, it is a taxi that reception orders the evening before, or our car at the exact time you book.

Taxi figures are our estimates from Izmir's tariff (≈€0.70 / ₺40 to start, ≈€0.95 / ₺54 per km, no night rate). The airport taxi list (≈€97 / ₺5,400 to Çeşme) covers rides from the airport only. The car toll on the motorway is ≈€0.95 (₺53).
- The coach is enough for one or two people with light bags, a hotel near Çeşme bus station or the Alaçatı stop opposite the market place, and a daytime flight. It skips Ilıca, Dalyan, Çiftlikköy and Boyalık. Buy ahead on havas.net and keep your passport handy, as ID details are recorded.
- A taxi works for up to four people with ordinary luggage; from Çeşme the meter comes out about level with our Vito. Agree the fare and the toll before you set off, and carry lira: card payment in taxis becomes mandatory only from 16 November 2026.
- The car wins for five or six people with suitcases, windsurf or kite bags, a villa with an unmarked gate, a flight before about 10:00, or a summer Sunday when you want the price settled before the queue. A villa party of up to 15 with 20 suitcases fits one Sprinter.
Alaçatı Lanes, Ilıca Hotels and Villa Gates: Where the Car Stops
Be in the lobby a few minutes early with your luggage. The driver comes to the hotel entrance at the booked time and contacts you on WhatsApp on arrival. On the peninsula the details depend on where you slept:
- Alaçatı old town: Kemalpaşa Caddesi and the stone-house lanes are narrow and crowded on summer evenings, so the car stops at the nearest practical point and you walk the last part.
- Çeşme centre (castle, marina, ferry port): compact, with one-way streets that fill in summer. On a pedestrian lane, the driver names the nearest street on WhatsApp.
- Ilıca and Port Alaçatı: larger hotels on ordinary or their own roads, so the car usually reaches the entrance.
- Dalyan, Boyalık and Çiftlikköy: quieter coast with many villas behind unmarked entrances. Put a map pin or the host's number in the booking notes.
Give the hotel or villa name, not just "Çeşme". Child seats cost five euros per seat (a child safety seat up to 3 years old, a booster seat above). Planning a last swim? Set the pickup after it, and keep passports in your hand luggage.
The O-32 Back to Izmir and Its Busy Days
The car takes the O-32 İzmir–Çeşme motorway past Urla, then the ring road and Akçay Caddesi to the airport in Gaziemir. The toll stations take electronic HGS only; on our transfer the price covers it, so there is nothing to settle with the driver.
With no official delay figures, this is our own advice: the road towards Izmir is slowest on summer Sunday evenings, at the start and end of the Ramazan and Kurban holidays and on the last weekend of a school break, and news reports have named the Narlıdere–Balçova junction area and Üçkuyular near the Izmir end. Allow an extra 30 to 90 minutes then. On weekdays the ring road is busiest in the morning and evening.
Izmir Airport has two buildings side by side: flights abroad leave from International, flights within Turkey from Domestic, whatever the airline, and a flight to Istanbul to connect abroad is domestic. Tell the driver which one.
Booking and Paying for the Ride Back

The price is for the whole vehicle, with no extra charge for traffic or flight delays; if your hand luggage is too much for the vehicle you chose, the booking switches you to one that fits and shows the new price before you confirm. Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before pickup; from 6 to 24 hours, a fee of up to 50% of the one-way price applies; under 6 hours, the full price may be charged. Date and time changes are possible until 24 hours before (cancel or change). Book arrival and departure together and the return part gets a discount (return transfers); the ride to the airport costs the same as the ride from it.
