Timing your pickup in Aliağa
The drive from Aliağa to the airport takes about 70 minutes in free-flowing traffic and 85 minutes or more when the İzmir Ring Road is slow. Add the time you want at the airport and the sum gets large quickly. For an international departure, most guests ask for a pickup around four and a half to five hours before take-off; for a domestic flight, an hour less is usually enough. If your plane leaves in the early morning, remember that plant shift changes around dawn put extra cars on the motorway.
Two terminals, one flight: which is yours?
Adnan Menderes has two separate buildings, an International Terminal and a Domestic Terminal, standing next to each other. Look at your booking and tell the driver which one your flight uses; if you are unsure, message us before the day and we will confirm. If you do end up at the wrong one, the two are linked, and signs lead from one to the other, but with a long drive behind you it is better to arrive in the right place first.
Where the driver collects you in Aliağa
Aliağa serves both the town and a large industrial coast. In the centre and along the seafront the streets are ordinary, so the car can wait at the hotel door. For refinery, port or ship-recycling sites, guests usually have to come out to the gate or reception, because security does not let outside vehicles in. Say so when you book and give us a gate name and a contact number; the driver will wait at the agreed spot and you can stay in touch on WhatsApp.
Train or private transfer back to ADB?
İZBAN runs from Aliağa, its northern terminus, and calls at the Adnan Menderes Havalimanı station without a change. That works for a light bag and a mid-day flight, but the many stops make it a long ride, and the early-morning and late-night patterns differ, so check izban.com.tr first. The station stands in front of the Domestic Terminal, and signed Metro–İZBAN routes with a moving walkway link it to the International Terminal. Havaş does not run from Aliağa to the airport.
A private transfer removes the timetable risk. The driver loads everything, including bulky work cases, and keeps going when the ring road is busy.
A little history on the way out
Aliağa lies in ancient Aeolis, and the district includes the sites of Kyme, Myrina and Gryneion. The ruins of Kyme sit on the coast north of the town, in the opposite direction to the airport, so they only fit into a trip that starts a day early. Most business travellers never see them. If you have a free morning before your flight, ask your host rather than the driver, and check whether the excavation area is open to the public, because we could not confirm that.

🛫 Aliağa to İzmir Airport: when to leave for your flight
The drive takes about 70 minutes without traffic. Most airlines ask you to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, so from Aliağa plan a pickup about 4½–5¼ hours before an international flight and 3½–4¼ hours before a domestic flight. Always follow your own airline’s advice.
