Kiraz lies at the far eastern edge of İzmir province, a long way inland from the airport. One private driver covers the whole way: flight tracking, a meeting just outside the arrivals exit, then a single comfortable drive with a stop if you wish. A WhatsApp message and short video after landing show you the spot. Plan for around two hours on the road.

Inland via Torbalı, Tire and Ödemiş

From Adnan Menderes airport the car heads south on the D-550 to Torbalı, then east on the D-310 past Tire, using the bypass, and on through the Ödemiş ring road to Kiraz. Drive times come out at around 100 to 125 minutes, and this is among the longer rides we offer inside İzmir province. It is a rural trip in the true sense: wide valleys first, then hills as you approach the end.

What Kiraz is like

Kiraz is a rural district at the far eastern end of the province, east of Ödemiş and bordering the Manisa districts of Alaşehir and Salihli. It became a separate district from Ödemiş in 1948. Agriculture and small livestock drive the economy, with potatoes, tobacco, cotton, olives, chestnuts, walnuts, figs and grapes. Hill villages such as Umurlu and Karabolu are known for their chestnuts and cherries. Expect a farming town, not a resort.

Where visitors stay

There are very few hotels. People travelling to Kiraz are usually visiting relatives, going to a village house, or staying in the larger town of Ödemiş or in Birgi and driving out. Tell us which it is, because the end of the journey changes. In the small-town centre streets are ordinary; in the mountain villages the roads are narrow and winding, and the driver may stop at the nearest point a car can reach.

Long drive, sensible planning

Public transport, and why most people skip it

No bus or train runs straight to Kiraz. A regional TCDD train is listed from the airport station towards Ödemiş, and buses also run there, but from Ödemiş you would still need a local bus or minibus to Kiraz, and the details of those services have not been confirmed. Check times before you rely on them. Taxi or transfer? Over a distance of this size, a private transfer can be arranged before you fly, with a driver who knows the route and who speaks English.

Because the trip is long, consider whether you could stay one night near the airport first. Many guests choose to continue immediately, though, and that works well when the driver is waiting right outside the arrivals exit.

Before you fly

Send us your flight number, the name of the village or street in Kiraz and the phone number of whoever is expecting you. A call from the driver to your host an hour before arrival often saves minutes at the end of the journey. If you are arriving for a family occasion with several relatives, a Sprinter can bring the whole group together in one vehicle.

🔁 Going home: Kiraz back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Kiraz the drive back takes about 105 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 5¼–6¼ hours before departure, and about 4¼–5¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 11:45 and 12:45.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
