Turgutreis sits at the western tip of the Bodrum peninsula, a long way south of İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport. A private transfer turns that distance into one uninterrupted ride: your driver tracks your flight, waits just outside the arrivals exit and takes you straight to your hotel, apartment or villa, whatever time you land.
✅ What's Included
Is İzmir the right airport for Turgutreis?
Honestly, often it is not: Bodrum-Milas airport is far closer to Turgutreis, and many guests simply fly there. İzmir becomes the sensible choice when the ADB flight is cheaper or has better timings, when you are combining the coast with a few days around İzmir, or when you are travelling on from Greece or elsewhere in the Aegean and ADB is simply where your ticket lands. If that is you, the rest of this page explains what to expect.
The long road south to the peninsula
The route leaves the airport area and joins the İzmir–Aydın toll motorway (O-31) as far as Germencik. From there the D-525 runs through Söke and past Lake Bafa to Milas, and the D-330 carries on towards Bodrum before you turn west across the peninsula. Plan on roughly three to three and three-quarter hours; July and August weekends are the slow ones, and there is no extra charge for traffic or flight delays.
- Ask your driver for a short stop around Söke or Milas; the road has plenty of petrol stations with cafés.
- Children and anyone prone to car sickness do better with a seat near a window and a snack before the Milas–Bodrum stretch.
- Landing after dark is fine: the driver is waiting regardless, and the last hour is the quietest part of the drive.
Meeting your driver after landing
İzmir has separate international and domestic buildings, so go to the arrivals exit of the terminal you land at. Once your plane is on the ground, your driver writes to you on WhatsApp with the exact spot and a short video of the way, then waits just outside the exit. Our drivers speak English, which helps when you need to explain a villa that is hard to find.
Turgutreis when you arrive
Turgutreis was called Karatoprak until 1972, when it took the name of the Ottoman admiral Turgut Reis, who was born here in 1485. Today it is a seaside town with around five kilometres of sandy beaches and a marina that has boat links to the Greek island of Kos. Hotels and apartments spread along the beaches on either side of the centre and into the nearby bays.
The marina and seafront promenade have little stopping space in summer, so we drive to your accommodation door rather than to the harbour. Send the hotel name or a map pin when you book.
Coach or private car?
There is no Havaş coach or train from the airport to Bodrum. The public route is an intercity coach from İzmir Otogar to Bodrum, plus a local minibus out to Turgutreis, and you first have to reach the Otogar from the airport. After a flight, with luggage, a private vehicle that drops you at the door is the easier answer.
🔁 Going home: Turgutreis back to İzmir Airport
You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.
From Turgutreis the drive back takes about 200 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 7¼–9 hours before departure, and about 6¼–8 hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 09:00 and 10:45.
Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
