Altınoluk is the Gulf of Edremit resort beneath Kaz Dağı, reached from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport by a long run up the north Aegean coast. Your driver meets you just outside arrivals, tracks the flight and drives you to the seafront or hillside address, so you start your holiday from the car seat rather than a chain of buses.

The Gulf of Edremit by road

Altınoluk is a long drive from Gaziemir, so be realistic: it takes roughly two hours fifty to three and a half hours. The route uses the ring road (O-30), then the O-33 North Aegean toll motorway to its end near Çandarlı, and finally the D-550 via Ayvalık, Burhaniye and Edremit before turning west along the gulf. July and August weekends, particularly through Edremit and the gulf resorts, slow it down, and delays are free of any extra charge.

A resort on the lower slopes of Mount Ida

Altınoluk was known as Papazlık and, until the 2013 reorganisation, was a separate town. It is now a seaside neighbourhood of Edremit, about 25 km west of the main town, on the northern shore of the gulf. Small hotels and pensions line the seafront and rise up the hillside, and there are many summer houses too.

Do not confuse it with Altınova

Another place with a similar name, Altınova, lies much nearer to İzmir, in Ayvalık district. Please check the spelling on your booking: Altınoluk is the Edremit-gulf resort in this page. It adds well over an hour of driving compared with Altınova.

Narrow lanes and steep streets

Lanes on the hillside above the shore can be narrow and steep, and the shore road is busy in season. If the vehicle cannot enter your street, the driver stops at the nearest suitable point and helps with the bags. A map pin from your host avoids confusion with similarly named streets.

Arrival at ADB

Once you have landed, the driver sends the exact spot and a short video on WhatsApp, and waits just outside the arrivals exit of your terminal. Since the drive is long, ask for a stop around Ayvalık or Burhaniye if you want a break.

By public transport you would use an intercity coach from İzmir Otogar on the Edremit–Çanakkale route, having reached the Otogar first.

🔁 Going home: Altınoluk back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Altınoluk the drive back takes about 195 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 7¼–8¾ hours before departure, and about 6¼–7¾ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 09:15 and 10:45.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.
