The road north from ADB to the Gulf of Edremit

From Gaziemir the car joins the İzmir Ring Road and then the O-33 North Aegean Motorway, a toll road that runs as far as the port area near Çandarlı. After that the older D-550 İzmir–Çanakkale road carries on north, passes Ayvalık and reaches Burhaniye; the turn for Ören comes just before the town. Expect roughly two and a half to three hours in the car, and a little more on summer weekends when holidaymakers fill the coast road.

The last part of the trip is main road through small towns and olive country rather than motorway, so the final hour feels slower than the first two. Families with children should tell the driver they would like a short break on the way; it is a long ride and nobody minds stopping.

Ören beach or Burhaniye town: choose your drop-off

Burhaniye is the district, but the beach quarter of Ören sits about 4 km west of the town centre, and that is where most holiday hotels are: boutique places, apart-hotels and family-run properties. The town itself has only a few hotels. Give us the hotel name when you book so the driver heads for the right side of the district.

In the town, streets are ordinary and the car can usually reach the door. Ören's seafront and holiday lanes get narrow and crowded in high season, so the driver may stop at the nearest accessible point and tell you where; expect a short walk with your bags.

What waits at the end of the drive

Ören stands on the site of ancient Adramyttion, where a large, well-preserved Roman house from the 2nd to 5th centuries AD has been uncovered. The district is better known locally for its olive oil, and in July the biennial Ören Tourism and Art Festival draws extra visitors, so if your dates fall in a festival year, book early and allow a little more time on the final approach.

After you land at Adnan Menderes

ADB has separate international and domestic buildings. Whichever one you arrive at, the driver waits just outside its arrivals exit. Once you have landed, he sends a WhatsApp message with the exact meeting point and a short video showing the way from the door, and the drivers speak English if you prefer to call.

Taxi or transfer for a trip this long?

Nothing runs from the airport to Burhaniye directly: Havaş has no line there. By public transport you would first need İzmir Otogar, reached by the Havaş Manisa line (only a couple of departures a day are listed) or by İZBAN to Halkapınar and a city bus or taxi; ESHOT bus 204 passes the otogar but runs only at night. Then comes an intercity coach towards Edremit and Çanakkale and, in Ören, one more hop to the hotel. For a group with suitcases, one private transfer from the arrivals exit to the hotel door is the simpler plan. Our guide to İzmir Airport routes and options compares the rest.

🔁 Going home: Burhaniye back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Burhaniye the drive back takes about 155 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 6¼–7¾ hours before departure, and about 5¼–6¾ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 10:15 and 11:45.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the drive from İzmir Airport to Burhaniye?

Plan on about two and a half to three hours. Summer weekends and the older coast road after the motorway can add a little.

Do you take me to Ören as well as Burhaniye town?

Yes. Ören beach is about 4 km west of the town; tell us which hotel when you book. In high season the driver may stop at the nearest accessible point if the seafront lanes are too narrow.

Is there a direct bus from Adnan Menderes airport to Burhaniye?

No. There is no Havaş line to Burhaniye, so you would travel via İzmir Otogar and an intercity coach, then reach your hotel by taxi or local transport.

Where will my driver be after I land?

Just outside the arrivals exit of your terminal. After landing he messages you on WhatsApp with the exact point and a short video.

Is the price per person?

No, it is per vehicle, not per person. The exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay.

What happens if my flight is late?

The driver follows your flight, and there is no extra charge for flight delays.
