Dikili is a quiet Aegean coastal town facing the Greek island of Lesbos, a long way north of Adnan Menderes Airport. This private transfer spares you the bus-station detour: your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit, then takes the ring road and the North Aegean Motorway up the coast, a drive of about an hour and three quarters.

A summer resort with Lesbos on the horizon

Dikili is a coastal district and summer resort opposite Lesbos, roughly 120 km north of İzmir. It has beaches at Bademli and Denizköy, and thermal springs bubble up in the villages of Nebiler, Bademli and Kocaoba. The town has a wooden Merkez Mosque from 1789. In the same district, to the south, lies Çandarlı, the ancient Pitane, and the unexcavated city of Atarneus is nearby. Hotels and pensions line the town seafront, and holiday sites sit near the beaches.

The long way north

This is one of the longer runs from ADB, so plan it as a journey. The driver joins the İzmir Ring Road (O-30) and then drives the North Aegean Motorway (O-33), a toll road, to its northern end near Bergama. From there the Çandarlı connector and the coast road lead north through Çandarlı to Dikili; the D-550 is the alternative if conditions call for it. Count on roughly an hour and a half to two hours, and expect the coast road to be busier on summer weekends.

Comfort on a long drive

No public link from the airport

There is no direct bus or train from Adnan Menderes Airport to Dikili, and Havaş does not run there. The public route is a two-stage trip: first you reach İzmir Otogar, then you take an intercity bus to Dikili, which takes about an hour and 35 minutes on the quickest services. With luggage and a late landing, that chain is tiring. A taxi from the arrivals rank is possible, but on a distance like this you should agree the fare before you set off.

Meeting and dropping off

On landing, you get a WhatsApp message from the driver with the precise meeting point, just outside the arrivals exit, and a short walking video. In Dikili the seafront road and town centre make drop-off easy. A few beach-side holiday sites are down narrow lanes, so give us the name of the complex or a map pin, and the driver will phone your host if the last stretch is unclear.

Choosing between a base on the coast and the city

Dikili suits guests who want a quiet seaside base rather than a big resort, and the price of that quiet is distance: it is farther from the airport than most beach options. A daytime landing makes the drive easier. After a late landing you reach the coast in the dark, so tell your pension in advance and check that someone will be at reception.

If you are staying in a village rather than the town, give the village name and the accommodation's phone number, since signposting on the smaller coastal roads can be thin.

🔁 Going home: Dikili back to İzmir Airport

You can book the way back in the same booking: choose a return trip on the booking form and enter the date and pickup time for your flight home. On the day, your driver waits at your hotel entrance or your address at that time and helps with your luggage.

From Dikili the drive back takes about 105 minutes without traffic, so for an international flight choose a pickup about 5¼–6¼ hours before departure, and about 4¼–5¼ hours before a domestic flight. For a flight at 18:00, that means a pickup between about 11:45 and 12:45.

Traffic: İzmir traffic is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings on the ring road and the roads into the airport; in summer the roads to and from Çeşme and Kuşadası are much slower at weekends and on public holidays, so leave earlier then.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the drive from İzmir Airport to Dikili?

Plan for about an hour and a half to two hours. The ring road, the North Aegean Motorway and the coast road make up the route, and summer weekends are busier.

Is there a direct bus from the airport to Dikili?

No. You would go to İzmir Otogar first and take an intercity bus, about an hour and 35 minutes on the fastest services. A private transfer goes straight from the arrivals exit.

Can the driver take me to Çandarlı or Bademli?

Yes, both are in the same district. Tell us the hotel or address when you book.

Can we make a rest stop?

Yes. Ask the driver at the start; a short stop is sensible on a drive of this length.

What if my flight lands late?

We track your flight and plan around it, with no extra charge for flight delays. Let your accommodation know you will arrive late.

How is the price calculated?

Per vehicle rather than per passenger, so a family or a small team shares one fare. You see the exact amount for your date and time before paying.
