Arriving in Izmir at Night: What Still Runs from Izmir Airport
Short answer: the last İZBAN train leaves Izmir Airport (ADB) at 00:54 and the first at 05:12. In between, four ESHOT night buses (lines 200, 202, 204 and 206) leave between 01:00 and 05:40 for ≈€1.40 (₺77) with an İzmirim Kart, or ≈€1.55 (₺86) by contactless bank card. Havaş coaches leave at 01:30 and 02:30 for the city, at 02:00 for Selçuk and Kuşadası and at 02:30 for Urla, Alaçatı and Çeşme. Taxis wait outside both arrivals exits 24 hours a day, and the meter tariff has no night rate. After 02:30 nothing public runs to the coast, so for a hotel in Çeşme, Alaçatı or Kuşadası at 04:00 you need a taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
Your driver waits just outside the arrivals exit · flight tracking · no extra charge for traffic or flight delays · up to 6 passengers · free cancellation up to 24 h

Many flights reach Izmir late. After midnight the İZBAN train stops, Havaş thins out and municipal night buses take over. This guide sets out what runs hour by hour, what a taxi costs, what stays open in the terminals, and how to reach a hotel on the coast in the small hours. İZBAN and ESHOT times were checked on 18 October 2026 and Havaş on 19 October 2026.

The same every night of the week. İZBAN describes its times as approximate. Havaş leaves for Çeşme at 22:30 and for Kuşadası at 23:30 on the evening before its small-hours departures. The ESHOT times are the ones in the 17–24 October 2026 timetable, so check eshot.gov.tr if you travel later.
İZBAN: the last and first trains
İZBAN trains reach Alsancak without a change in 28 minutes. The last train from the airport is at 00:54 and the next is at 05:12. The station is in front of the Domestic Terminal: from International Arrivals, follow the "Metro–İZBAN" signs and the moving walkway (there is no metro at the airport; "Metro" on the signs refers to the connecting bridge), and from Domestic Arrivals take the lifts or escalators opposite the exit. If you do not expect to be outside well before 00:30, plan on the buses below.
The fare is ≈€0.70 (₺40) for the first 20 km with an İzmirim Kart, and İZBAN does not accept bank cards. The card costs ≈€3.50 (₺200), and the İZBAN ticket office at the station closes at 22:40. Cafés in both arrivals halls sell cards too, but publish no hours, so do not count on buying one after midnight; see our İzmirim Kart guide.
Selçuk and Ephesus by train: not at night
There is no through train from the airport to Selçuk. You take İZBAN to Tepeköy and change to a shuttle, and the last shuttle leaves Tepeköy at 23:50. The latest connection is the 23:12 train from the airport, with a five-minute change and arrival in Selçuk at about 00:16: too tight to rely on. For Selçuk and Ephesus see Izmir Airport to Kuşadası and Ephesus.
ESHOT night buses: 01:00 to 05:40
The city's municipal buses serve the airport only at night. Four lines run three times in each direction, two hours apart:
| Line | Goes to | Leaves the airport |
|---|---|---|
| 202 | Cumhuriyet Meydanı in Alsancak | 01:00, 03:00, 05:00 |
| 200 | Mavişehir transfer centre, via Karşıyaka | 01:20, 03:20, 05:20 |
| 206 | Şirinyer transfer centre | 01:30, 03:30, 05:30 |
| 204 | Bornova Metro, via the bus station (Otogar) | 01:40, 03:40, 05:40 |
The airport stops are Dış Hatlar Geliş (stop 13016) at International Arrivals and İç Hatlar Geliş (stop 13018) at Domestic Arrivals. The fare is ≈€1.40 (₺77) with an İzmirim Kart, or ≈€1.55 (₺86) with a contactless bank card, so a bank card is the simple way to pay at 3 am. There is no 90-minute transfer on these lines. ESHOT does not publish journey times, so allow more than the train takes, and check the departure time on the stop's display before you leave the terminal. Between 03:40 and 05:00 no bus leaves at all, and there is no train until 05:12.
Havaş coaches at night
Havaş runs a few small-hours departures from the exits of both arrivals floors. They are the only public service to the coast after midnight:
| Line | Night departures | Fare | Next daytime coach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alsancak, Karşıyaka, Mavişehir | 01:30, 02:30 | ≈€4.50 (₺240) Alsancak, ≈€4.50 (₺250) Karşıyaka and Mavişehir | 08:30 |
| Urla, Alaçatı, Çeşme | 02:30 (and 22:30 the evening before) | ≈€6.50 (₺360) Urla, ≈€11 (₺600) Alaçatı and Çeşme | 06:30 |
| Selçuk, Kuşadası, Davutlar | 02:00 (and 23:30 the evening before) | ≈€11 (₺600) | 07:30 |
| Aydın | 02:00 (and 23:30 the evening before) | ≈€11 (₺600) | 07:30 |
Havaş lists about 30 minutes to Alsancak, 75 to Alaçatı, 100 to Çeşme and 90 to Kuşadası, so the 02:30 coach reaches Çeşme at about 04:10 and the 02:00 coach reaches Kuşadası at about 03:30. The baggage allowance is 30 kg per passenger, and on intercity lines your ID details are recorded, so keep your passport to hand. We could not confirm that drivers take cash on İzmir routes, so carry a bank card in your own name.
Taxis at night: there is no night rate
Taxis wait on the arrivals level outside both terminals 24 hours a day. The rank is run by the Airport Taxi Drivers Association (+90 232 274 20 75). Izmir's meter tariff, in force since 1 May 2026, is ≈€0.70 (₺40) to start plus ≈€0.95 (₺54) per km, with a minimum fare of ≈€4 (₺210), and it has no night rate. For out-of-town trips the airport taxi office also prints a list price. The meter must be switched on for every trip, and you may pay either the meter amount or the list price. The list shows one price per destination, with no separate night column.
| From the airport to | Taxi (meter estimate) | Airport list price | Private transfer (per vehicle) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Konak | ≈€17–22 (₺950–1,250) | None | from €35 |
| Alsancak | ≈€19–24 (₺1,050–1,350) | None | from €35 |
| Karşıyaka | ≈€28–34 (₺1,550–1,900) | None | from €55 |
| Selçuk | ≈€61–70 (₺3,400–3,900) | ≈€65 (₺3,600; centre) | from €60 |
| Kuşadası | ≈€82–92 (₺4,550–5,100) | ≈€68 (₺3,800) | from €70 |
| Alaçatı | ≈€85–95 (₺4,700–5,300) | ≈€87 (₺4,850) | from €95 |
| Çeşme | ≈€94–105 (₺5,200–5,850) | ≈€97 (₺5,400) | from €100 |
Meter estimates are our own, for the usual road in normal traffic; they are not official fares. The Çeşme and İzmir–Aydın motorways are toll roads, and the airport list does not say whether tolls are included, so ask before you leave the rank. A standard taxi takes up to 4 passengers; five or six people need two.
- Paying: card payment in taxis becomes mandatory on 16 November 2026. Until then it depends on the car, so carry enough Turkish lira for the fare, with a margin for traffic.
- Safety: use only the official rank, check that the meter is running ("taksimetre lütfen"), note the plate number and keep the receipt. Ignore anyone who offers you a ride inside the building. The emergency number is 112.
Full fare tables and payment tips are in our Izmir Airport taxi prices guide.
Landing late with a hotel on the coast
No train or municipal bus runs to Urla, Çeşme, Alaçatı, Selçuk or Kuşadası at night. Your choices come down to these:
- Havaş: 02:30 for Urla, Alaçatı and Çeşme, and 02:00 for Selçuk and Kuşadası (also the evening coaches at 22:30 and 23:30, if your flight is early enough). Good value, but your landing has to fit the time.
- Taxi: a long ride at the meter, with the choice of the airport list price. Çeşme is ≈€97 (₺5,400) on the list and Kuşadası ≈€68 (₺3,800).
- Private transfer: from €95 per vehicle to Alaçatı, €100 to Çeşme, €70 to Kuşadası and €60 to Selçuk and Ephesus, with a driver who tracks your flight.
Step-by-step guides: Izmir Airport to Çeşme and Alaçatı and Izmir Airport to Kuşadası and Ephesus.
What is open at the airport at night
- Money: Travelex is open 24 hours in the International Arrivals baggage hall (and in International Departures), phone +90 232 274 6277. The terminals have ATMs, but the airport publishes no locations.
- Help: the information desks at International Arrivals and International Departures are open 24 hours, and so is the Portclinic medical centre on the International Departures floor.
- Luggage and cars: left luggage on the Domestic Terminal arrivals floor is open 24 hours (≈€3 / ₺180 for a small bag, ≈€6.50 / ₺350 for a large one, per 24 hours).
- Closed at night: the pharmacy (08:00–22:00), lost and found (08:00–20:00) and the İZBAN ticket office (until 22:40).
- Food: the airport publishes no opening hours for its cafés and restaurants, so do not count on a meal.
- SIM cards: the airport's own shop list includes no mobile operator. Some websites mention operator counters in arrivals, but we found no locations or hours, so set up an eSIM before you fly.
- Wi-Fi: the network is TAV-FREE-WIFI; log in with your mobile number and the SMS code. Without roaming you can get a free password with your passport at a kiosk, but the kiosks closest to arrivals are in the international area and we found no opening hours.
Waiting for the morning
The TAV Airport Hotel is inside the International Terminal (81 rooms), and there are hotels a short drive away: Orty Airport Hotel (about 1 km in a straight line), DoubleTree by Hilton Izmir Airport and Ofuro World Hotel Spa (both about 1.8 km). Ask the hotel about a shuttle; we could not confirm one. Otherwise the ESHOT buses restart at 05:00 and the first train leaves at 05:12.
Late hotel check-in
Tell your hotel you will arrive after midnight, with your flight number, and book the right night: if you land at 01:30 on the 16th, the room has to be booked from the 15th. Hotels in Turkey ask for your passport at check-in, even at 3 am, and it helps to keep the address and phone number saved offline.
Private transfer: a driver who tracks your flight
A private transfer takes you from the terminal to your hotel door at any hour. Your driver tracks your flight and meets you just outside the arrivals exit; once you land, they message you on WhatsApp with the exact meeting point and a short video showing the way. Drivers speak English. If your flight is late, the pickup moves with it, at no extra charge for traffic or flight delays, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup. Prices are per vehicle (Mercedes Vito, up to 6 passengers), with child seats on request: from €35 to Alsancak or Konak, from €70 to Kuşadası and from €100 to Çeşme. The exact price for your date and pickup time is shown before you pay; our 24/7 line is +90 544 102 1414.
Your phone needs data or the airport Wi-Fi to receive the WhatsApp message, so arrange an eSIM or roaming before a night flight. If you connect through Istanbul with bags checked through, you land on the domestic side but come out at International Arrivals; see Meeting your driver at Izmir Airport.
Travelling alone and light to Alsancak, the 01:00 ESHOT bus costs far less, and for one to four people going to the city a taxi on the meter is often cheaper than a transfer. For families, groups, the coast and delayed flights, a pre-booked car is more practical.

Can I get to Selçuk and Ephesus by train late at night?
Hardly. There is no through train, and the last Tepeköy–Selçuk shuttle leaves at 23:50, so the latest possible connection is the 23:12 train from the airport with a five-minute change. After a late landing, take the 02:00 Havaş coach, a taxi or a transfer.
What is open at Izmir Airport at night?
Open around the clock: Travelex in the International Arrivals baggage hall, the information desks, left luggage on the Domestic arrivals floor, the rent-a-car desks, ATU Duty Free airside and the taxi rank. The pharmacy closes at 22:00, and the airport publishes no opening hours for cafés.
Can I buy a SIM card at Izmir Airport at night?
We could not confirm it. The airport's shop list includes no mobile operator, and we found no counter locations or hours. Set up an eSIM before you fly so that your driver's WhatsApp message reaches you; the free TAV-FREE-WIFI network needs an SMS code, or a passport at a kiosk.
